Cant believe how bad it was 1/16/2012

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Thought we would try this place out since we were new to the neighborhood. By far the WORST breakfast I have ever had! My food was cold, when the waitress finally came back to see how the food was all I got was an im sorry and then she brought the bill. Even terrible restaurants will try to reheat it for you. My wife got a pancake that was so overcooked that she was able to break it like a cracker. Absolutely terrible!! more

Good food and nice offerings on the menu, but this place needs a thorough cleaning! Dust everywhere, huge hole in the ceiling, grimy heater vents, and flies buzzing around the dining room. Friendly waitress but understaffed. You might need to get up and get your own coffee! more

Mediocre food at best. Long wait, bad service 10/24/2010

I had heard about this place from a friend and thought it sounded good. Boy was I disappointed! First off is the building. Its run down and the restrooms are terrible, at least the mens room was. There are flies buzzing around the room. Its kind of an awkward eating experience with the way its set up. When we ordered the food took a really long time, around 30 minutes. I'm not sure why but it was by far the longest wait I have ever experienced. I was ready to walk out by the time our food arrived. For me breakfast seems like one of those things that can be difficult to screw up. This one was badly done. I ordered the french toast breakfast with my eggs scrambled. My eggs came non-scrambled and beyond runny. They are bordering on raw. Even the whites were uncooked in places. My wife, who prefers runny eggs, would not touch them. I didn't complain for fear of waiting another 30 minutes to get new eggs. My french toast was uncooked in the center. The potatoes were cold. The bacon was really really hard. I have never had bacon this hard. It wasn't overcooked, just really tough. My orange juice was empty by the time our food arrived but it never got refilled. The waitress never even noticed. I was baffled. I had never experienced such a bad breakfast and I am really easy to please. I won't be returning to the Sunflour. more

Nice little breakfast place 3/14/2009

I've been here about four times and every time I have had a good experience with this cafe. They have very good scrambled eggs (with other veggies). Their french toast and omlettes are also very good. Nice friendly staff. I love their peppermint mocha. Pros: Very good eggs and coffee Cons: Large wait times on weekends more

Great comfort breakfast 11/23/2008

I love this place. It can be busy, but is worth the wait. Their breakfasts are wonderful, I've never had anything I didn't like. Pros: Great food, kid friendly Cons: Busy more

Love the place 7/30/2008

Went here on a whim since I was in the area. Great little cafe. The exterior does not due it justice. Once you walk in the smells were great. I had a cup of coffee and a piece of coffee cake while I waited for a table. Both very good. Once I was sat I had the sunflower breakfast. Two great pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon with home fries. The home fries were a little on the bland side but everything else was perfect. The wait staff was very good and my coffee was refilled many times. Go early cause it fills up very fast. I highly recommend this place and will be back. There are many other things that I need to try. Pros: Great staff, good food and coffee Cons: Very crowded on the weekends more

Superb 12/28/2005

I've only been here for lunch, not breakfast, but found it terrific although, yes, a little pricey. I had the best turkey sandwich I've ever had here, bar none; the bread was fresh and tasty (it's baked on the premises) and the turkey was fresh and succulent. Service was good. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Price more

go early on weekends! 12/27/2005

GREAT spot. Our new favorite breakfast place. If you're concerned about the $8-9 per plate, get a scone and share a breakfast! It'll be hard to find another spot with food, service and atmosphere that can compare with Sunflour! Go early on weekends to avoid the rush!!!! more

Good place... 5/24/2003

Our friends suggested this place as an alternative to our usual breakfast/lunch spots for a change. I was pleasantly surprised. Parking was super easy, and our waiter was polite and friendly and had good timing. I did think that the prices were a bit high (breakfast plates averaged around 8-9 dollars) but they were fairly big. Unlike most breakfast places, they don't list their sides out seperately, and most dishes contained meat, but they did have a couple vegetarian (dairy) options. Lastly, the front of the store is indeed a bakery, and so I understand why this is listed under ""grocery"" -- but it would be good if Citysearch could list it also under ""resturants"" since it is at least 50% cafe. Pros: Friendly wait staff, Elbow room, Good parking Cons: A bit spendy (brkfst) more

Our favorite restaurant! 12/20/2002

Overall it's a 10! IGNORE the previous toxic user rating. This place is the BEST! We discovered the BEST jam secret from Sunflour and have told it to all our friends. They LOVE it...you'll have to go to Sunflour for breakfast or brunch and find out yourself. It's amazing jam...I can't believe I'm raving about jam, but it's something! The food here is really, really good. My husband and I eat out a lot and this is truly our #1, favorite restaurant. The service can be a tad bit slow when the place is at full capacity, but the ambiance is comfortable and relaxing so we don't really care. The breads are scrumptious and the flavors out of this world. Pros: Yummy food, Lots of menu choices, Good parking Cons: NONE! more
