Best Nursing Home I have ever been to. 12/1/2010

The Vosswood sent an ambulance to pick me up from the Methodist Hospital & escorted me to my new home for the next few weeks. They treat you like royalty & you are the only patient they have. The food is wonderful, but they need to learn how to cook healthy meals, meatless meals. The turtles came out everyday to play in the muddy river that ran under the Vosswood. Very nice place! I love it! more

BEST CARE I HAVE EVER RECIEVED! 7/29/2010

I arrived after 9pm at night having just recieved a hip replacement. From the moment I arrived until today (4 weeks later) when I left I received the most comprehensive, loving, quality care I could have ever been given. That first night was tough for me, 4 staff members assisted me with all my ailments through the night. I had never had a surgery before or felt so helpless, but the staff team made me feel it was all ok and they would care for me. And so they did care for me tirelessly for the next 4 weeks...for me and for the several hundred others in this Nursing Home/Rehab Center. The next morning, an Occupational Therapist (Patricia) came to help me from bed, taught me how to shower and dress with my new limitations and sat and talked me through all my concerns. All I can say was I was sincerely overwhelmed by the gentleness, love and care. She wheeled me out to Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy area, and as she did I burst into tears. I had feared how I would recover all alone...and here were all these therapist taking care of people. Patricia helped me for 4 weeks an hour each day to build my upperbody strength, taught me how to get up from a chair, and helped me regain coordination I had lost through the surgery. But more than that, she helped me emotionally and spiritually to become strong and hopeful to help my recovery. Next I met with Megan (my Physical Therapist with a PHD in PT). She was sincere, communicative, enthusiastic and very atune to EXACTLY what I needed to do for each therapy session. 4 weeks ago I was in a wheelchair and could not stand or walk. Today I walked out of Vosswood on my own without any help! To me that was a TOTAL miracle, I know what I felt like after major surgery, I felt I would never walk again, and I know that today I am strong enough to walk on my own. I fully attribute this to Megan, who guided me through 1 to 2 hours of theraputic exercise each day. I am not a person who is in shape, I had never done most of the exercises I did here, but they were exactly what I needed to realize the full advantage of the hip surgery. Megan made sure I was prepared to return to the real world. A wide variety of specialists attended to me through out my stay, social workers helped me with my insurance, diatician/food staff provided 3 great meals a day and freedom to choose what I wanted for the meals, a staff technician even hooked up my portable DVD player to the TV for me, a wound specialist tended to my wound, vital signs taken daily, the head nurses and nurses Patricia and Victoria brought me my medicines on time throughout each day. My Doctor was available night and day to answer questions or concerns, I would just ask a nurse and they would come right back and relay his recommendations to me. One of the very best services was the love and care from the nurses aids like Connie and Rose, they would pick up everything I dropped on the floor, change my bed (sometimes several times daily) and never never never did anyone complain about anything I asked for. In my lifetime I have never been in such a loving, helpful, quality and beautiful environment. This is a community environment the staff and patients all join together helping each other. I made some close friends with patients who were going through physical recovery while I was. The property itself is beautiful, it sits on a heavily wooded bayou with beautiful views from every where. It smells fresh and clean always. Housekeeping visited my room 2 or 3 times a day. applaud the Vosswood team for demonstrating love, hope, patience, positive attitudes, spiritual and emotional compassion while delivering the highest quality care. Pros: Outstanding Staff, Clean, Beautiful, Excellent Care more

Worst......Place........Ever.......... 3/28/2010

My best friend came to the skilled nursing section of Vosswood based upon a recommendation of her doctor at Methodist Hospital. That was our first mistake. She couldn't even turn over or shift in bed at first. Some of the staff are very caring but unfortunately they are rotated and you are left with the vast majority who couldn't give a rat's a## whether or not your loved one is care for properly. Many, many times they didn't come to her aid when she needed assistance to go to the bathroom and would then let her lie in her mess for hours until they got around to her. The person at Vosswood who worked with Medicare kept trying to get her reclassified out of rehab so she'd have to go private pay - they most definitely get paid about 4 times as much that way for no service. Pros: Attractive facitlity but don't let looks deceive you Cons: Absolutely no care for patients more

Looks great on the surface-Poorly Managed 2/26/2010

Not a good experience. Pros: Good location, attractive facility-not so good service Cons: Understaffed-Family Ignored more

Looks nice on the outside-neglectful caregivers 4/9/2009

I placed my father at Vosswood assuming it was a great nursing home /SNF for his rehabilitation after surgery. We arrived with a temporary oxygen tank for the trip to vosswood. I repeatedly asked the nurse to bring him fresh oxygen and was assured it was coming. I left him at midnight only to receive a call from mom the next morning at 9am. He was weak - couldnt breathe and had never been brought oxygen. Finally he received O2 at 10:30am. Sunday he sat in a bed of urine for 6 hours after repeated attempts to get the ""staff"" to change the bed. ""We'll take care of it"" when asked each hour. They lost the hospital discharge orders three times and continued to claim they were never received. I moved him out Monday afternoon. I absolutely do not recommend placing a loved one in this facility if they are in need of any medical attention or rehabilitation. Pros: Looks like a million dollar condo/hotel Cons: careless caregivers & unorganized patient records more
