The best and only soufle in Denver 9/18/2011

Amazing- My husband and I were introduced to Sansone's by friends, and we have been going back ever since. We love the veal parmigiana and I tried a fish the other night that was excellent. We lived in Dallas, Texas and we love soufle. We have been to many restaurants in Denver and no-one makes the grand marnier soufle like Sansone's It's so good I won't share mine. We will be there next week for my husband's birthday and look forward to the coziness and great service. We feel very special when the owner comes out to say hello to see if we are enjoying our meal. more

Excellent~ 7/28/2011

My family and I recently visited Sansone's for my birthday. I was nervous about bring children to a restaurant of this caliber. However, rest assured the owners not only made me feel like family but they took great care of my children and made sure they felt just as important to be there. First let us discuss the food. I consider myself to be a foodie and enjoy a truly fine meal. Let me tell you, I found one at Sansone's Bistro. We started with the Carpacio and Escargot. Both were excellent, tender, delicate and full of flavor. I had the Sansone's pasta and my husband had the special beef tenderloin. The shrimp in my pasta dish were cooked to perfection and the pasta was exaclty al dente. My pasta dish was so good that I had to fight to keep it on my plate as my children were clamoring to eat all my shrimp. My husband's beef was cooked to a perfect medium, the sauce was an excellent touch to a fine piece of beef. He also had roasted brussel sprouts and when I asked for a taste of the brussel sprouts, it was too late. I believe the word ""great"" was used to describe the brussel sprouts. Now how many of you have ever used the words ""great"" and ""brussel sprout"" in the same sentance. Well you will now once you have them at Sansone's Bistro. Now, let's talk about service. Excellent. Our waitress took great pains to describe the specials. The bussers paid incredible attention to our table, making sure empty plates were cleared immediately and glasses were always full with fresh water, iced tea, etc. more

WOW -- awful 3/20/2010

I ate there and it just sucked. I paid $50 for nothing -- well, I paid $50 for dry chicken, cheap wine, bad salad, and a moldy atmosphere. Wine is cheap, which is nice, but not much of a selection. My guest had paella -- don't even get me started. Isn't paella supposed to have some flavor to it? My poor guest had cheap shrimp, dry mussels and a bag of steamed rice on a plate? No sauce, no nothing. yuck! Don't go -- just saying! Pros: carpaccio -- but just cause I am being nice Cons: service, food, staff more

Well -- that was awful 3/20/2010

Well -- AWFUL!!! I was first placed at a table on a slant so I was eating on a slope that evening. The restaurant atmosphere is cute but smells like cigarettes. I paid $27 for a paella dish that was HORRENDOUS. Flavorless shrimp, chewy mussels on a bed of rice straight out of a minute rice box. Bread was flaky. Service was awful. My waitress didn't even come by and check on us (I think she knew the product was awful). Basically -- not going back. Don't try it. Waste of $$$ Pros: bread -- maybe? Cons: everything more

Excellent Service - Love the Staff!!! 11/3/2009

We have one of our first meals after having our first child. Our baby was only about 3 months old and so it was obviously difficult to manage eating and watching our baby. The owner noticed that we were having a difficult time and so she offered to hold our baby for a few minutes while my wife finished her meal. We will NEVER forget the AWESOME gesture that that was. The food was really good and the portions were great. Pros: Great Service!!! Watched our baby! Cons: A little dark inside more

One of The Best dining Experiences 4/27/2009

The family atmosphere, Ben our waiter was great. The knowledge of wines was impeccable I will be dining here again for sure. Cheers! Pros: Atmosphere, Food, artichoke appetizer Cons: Meal can take a little onger than normal but worth the wait! more

Food should be more than good, it should be memorable... Job well done 2/16/2009

My wife and I went on Valentine's Day to celebrate our 17th Anniversary as well as the Valentine's Day holiday. Sevice was excellent as was the small touches like helping arrange a florist for flowers for my wife and the Happy Anniversary wishes from the entire staff. The food was excellent, even if it was a special menu for the holiday. Both appetizers were excellent, although I preferred the flavor of the Kangaroo to the Ostrich. The salad was OK, dressing would have been too strong if not for the wonderful intermezzio provided afterwards to cleanse the palatte. The Phesant was nicely done, and the Colorado Lamb Chops were magnificant. We both went with the lighter cheese blintz's for dessert which were a near perfect ending to a great meal. The special and regular wine selection was nice. Good wines but not overly pretentious. And it goes a long way with me that the Chef came out to ensure the guests were enjoying their meals. My wife and I plan to come here more often. Pros: Great food, excellent service Cons: Small place (it is a bistro in every sense) may seem loud and crowded to some on a busy day more

Treated Like Royalty 10/2/2008

I enjoy finding little-known restaurants for my husband and I to celebrate our anniversary. I am so glad I found the Sansone's Bistro page on CitySearch. The restaurant is small so thank you to those who recommended making reservations. Everyone in the restaurant was so friendly and took very good care of us. We could tell that there were a lot of repeat customers since the employees were calling them by name. I had a hard time choosing something from the menu since everything sounded so good. Robert Sansone, the owner/chef, came out in the dining area 3 times to thank us for choosing his restaurant and to make sure we were being taken care of to our satisfaction. Our souffle had ""Happy Anniversary"" on it and it was comp'ed. Pros: Food, Service more

Not Recommended 8/18/2008

This restaurant is owned by a married couple who are often caught bickering loudly to each other as well as directly to their employees in front of guests. While the food may taste decent, the sous chefs repeatedly smoke cigarettes and return to the kitchen without washing their hands as witnessed by a patron who parked the car in the back lot while observing this unsanitary action. It seems a ""gemini"" of restaurants, seemingly customer service-based as a priority, but quite the opposite if there on the wrong day. I'd take my palate elsewhere. Pros: Nightly specials Cons: The owners, employees more

Great Place 4/15/2008

Small but mighty!! Fantastic artichoke heart appetizer, MANY wines by the glass and everything is fresh and homemade. They have a varied menu, including veggie dishes. It's not a huge place, but has nice booths and a charming atmosphere. (They do take reservations.) One of my fave places. Pros: Fantastic food, great personal service more

Heavenly 3/13/2008

This is a very special place. Start with the welome with Erica, the staff with Pam and Jessica and finish with Tom and Roberto the Chefs and you have one of the most delightful evening you will ever experience. Robetro is a master at combining flavors in his offerings. You need to try some of his creations, there are beyond discription. The Artichoke dip and the Veal Appetizer you must try. Most patriots do not like Liver and onions, but truly this is one of the finest creations in Denver. I believe his menu will offer me a variety of excellent chioces for night to come Pros: Comfortable, romantic, friendly, great wine list, wonderful specials Cons: PArking more

Great Fine Dining Alternative! 3/7/2008

The best kept secret in Denver. Too many favorite dishes to name. Can honestly say I rotate between 6 different things I LOVE on the menu. How many restaurants can you say that about? How many restaurants have the chef/owner come out EVERY SINGLE TRIP to check on his customers. It is not the biggest nor most extravagant place/location but the food is of a quality that you won't find anywhere else. We go out to dinner twice a week and can tell you this place is our favorite. Recommend the clams casino and the artichokes French. You will have to go a few times to try all the favorites on the main menu. And if you ask my wife, the liver and onions really is the BEST you'll ever have! Pros: The Chef! The Food! Cons: Location, small space (make reservations if you prefer a booth!) more

bad customer service 7/17/2007

waitress angry, not happy that we were there at 8:20pm, chef didn't say hi, no acknowledgment of ""happy anniversary"" to us, we felt as if we were not welcome at all, we will not go back or recomend to anyone. Spent over 100 bucks and feel like we walked out with our tails between our legs...no anniversary dessert offerd Pros: atmosphere and food Cons: waitress more

Great Italian Fare, wonderful service 6/17/2007

Fabulous little Italian hole in the wall! We arrived on a Sat night and were greeted by the chef! We were seated promptly ? even without reservations ? which I would recommend. More popular since the last reviewers went! We didn?t get much of the ambiance since we were seated near the door but it was very cute and homey. (Did I mention to make reservations!). We were with another couple and were ready for some yummy Italian, and we were not disappointed! We started with the fried artichoke dish with a cream sauce that was to die for! Their wines were on sale ? well their previous year?s stock. That was a treat! Now that my palette is expanding I enjoy having some wine with dinner out! For dinner I went with the Eggplant Parm which was really really good! Sauce was excellent and since I come from an Italian household north of Boston ? good gravy is a sign of good food! The boys went with the Award Winning Snitzel. They both really liked it ? I took a taste and it was a bit too buttery for me! The last mean was the Veal Anjou which came with berries and bears and gorgonzola ? she liked it but would go with something else next time! Wait staff was excellent! When asked to assist with our choices she was honest and forthwith. My dilemma was pork medallions vs the eggplant and she said tonight was definitely a night for eggplant! It was nice to get good info when eating! I would definitely go back! Pros: Food, Service, Options Cons: Limited seating more

Great Date Place 6/14/2007

I?d like to keep this little gem to myself, but that just wouldn?t be fair to Sansone?s. We went on a whim and were quite pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by the friendly waitstaff with fresh bread, hot from the oven. Things only got better. The artichoke appetizer was KILLER with a sauce so delicious, you?ll want to lick the plate. The Quail and Foie Gras salad was heavenly, with fresh raspberries, blueberries and quail cooked to perfection. The 7-bone(rack) veal melted in my mouth. Bottom line ? the wine list was excellent, the prices very reasonable, the service was fast, friendly and professional, and the food was absolutely wonderful. We can?t wait to go back! Tip ? they have an early bird special dinner. Pros: divine food, great wine list, lots of charm more

a gem of a resturant,,,, don't miss out on this one 2/25/2007

Had dinner during first nite of rest. week and I must say it was a great experience.. The menu was choice of appt.., entree, .. dessert.. With a party of 3 we were able to select all 3 and shared and none of us were disappointed... the artichokes were tender, the salmon cooked perfectly, and lemon creme brule was to die for!!!!! Hands down this was a dinner to remember and we will be back... staff was great.. professional, attentive and quite knowledgeable.. great wine list even tho we choose the wine special for the nite, looking forward to another experience.. good work...!!!!! Pros: quite, parking Cons: no kids, bigger bathrooms more

Delicious Food, Great Personal Service 5/16/2006

I had a group of 20 or so people for a monthly get together and we choose this place based on previous reviews. We weren't disappointed. The staff was very attentive and the food was so delicious. We even had a visit from the chef :). I heard a few in the group talking about going back and as small business owners ourselves we loved supporting another small business in the community. more

Great Food 4/12/2006
