Wild Oats Natural Marketplace

Wild Oats is a competitor of Whole Foods in Evanston, with a great selection of natural produce, fresh and frozed foods, wines and beers, cheese and lots more. Their layout is a little more open than Whole Foods, and their prices are generally a little less on items than both carry. The quality of the fresh food there is excellent, particularly the organic arrugula. We got our Thanksgiving turkey from their last year, and that, too was great. I would recommend this store to people interested in their products. more

This is the Wild Oats formerly known as People's market. People's market was cheaper and funkier but wasn't in tune with the more upscale Evanston clientèle so this place recently morphed into a regular Wild Oats, which is a lot more like its main competitor, Whole Foods. The prices are still a little better here and this is a place you can find all your staples if you are hip to organic foods, healthy eating, and preventative medicine. In their new incarnation they now have a great prepared foods section, and a more reliable inventory. I wish they would put a Wild Oats further North. Called People's Market, this store is part of the Wild Oats chain. Large selection of natural health, organic, and vegetarian foods. In addition to grocery items, a small bakery area and dairy, they offer fresh produce, fresh meat and seafood, but no deli counter. Large selection of frozen foods. The food selection and store itself doesn't have the "wow" factor of competitor Whole Foods, but they offer many of the same products at lower prices. Their frequent sales even price high quality-organic items on par with traditional foods at regular supermarkets. more
