Overpriced, mediocre food. Nice room to eat in, but who cares if the food is boring, luke warm, and unimaginative? Portends to be "classic" Italian, but adequate at best. Vastly overpriced too. Much better Italian in Seattle or Kirkland. Pros: ambience Cons: vulgarly overpriced, mediocre fare more

salute is just about the most quaint and charming italian restaurant in seattle. my first visit was a couple weeks ago and i feel in love. we were waited on by the owner himself. we asked him for a wine recommendation - he suggested a fabulous italian bottle. we were there until past closing and never felt rushed to leave. i can't wait until summer so that i can try out their patio! more

Crab meat ravioli to die for! An experience that you will never forget, and food that will fulfill your italian craving. An atmosphere that that makes all feel welcomed, and part of the "italian fam" Pros: great cook, great staff, great everything Cons: none more

Great ambiance! Service was first class and the food was phenomenal. They offered a variety of great wines to choose from with exceptional appetizers and entrees. Not a better place to dine in West Bellevue. Make sure to check out the dessert menu if you left room. Pros: Friendly staff, great food, romantic, just awesome more

Best Italian Ever, and Opera too! 2/26/2008

Salute's has the best Italian food, and on the first Sunday of each month they have talented opera singers that sing throughout the restaurant. The ambience is delightful! Pros: Great food, wine and opera Cons: Would love to see a wine bar added to the restaurant! more

Will never visit Salute again 2/16/2008

I've been to Salute a couple of times before and would probably be writing a 2 or 3-star review if I didn't have the experience I just had the other night. We had 6:30 reservations and didn't get to sit down at our table until 7:00. We got water about ten minutes after that then we finally got to meet our waitress about ten more minutes after that. I ordered a drink from the bar ($10.00!!!) and it was mostly ice - three big sips and I was done with the drink...I swear it was watered down. Speaking of water...my glass was empty for over thirty minutes before the busboy returned to fill it again. I had ordered a glass of wine with my dinner, but it didn't arrive with the dinner. I asked the server for the wine again and she didn't return until it was time to ask us how our dinner was. We reminded our server about the wine, but we were practically finished with our meals by then and just cancelled the drink order. When we got the bill, they had charged us twice for each of our drinks. I raised it to the attention of our server and she opened up the bill in plain sight of my date to go over each line and make sure everything was in order. Never show the bill to the people at the table who aren't paying! Anyway....I was very frustrated with the service. The food was okay - we had prawns for appetizers and they were very chewy and fishy tasting, but everything else tasted fine (not bad, not great). In the end, it was $100 for the two of us with nothing but bad service, bad drinks, and okay food. I'll never go to Salute again. Pros: Romantic ambience (when the service is good) Cons: Terrible service, overpriced food and drinks more

Mixed Experience 12/21/2007

We ordered angel hair pasta, mussels & clams, crab bisque, limoncello and two Sidecars. The drinks were $10 each, way overpriced and filled with ice. The pasta and seafood were huge in portions and came with the right amount of spiciness. The bisque in a big bowl was a bit too creamy but we could actually taste the crab in it. The lemon ice cream, because they had run out of spumoni, was nicely presented in a perfectly round ball. We enjoyed the charming and romantic ambience of the restaurant, but it was strange to be able to overhear the waitress telling the busboy how stressed out she was. She was nice but didn't tell us about the dinner specials, which we found out about when another table came in and we overheard her tell them. We also got seated in the corner, which they forgot about and more than once asked if we were there only for drinks. The other reviewers were right about the menu being limited, easy to make at home and overpriced. The manager came waving the check in the air like Moses with the ten commandments when we weren't ready to leave; the waitress came profusely apologizing later; the teenage busboys broke glasses and dropped an empty bottle of wine; and finally the boys were scolded by the manager for being slow and later for mopping up when he spotted us still sitting in the corner. It was not even 9pm when the busboys were mopping up and setting the tables, making us feel like we were in a fast food restaurant shutting down. Our conclusion was that the manager made everyone nervous and thus they were walking on eggshells. Is he from Sicily or part Middle Eastern, judging from the way the words came out of his mouth? So tense was the atmosphere that we felt that a fight was going to break out at any time. The sole cook in the kitchen had a look of worry on his face, another weird glimpse into their world I tried to shield myself from. Meanwhile, the piano man was happily singing. What a bizarre dining experience! more

A quiet window seat nestled in this aromatic, soft atmosphere was more than ideal. Our seating was prompt, the staff was attentive, and our experience was something we talk about to everyone. My husband and I had a memorable and romantic anniversary thanks to Salute! more

Cute, romantic restaurant. They have really wonderful olive oil with ok bread. The menu selections are unoriginal and fairly limited. Almost all the menu choices are easy to make at home. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. It was bland and flavorless. Especially since it cost almost $20! Would not return. more

We were seated promptly on arrival and given menus that were not the same as those on the internet web site. We had not decided on a wine selection when the waiter came over. Instead of recommending something, he got very irritated and said he would return in a minute. 20 minutes later he still did not return. We got up and left. No staff even asked us why we were leaving. That's only the 2nd time I have left a restaurant that way in over 30 years of dining out. more

(Updated on 12.04.08) If you expect Morton"s or Waterfront Seafood Grill Service - this is not your place. This is more informal, family and friendly styled dining experience. I am a good friend with an owner, and I enjoy dining there. We held small and large corporate and birthday parties there, and everyone loved it. Things to remember: this is not Tod English's restaurant so don't expect something extraordinary. But food and wine are just fine, so stop complaining. Each chef has his/her idea on how to cook their dishes, and if it is not what you like or used to, well it's your problem, not chef's. There is no place on Earth with 100% satisfaction rate (even in a 5 star restaurant you may not like everything, right?). Sam does a good job runing the place, and regulars know it very well. By the way, 90% of his clients are regulars and he's been in business for a while, so that should tell you something. And to those who complain about Salute being overpriced. If you are used to chain type/cheap chow, Salute may seem overpriced. But if you dine at nice places frequently you know their prices are actually pretty good. By the way, I just came from NY and at Gramercy Park Hotel's bar paid $9.00 for a cup of tea. Now that's pricey... Pros: Parking, Food, Price Cons: None more

We stopped in early in the evening and were seated promptly. The place filled up quickly, but everything was great. I am not a fan of red sauce, but theirs was fantastic. The only negative part of the night, they forgot to bring my husband's glass of wine..but not a tragedy. I'd say go, but go early. I think the older, negative reviews have given them a chance to shape up. Pros: Food, Setting Cons: Small dining room more

Wrecked our birthday party 7/17/2003

We had the worst experience I have had in a long time at a restaurant. We were seated and there was only one other seated table. We looked at our menu, and more people continued to come in very slowly. The waiter sat other people, took their order, completely ignored us at our table. Finally I went up to him and asked if he would mind coming to our table to take our order. He finally came over about 5 minutes later. Didnt apologize, he was very rude. Then we waited another 20 minutes before our food arrived & it was terrible. If it wasnt my friend's birthday, I would have stormed out of there. I was completely appalled. I also asked for our bill as soon as he brought our food. He ignored me. I will never go back there ever again. Pros: Nothing Cons: Food, Service, Prices more

It's overprice below average food. The wine (by the glass) was awful. The ingredient was cheap, and the cooking was barely OK. Given the price, I can't find any positive aspect in this!! more

I was so impressed with the food, the service and the atmosphere. We had very delicious seafood specials salmon and whitefish with a red sauce with capers and olives and a side of pasta. Good italian wine choices and very attentive staff. We have went two saturdays in a row now. When we returned the waiter remembered us which feels nice. :) Pros: service, food, mood more
