First thing is the great scalp massage they give to EVERYONE who has a shampoo -- fabulous! Overall, they have great service, are customer-focused; and have skilled technicians. Barb, especially, has been my colorist for several years now, and I wouldn't go to anyone else (unless I absolutely have to!). Her sense of what hair color looks good with my skin tone and eye color has been incredibly valuable.
Pros: Really comfortable salon; friendly people

Art and Science, though expensive, has intelligent hair stylists that actually listen to how you want your hair to look. The people are all extremely friendly, and the place itself has a classy appearance. My entire family gets their hair cut here and it looks ten times better than the cheaper places in the area, so if you can afford it, it's a great place to get your hair cut.

I wasn't sure if I should try this place because I didn't want to end up with a metrosexual haircut, but I wanted something other than one provided by a fat, bald man with tattoos. I gave it a chance, and it was well worth the money. I was showered with compliments. Yippee.
Pros: You get what you ask for
Cons: Closed Sunday and Monday

This gym is great for those who like an independent workout (lots of weight and cardio equipment), and those who like classes (almost all of which are included in dues, the exceptions include tennis lessons and rock climbing courses). The only downside? The steakhouse next door! When you get out of a cardio class in the evening, all you smell is roasting meat.

The salon is actually under a new name...SALON LOTUS...It's all the same staff. I go to Northwestern so it's super convient that its located so close to campus. They have some really great specials going on right now so its totally budget friendly! I used to go to Olga (the waxer) when she worked there and she was not friendly and was always moving my appointment around,which was so annoying that i actually stopped going there for waxing. But i found out that they got a new girl so i tried her and she gave me a great Brazzillian! Her name is Sandra,she is so nice and has more hours availible which is so much better with my classes. I just really like it there the entire staff is so friendly.
Pros: Friendly staff with high skill level
Cons: parking can be tricky

I've been getting my haircut in Chicago and wanted to find a stylist close to my home in Evanston. I tried Red 7 Salon and had my haircut by Kelsey. The staff were extremely warm, welcoming and friendly (not snooty at all). During the shampooing experience, I received the best scalp massage....it was a few minutes long and extremely relaxing. Then, Kelsey very competently cut my hair exactly the way that I wanted it. She really is an expert at cutting. Red 7 also gives complimentary hand massages while you're getting your hair done...again, I was so relaxed and felt valued as a customer. After paying the bill, I was given a "welcome packet" of sorts which included a lip balm and $10 off coupon to use on my next visit. I was SO IMPRESSED with the level of service here! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this salon to anyone living in Evanston or neighboring suburbs. Kudos to the owners for creating an atmosphere that makes you want to come back with all of your friends and family!

I am a very busy man and need a good haircut at a reasonable price where I can count on the fact that I don't have to waste time waiting. Robert has been doing my hair for awhile now and does a great job. The salon is always calm and relaxing. The shampoo girl is also great and gives a great head massage. Overall, great place to take a break from work and get a great haircut.

I am not a typical spa person, but I am getting married next summer and have oily skin and some scarring that I want to have improved for the big day. I usually find spas to be a little intimidating, and not to mention in the city, the moment you leave, you are right back in the blaring craziness that is Chicago, which typically shatters the nice relaxed feeling you paid for. Egea is located up in Evanston, so it is a bit of a drive, but it’s worth it to be able to get a little better pricing and to be able to hold onto your relaxed feeling when you leave since you will step out onto the cute and quaint Evanston streets.
Egea was not the typical spa to me. They were very friendly, and unpretentious. I also was able to really relate and feel comfortable with my facial technician. Best of all, she gave me useful advice and insight on my skin and how to take better care of it when at home. When I left, my skin was glowing (in a good way!) I strongly recommend for anyone like me who needs some extra love for their skin.
Pros: Very friendly staff that gave useful advice
Cons: A little bit of a drive from the city

The Lorelei is now Salon Roula. The owner (Roula, of course), is fantastic. She has been cutting my hair for a long time, and also does my whole family. The prices are reasonable. She's been updating the look of the salon a little at a time and it's starting to look as good as my hair does every time she cuts it. She recently gave my 9-year-old daughter a great new style every mom on her soccer team was talking about for weeks. Roula is really great about doing exactly what you ask, but what's even better is that she will gently try to talk you out of a bad idea -- and she's always right.

Another salon in the same area. I think i have written reviews for more than six of them now, since i really have been to most of them. This one is right next to omni orrington hotel, and also within walking distance to northwetsern university. I did not know there is a salon here before, but my friend told me about it. I went and I had a good experience. They are second to Arts and Sciences salon in that area.
