Was the first time that I ever been at India House and I can tell you that the staff was very nice and polite, the food was in the perfect point of cook and spicy, they gave me the table that I wanted, not like the other restaurats where you don?t have chance. The quality, the attention and all made India House one of my favorite restaurants. I completely recommend it.
Pros: Great service and food
Cons: The chicken smoke

The food is terrific here and unbelievably spicy. I can usually handle the heat, but Hema's is outrageous. Good thing it's BYOB, since you'll need plenty of beverages (and there's an Indian liquor store right around the corner). The atmosphere is real homey and the service is, too. So feel free to ask about the various dishes and then share everything.

You either get this place or dont, most people are too cheap and try to compare sub par Indian food on Devon by price instead of quality. Marigold has authentic Indian food and is by far the best in Chicago. If you have been to London then you know what I mean. We had the new curry specials, the Chicken Korma and the spicy seafood Chingari (sp), it was so good! I would recommend that the table share, it's more fun. The waitstaff was so knowledgeable and the owners bought my wife a delicious spicy chocolate cake for her birthday! We loved this Uptown gem.

The medici is owned by the medici family and boy have they done a great job on it! It's near the lab school so kids are always coming by to get their grub on, but it is hands down the best bakery of all time. The only thing better than the pastries would have to be the coffee and ice cream. Awesome! The price only makes it sweeter!

Disregard the post about the inaccuracy... the reviewer sniffed glue, they have precise accuracy on all orders, more precision than a sniper. But.... it takes them literally 10 times longer than it should for them to put the food together. Delivery takes more than an hour usually, and if you don't phone in and order when you just walk in then prepare to sit and wait for about 40 minutes, it's just a joke how pathetically slow they can be; especially with an army of mexicans on the grill, and a useless fat asian stands and watches. If you local newscasters then this is your place, they have about 100 signed pictures on the wall from all kinds of local news legend. Look out for lester holt.
Pros: amazing food, seasoned fries
Cons: slow than old fat lady in front of you on the stairs, slower than the brown line.

I come here all the time with large groups to have massive amounts of very tasty vegetarian cuisine. I like to order the Royal Mysore Thali and a Dosa Thali to share with every 4 people or so.
It is BYOB and the staff is very accomodating with large parties.
Pros: Excellent food, great value, great for large groups.
Cons: Perhaps not the most romantic or atmospheric restaurant

I have been to this restaurant a few times and every time I've gone the food and service was great. It is small, but I never felt that I was cramped while there. I highly recommend the eggplant parmesan.

I would ALWAYS go to Standard India restaurant when I still lived in Chicago. I relocated to Philadelphia almost 5 years ago, but, miss my hometown restaurants. Here, it's a GREAT DEAL for the lunch and dinner buffet. I would have to eat lightly before going to Standard. I love the buffet, because there's a good variety and is sure to please the novice or experienced diner. Wonderful Vegetarian soup, Samosas, Tandoori Chicken, Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, to name a few of the dishes. Vegetarian and Vegan-friendly. I shall be back when I next visit Chicago.
Pros: Economical, Variety, close to transportation
Cons: None
