Best

I have been lucky enough to travel a lot with business and have eaten in many a restaurant in many cities...

Worst

The food is great, but the service is just O.K. Someone needs to remind the waitstaff to come back down to earth. It is as if the waitstaff is too snobby and not enough about ...

What a change a year can make! 6/18/2002

The Wild Ginger has long been my favorite resturant in Seattle, until my last dining experience. The portions have honestly shrunk in half since last year. Maybe the economy is starting to have an impact on the volume of food. We were still hungry after ordering our usual entrees. We actually had to order two more selections. They will have to improve on this for me to return. The flavor of their food still is amazing and the service is still pretty consistent. Cons: Tiny Portions more

What's the big deal? 6/12/2002

This place has more hype working for it than an aging boxer. Honestly, there's not a thing wrong with it--the food and service are good, and the atmosphere is nice, but it didn't strike me as anything wildly out of the ordinary. So, everyone who gushes about it should probably relax a bit. more

Worth the wait 6/12/2002

Have good friends for a conversation or a book because you are going to wait to be seated. I recommend heading to the bar for self seating if you can handle the smoke and ask for Elena to be your server. She made the frustration of waiting for a table worth the while with her knowledge of the menu and prompt service. The food is wonderful and full of flavor. Parking is a hastle and the location is not great but once you sit down and have something to eat from the Satay bar, Blackened Scallops, Fragrant Duck or one of their great desserts, eveything seems o.k. again. You will leave full. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Crowded, Long Wait more

Reservation Dummies 6/6/2002

I don't see a point in making a reservation for this place, when I did make one. My guests & I arrived early prior to our scheduled reservation time-to only find out we had to wait. Personally, I enjoy the food & the service....but being in the industry, I was quite disappointed when it comes to making the reservation and to only find out that there was no table and we were offered the Satay Bar, so we ended up in the Bar. Maybe there should be a consideration for those who are respectful enough to make a reservation and save them their table they deserve! more

Never again! 6/2/2002

The first clue should have been no request for a phone number when reservation was made. There's no need as they enjoy the crowded fast pace of looking too busy! Everyone is rushed..service very poor..excellant wine list but no one to serve the product. This is not my idea of a high-end restaurant. When we complained the manager came to our table to apologize and offered his card with an invitation to call ahead next time for a really good table! No Way! This was an expensive mistake! Cons: service, crowded more

Downhill and spotty service 5/28/2002

The food is still quite good but service is very spotty, especially for the price range of Wild Ginger. And poor service, I mean downright rude/ignorant, can overshadow any good food and ruin an evening. Over several years, a location move, and wildly increased popularity, it's gone progressively downhill. And yet there seem to be so many employees milling about...not sure why they can't wait on tables or bar patrons properly. Pros: Large dining room, Good Food Cons: Awkward bar area, Poor Service more

Portland fan 5/20/2002

I live in Portland, but I try to get to Wild Ginger whenever I visit Seattle. I haven't been to the new location, so I hope it's as great as the old one. Everything I've tried, from the wild boar satay to the Peking duck, was fantastic, each dish distinctly different. Service is always good, and I love the mango margaritas. Can't wait to come up and try the new place. more

A little secret... 5/19/2002

go for a late lunch. The portions are still generous, the service is attentive without the usual snobbery you get at dinner, and there's barely anyone around! As usual the sweet potato stew is a meal in itself. The 7 flavor beef and the spicy green beans are best. I once had the tofu and tomatoes, which was incredible! Defintely worth a try. The food is great, not exactly what the hype set it up to be, but still good. And really not as pricy as I had been led to believe. They don't exactly ""guarantee"" reservations, which is bizarre, but go in the afternoon and you can't go wrong. What's up with the plastic bibs they offer you? Very thoughtful, but a bit ""House of Ribs"" don't you think? Pros: food, lunch menu Cons: lack of parking, no real reservation more
