Best alternative to everything else 8/15/2007

So, I've started working out at this club, and I'm a huge fan. It's always easy to get on the machines/free weights, since it's hardly crowded. Yeah it's a little smaller, but it's got everything that I need. And the help there is very cool; everyone's always got a good word to say. At the end of the day, when I'm completely wiped out, it's totally a hassle-free experience to pick myself up and get into the gym, because I can go as I am, do what I need to do, what I should do, and leave with a good attitude. Besides the price is about a dollar a day, which is hardly an expense for my tight budget. Pros: Cool staff, price Cons: more yoga! more

Neighborhood Gem! 2/14/2006

Awesome neighborhood club with really cool staff. Brand new cybex equipment with membership rates that are very reasonably priced. I'd highly recommend this club to anyone who lives in Lincoln Park. Pros: Price, Helpful staff, Low-key atmosphere Cons: Closes too early more

  • The Scene
For about 20 years now, this small club has cheerily served as an alternative to high-priced, high-faluten clubs of the area for DePaul students, recent grads and a loyal group of neighborhood professionals who seek a workout without the frills. Although the size of the facility is deceptively larger than it seems from the outside, it's still no Taj Mahal, and the equipment is not quite fit for a king--a smattering of recent additions shine like a spotlight among a hodgepodge of older items.

    The Gear
The free weight area downstairs has the feel of a basement, complete with a dusty boom box propped up against the wall. Upstairs, the aerobics room can hold a cozy 15 to 20 people for a variety of classes, including yoga, step and kickboxing. A limited selection of cardio machines are stationed in the front of the club, giving members a view out to the trendy Lincoln Park locale.
