Books on the Square is an excellent book store. It has a wide selection of children's books, some children's gifts (such as Klutz Press), a mix of popular and special interest books for grownups, and some cards and reading related paraphenalia (reading glasses, bookmarks, etc). They have also started carrying (and buying) some second-hand books. The staff is very helpful and the store is always willing to order books if something is not in stock.

I was visiting my sister in NH and we ventured to RI / Thayer St after eating at a great little place called Fire & Ice... (also yummy!). Anyway, Pie in the Sky drew me in like a magnet... LOL. I couldn't get out the door without checking out everything in there. I ended up with several gifts for loved ones back home in NC. I plan on checking them out again and again..... I wish you guys had a website so I can buy some of your things. Maybe that's in the making???!!! Well, if you get a chance, go to the Pie in the Sky. You probably will not walk out empty handed either!

You can REALLY have it all at Botticelli. I was able to spare myself the dred of going to a Bridal Chain or snobby small Bridal Shop while looking for a wedding dress. Jan and Bonnie helped me so much and they really empathize with the customers. I got the most gorgeous Bridal Dress and the price was extremely reasonable. I also got a beautiful jacket that I wore for my rehersal dinner that I got so many compliments on, I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Pros: Plus Sized Wedding Dresses adn Formal Wear

Everything you can think of in a wonderful, pleasing atmosphere. Great snack area where you can eat your take out or have a leisurely meal. The take out selection is endless. The salad bar is to die for! Great bakery and wonderful breads. Excellent Produce. No problem with parking. Really worth the trip! RI Magazine Best Grocery Shopping for 2005.

There is more than just wine here, but the wine selection is really great. I also think that it is very reasonably priced. There is also a good selection of beer that is refrigerated. I found different kinds of Sake here that I have never seen too. Overall, it is a pleasant place to shop and service is great.

The people at RI Aquarium & Pet are very nice to children. If they're not too busy, they will let you hold a rat or a turtle, or even (once) an alligator, or pet a cockatoo. They sell fish, small reptiles and amphibians, small mammals, and birds. They are always available with advice and support, and their prices are very reasonable.

Oop is my favorite store for those cool but hard-to-buy-for people on my shopping list. Every time I go in, I find something new. The greeting card selection alone can keep me occupied for half an hour, laughing the whole time. But the best part of the store is the selection of funky gifts, quirky toys, and handmade crafts. Colorful, weird and wacky, if you know someone who is a true original, you will find something here for them.

I love the atmosphere of independent booksellers. Though they don't have as large of a selection as big box stores, they do have a wealth of books of all types to choose from. The staff are always friendly and willing to help and there are comfortable places to sit and read. The best thing of all is, dogs are welcome! It's a valuable part of the community and a great place to shop.

I come here for all of my birthday and holiday shopping and leave with a bag full of goodies for me too. Last week I went in to find a birthday gift for a friend who loves animals. I found a really cute looking hedgehog made of tree bark. You have to see it. I bought myself an asian parasol mobile and my boyfriend bought a Kenyan soapstone hippo. I can't wait to go back. Staff is very friendly and will gift box everything at the counter.
Pros: full of wonderful gifts you would never see in a mall.
Cons: very small so a hand full of people will fill it.

Berks is the place to go for stylish shoes in Providence. The shoes range from cheap to moderately expensive, but all are trendy or at least up to date. There are fewer mens shoes than womens, and no childrens shoes. The clothing selection is limited and casual. Although the store can get very busy at times, the staff is fairly attentive and helpful.
