Searching Through the Mess 6/29/2006

Tom Thumb does have an amazing selection of all things related to crafts, from beads to model building to stickers to paints to rubber stamps, and a thousand other craft-related materials. The very big downside to this store, however, is that it is a perpetual state of disarray. You often have to climb over boxes, go down the aisle another way or just plain forget your search. The staff is not particularly helpful in my experience. However, in the Evanston area, they are the most complete store in terms of sheer volume of craft materials. If you can, I'd shop at Pearl. Tom Thumb could do itself a big favor by cleaning the joint up. more

Have a hobby 8/21/2005

Tom Thumb Hobby and crafts in Evanston has everything! They have tons of stamps for you scrapbookers and card makers, they have lots of beads for the jewelry designers, they have cake pans, ornament kits, felt, toy train stuff, and well, everything else you can think of. A great store with a great selection so you'll probably find almost anything you need for your craft project. more

Looking for a Hobby 8/16/2005

Tom Thumb is the local craft supply store in Evanston, outside of specialty bead and art supply shops. The prices are average as is the selection, but compared to many other local craft shops, you could say there's a pretty decent selection here. They have wood, paint, paper, bead, and other hobby items. They might have what you're looking for if you're a crafter/hobbiest, but it's not organized very well so you may have to look or ask. Oh, and I think they still offer a 10% discount to Northwestern students with ID. more

A great place.. if you can take it 8/3/2005

This store is amazing. they have everything a crafty person ever dreamed of... all stuffed into every nook and cranny of the store. I personally love shopping there. But if you need space, are highly clausterphobic, or like things presented to you in a nice and spacious fashion, you will run away from this store as quickly as you can. more
