This resale/consignment shop is for the thrifty, but has high standards when it comes to accepting goods. Most items under two years old, many never worn and still have tags. Also some new designer sample items. Some items seemed a bit overpriced--you could find similar clothes on sale for same prices brand-new. But, fun place to browse and has great sales. Crammed with inventory. Offers shoes, jewelry, books, bric-a-brac and large area for children and infant clothing and toys.

If you are vegetarian, seeking organic products, gourmet cook, or just looking for something unique, Trader Joe's is worth a special trip. Large selection of organic and natural foods at prices the average shopper can afford. Most Trader Joe's own brand. Unique and interesting finds in all areas of the store. Large selection of grocery, frozen, refrigerated foods,and wines. However, fresh produce very limited selection, as is fresh meat. Bakery section also on the small side, lots of breads and cookies but you won't find much in the way of fancy cakes or pastries here.

You order at a busy counter, then find a seat and pick up your order when called. Plan to wait during peak periods, but line moves quickly and staff aims to please. Generous portions of favorites such as Gyros, shwarma, falafel and kabobs. Pita bread comes with meals and is plentiful, baked fresh in bakery next store. Stop in Pita Inn market adjacent to the restaurant for mediterranean grocery items, deli and bakery. Casual dining. A bit loud inside, and parking can be a challenge during busy periods.

Great atmosphere and great amenities at this neighborhood health club. Warehouse-like/industrial decor funky, cozy, and appealing. Equipment is state-of-the-art, most cardio machines have individual television monitors to keep you entertained. Indoor pool with lessons for tots, climbing wall, variety of aerobics classes (even many "new-age" ones), and massage services are offered in addition to standard weight-training and cardio equipment on three levels. Friendly staff. Parking lot nearby and GNC store right in the lobby.

While I have had no issues getting a simple oil change at Doc Ables, and the price was reasonable, avoid them like the plague for any other work. Both times I've brought my car there they have "found" expensive problems that didn't exist or required very simple fixes another mechanic (or my husband) could do at a very low cost. Being new to Evanston and naive, my husband brought his car there for a routine tune-up and recieved a bill for well over $1,000. It was a complete rip-off. We investigated this shop further and there have been several complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau against them. They even confescated a car when the client refused to pay their lofty bill. Be forewarned.

An alternative to high-priced theater chains, with ticket prices at about half the price. Some releases are a few week's behind other theaters' openings, but still current. Main, art-deco era theater in front is very large and beautiful, but showing its age and in need of a bit of sprucing up. Smaller theaters in back offer more movies to choose from, but they are a bit cramped and with small screens that can be a little clastrophobic. Parking can be challenging in downtown Park Ridge at peak times on weekends (there is no theater-only lot), and the ticket counter often has waits, so arrive a few minutes early.

Called People's Market, this store is part of the Wild Oats chain. Large selection of natural health, organic, and vegetarian foods. In addition to grocery items, a small bakery area and dairy, they offer fresh produce, fresh meat and seafood, but no deli counter. Large selection of frozen foods. The food selection and store itself doesn't have the "wow" factor of competitor Whole Foods, but they offer many of the same products at lower prices. Their frequent sales even price high quality-organic items on par with traditional foods at regular supermarkets.

Small neighborhood store offers mostly educationally-themed toys, arts and crafts, books and creative play items. Not much in the way of electronic gismos and you probably won't find the latest "hot" toy on the market, but you'll find a lot of unique and interesting toys that will stimulate your child's mind. Mainly caters towards slightly older children, not much for infants. Friendly and helpful staff.

But you will find a nice selection of new toys and games for children of all ages, at prices that can't be beat. Also good selection of party favors and small toys at penny prices. And, you can feel good supporting a local, family-owned business.

Selection is a bit limited; you might spot a beautiful item but not in your size. But prices are good and sales have terrific bargains. Selction of jewelry is extensive, and in a wide range of prices.
