I have been a longtime fan of coffee but I must admit I was never so informed and educated as since last Christmas when my favorite brother in law sent me my first coffee grinder and I found out what great coffee tasted like! Since that time I have wandered at my leisure, coffee shops from one side of the state to the other and to be perfectly honest, I am a bit like Dorothy ..."....I found my hearts desire in my own back yard!"! TERRAPINS is a wonderful coffee shop filled with scents, history and tradition. Family owned and operated and loved as well, TERRAPINS has that great mix of a cosmopolitan city in the heartland of Iowa. I love to linger in this business for not only is it a wonderful place to experience but the employees are pleasant as well....sort of a small town feel in a big city ! The next time you are passing through Coralville, travel down to 5th street and check out TERRAPINS.....I promise you will soon be a happy customer, I certainly am!!!! more

You really must try this place at least once. Star****s watch out! They have some really awesome coffee beverages. It is run by two brothers who started importing beans around seven years ago. They have been in this location since 2000. The atmosphere is casual. The decor is contemporary. The lighting is comfortable and there are plenty of tables to sit at. The prices run what you pay at the competition for a large crushed ice coffee. But whatever it is they do to it, is just awesome! Staff is very friendly and upbeat. more

Ooo, talk about excellent coffee and great service. The owner waited on us. He was very friendly and outgoing. We inquired about the name and he explained why they choose Terrapin, something about perseverance and I do not remember what else. The frozen beverage I ordered was awesome! The brownie was rich and lots of chocolate. They import the coffee beans and the desserts. more

Exquisite coffee bar in a brand new building. Very upper class atmosphere and professional in appearance. Coffee specialist who create unique coffee drinks. Also have specialty pastries which are fresh each day. Owner usually on site. Imported coffee beans, which are ground right in the store so the coffee is always fresh. Beautiful décor and classy place to just sit and relax or to have a brief meeting. Lots of seating and even outdoor area in the shade if you prefer. EXCELLENT customer service. Great coffee house run by two brothers. They import their own beans and grind them right there in the store so every cup is fresh and wonderful. They have a nice selection of hot, iced, and blended coffee drinks. The staff are all very friendly and the environment of the store is very appeasing. Beautiful dark woodwork and asthetic lightning. Indoor and outdoor seating areas. Parking right outside the building. A great "bar"! more
