San Antonio Taco Co.

The food is great, but don't expect authentic Mexican. Being able to write on the walls with pencil and sit in shiny red plastic chairs just adds to the experience. Loud and fun. Be prepared to spend $5 if you want to use your credit card, and avoid the bathrooms because they're shady. They make their own salsa and pico de gallo out of fresh veggies and spices, and sometimes it sits out for too long and becomes rotten. All in all, SATCO is about the experience. more

The San Antonio Taco Company is the restaurant that sits next to every university -- the cheap taco/burrito place that's always hopping. SATCO, as it's known, is a reliable place to hit when you've only got $5 but don't want McDonald's. You get what you pay for in terms of do-it-yourself service: you have to stand in a (usually) long line, fill out your own order slip, get your own drink and salsa. But there's a great outdoor deck with lots of tables where you can relax with friends; no one rushes you off even though you only spent a few dollars. SATCO is in a great location, across from Vanderbilt on 21st Avenue South; those cheap tacos leave you a few dollars that you can spend on ice cream at the next door Ben & Jerry's or coffee at Starbuck's, just down the street. more

I loved eating at the San Antonio Taco Co. The food is wonderful and the service is fast and friendly. When I say fast I mean fast. you fill out what you want had it to the staff and in just minutes your food is ready to eat. I was thrilled with the service. I am so glad that I tried this place. If you eat at the San Antonio Taco Co you'll be glad you did. I'm looking forward to my next visit. more

A great atmosphere. This is a casual place frequented by the Vandy students. You can sit inside or outdoors on the deck. You walk up and write down your order, then hand it to the cashier and by the time you have paid, your order is ready. They are quick quick quick. The food is EXCELLENT. I am from Arizona and I know Mexican food, and this place is fantastic! It is very cheap too. Also you can buy a bucket of beer and go bask in the sun with your friends on the deck and listen to 70s and 80s classic rock. This place is so much fun. more
