Start your evening at the bar here, but go get dinner somewhere else. The view is amazing, but not worth the price of the food Pros: view Cons: price

Failed Vday Pre-fix dinner. Avoid next year. 2/15/2012

Disappointed. I had high hopes for this place & was excited to spend Valentines Day out with my boyfriend(culinary student) here. Sad to say the meal & service didn't meet the $100/plate price tag. The appetizers were well designed & tasty, those were a win, however, the soup & salad course left much to be desired. The lobster soup was luke warm and tasteless. The salad had crisp greens but I had to stop eating it half way thru because the vinegar in the dressing was overpowering & burning my tongue. The steak was excellent but dessert fell apart. Please keep in mind this was a pre-fix menu so we had limited choices. The pallet cleanser of passion fruit soup, again, was so tart that it hurt my tongue. The chocolate tart was well crafted but lacked any sort of flavor development. Not a very satisfying end to a meal. We were also disappointed that our pre-ordered chocolate covered strawberries never arrived. The server removed them from out bill & when we spoke to the manager about it he said, rather sharply, ""well if you were still at your table I could do something about it."" Realize that we were waiting at the elevator to leave & had not put on our coats, the table we had sat at (which was right next to the stairs, a table like this should not exist in an establishment like this) was still empty, we might as well still have been at it. All in all an overrated establishment for the price. I would say that this place is a tourist stop you can do without! \r more

Good food, high prices, GREAT View of Chicago 6/6/2011

The headline really says it all. I was there this past Saturday for the buffet. With one drink, one dessert, tax and tip it came to $54. Kind of pricey for lunch. \r \r The food though was very good. Just one entree, a couple of vegetable dishes, and some salads. And fresh hot bread. With butter. \r \r Had a Long Island Iced Tea for $15 which was not strong enough for my taste, but still good. \r \r My waiter, Brent, was a fine waiter. Helpful and polite/respectful.\r \r Of course, like many others have mentioned, it is really the view that is the main attraction. Luckily for me it was a bright, sunny day and I could see most of the city and the lake. \r \r I left this place with a lighter wallet but nonetheless quite satisfied with the experience.\r \r more

Great view, Great food, HORRIBLE service 10/10/2010

Great night view, great waiter, and great food. However, we had a HORRIBLE service from the woman who was in charge of reservations. We actually complained about the incident to the manager, and we were able to talk to that woman. However, we were shocked at her stubborn and rude manner. She said she’s sorry, but also included that she’d done nothing wrong. One of my friends was so angry about her attitude, we had to take him out and wrap up our conversation. She actually discriminated us from riding the elevator. She did not believe that we had a reservation so we had to give our first and last name while the other customers said ""we have a reservation"" and was able to ride the elevator! We were properly dressed, but were dishonored by that lady. It ruined our dinner!!!! I cannot believe that the fancy and high level restaurant such as Signature Room had actually hired the person with disrespect for the customers! I never felt so mortified in the restaurant, especially in this kind of place. more

Awesome Experience 9/3/2010

The signature room @ the 95th was an awesome experience. Upon our arrival to Chicago we made reservations with some skepticism. In which we were blown away with the friendly customer service, and the food was worth every cent, the view was an incentitve to the overall experience. I would definetly go back and would recommend the signature room, for anyone who is looking to WOW a date, rekindle their love or who is just wanting to be on top (literally). This is the place to go. more

Great View! Splurge on a Drink Pass on Buffet! 8/27/2010

You won't find a neat place to visit in chicago. We didnt go to sears tower (willis tower) because of the reccomendations to go the signature lounge. We went to the resturant on the 95th floor and had the buffet, which was pathetic. The qauntity was huge, the food and taste was not so good. I only wanted to brush my teeth afterwards. It wasnt good. I would have gladly spent $$ on a drink to enjoy the view. Id say go and eat off the menu more

Wonderful Dining Experience 7/10/2010

It had been 10 years since my last visit here, and didn’t know if they would still match my expectations. I’m happy to share that this place is still one of the best spots in Chicago for dinner. You can get better food at lots of great Chicago restaurants, but the combo of the view (at night) and a great staff make it hard to beat. Keep it simple, go with the Surf and Turf and you'll be a happy camper! Pros: Good food, great view, excellent staff Cons: Cant reserve a window table more

""Guys"" ""Guys""? 12/13/2009

Yes the view is very nice, (more on that in a sec) and the food isn't bad. But, two different employees, one at check in, referred to us as 'guys'. (We are a middle aged couple, and my wife is clearly not a 'guy) Topping that off, however, was the host who was walking around through the restaurant checking on table vacancies chewing gum. Possibly there was a shortage of staff last night and they sent over a few people from Ed Debevic's to work. That could be the only excuse for this attitude from staff. Initial service was very slow. We sat for almost 10 minutes before the first waiter came by with the menus, and ask for drink orders. No water yet, or bread. (no bread basket, someone comes around and gives you a roll. Actually, he was about the most efficient employee all evening) The initial waiter came back about 5 minutes later and explained some of the specials, and took our drink order. A few minutes another waiter came by and mentioned specials for the night, included some that the first one didn't. We had soup, which was okay, not great. I had the pork tenderloin, which was very very good. Possibly the best I have had. The mashed/whipped potatoes were okay. I referred to them by the name(don't remember which one it was) as it was listed on the menu, and the waiter referred to them as something else, almost like I was wrong for calling them what they were listed as. At $7 for a small plate of whipped/mashed potatoes that generally reminded me something from a box, I was not impressed. We had a creme brule for dessert, which was okay. I've had better. As far as table setting: we had no special event or anything to celebrate and while a window seat would have been nice, it generally wasn't all that important to us. However, there was a young couple next to us sitting a row over from the window. Towards the end of the meal the waiter brought over a dessert to the young lady which contained a ring. The young man got down on one knee and proposed, which was very nice. Now, given that this was pre-arranged, couldn't someone at the desk given them a window seat? It probably didn't make much difference to them, but it would have been nice of the place. Generally, given both the food and almost all the staff, as I mentioned, this place did not exceed expectations. It was nice, but we probably won't be back. Pros: Great view, food was good Cons: Not very classy staff, doesn't exceed expectations. more

Great Place for a Celebration! 8/6/2009

This was the first time my husband and I ate at the Signature Room at the 95th. Wanted to for years and finally decided to splurge. Entering the restaurant takes you back to a fifties feeling but we liked it and felt it works. The views are amazing as you walk out of the elevator. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. We left feeling that the food, service and view were worth the pricey bill. Drinks are priced from $8 beers to $13 for a glass of wine. We had a very good cheese plate appetiser that could have been improved by providing an assortment of crackers. I wanted to try their lobster bisque but just could not talk myself into spending the excessive $10 for a small bowl of soup. Our entrees of pork tenderloin($30) and filet of steak($40) were excellent. They were both cooked perfectly and accompanied with outstanding sauces. Side dish choices were alacarte and enough for two to share. Yes, we left with a pricey bill of $120. We never spend this much while eating out. However, this was well worth it for a special two hour celebration, seated by the window, overlooking our beautiful City of Chicago.\r Pros: Views/Ambiance, Food, Romantic Cons: Pricey more

How do you not like this place 2/24/2009

Yum! We really enjoy the Signature Room and everything it offers: Good Food, Good Drinks, Great Service, Great Deserts. The only downfall is the parking (lot at $24) and sometimes the wait time. Otherwise, the view is wonderful, especially if you can catch the fireworks at Navy Pier. Pros: Everything you want in a restaurant Cons: Parking lot and sometimes wait time more

Worst Event Staff ever!!! 2/4/2009

A view that is undeniable, food is just good, not excellent. However, what is up with the service staff? \r The staff seems careless about business, and it is even worse when trying to send big parties to them. Very Exquisite Venue 12/3/2008

Absolutely love and appreciate the Signature Room! It seems to whisk you away into a high-landing fairytale while dining on the 95th floor of the Hancock Building. The restaurant overlooks Chicago's great skyline, as it is the neighbor to many notable skycrapers. Pricey, very pricey, but the food, the ambience, the intimate setting, the convenience presented to the patrons, is all worth it. Upscale, sleek, and urbane place to enjoy the company of one or more. Pros: Convenient Parking, the view, the luxury of fine dining, the service, the sleek intimate atmosphere Cons: Pay for Parking more
