Uru Swati is the best value I've found in Chicago for Indian food, particularly for vegetarians/vegans. It's one of the only places I've found where you can order a full Indian meal, with daal, vegetables, naan, and an appetizer without spending something like 40 dollars, and the food is delicious. more

AVOID Swati 2/14/2008

Healing through food? You must be joking. Swati is anything But healthy- There food is soaked in cream and oil and more than half the stuff on their menu is fried, not baked. Not to mention, they have a very sparse selection. I had the bhel puri and masala dosa. The bhel tasted like it was six months old-- It was stale!! The dosa aloo was completely cold and the sambhar was not traditional at all. If you are expecting very low quality food for a decent price, Swati is your place. If you want to try some good quality food, try the Viceroy of India down the street. more
