Best

Best stylist and colorist ever!

Worst

If it were not for the great job Kristen does on my brow waxes, I would never darken the door of this salon again! My only...

best highlights in town!!!! 7/24/2008

i have been looking for a new stylist for some time and i was referred to Trey at Salon RED in decatur!! Finally someone who listens to my needs. everything was perfect even down to price!!! thanks again Trey you are my stlist forever!!!! ohh and he is offering a cut and color special for $75.00 Pros: People, Smiles, Energy Cons: Nothing more

Kristen is the best! 7/8/2008

Kristen at Salon Red is my one stop beauty shop. I always go to her for all of my waxing , but this day was a special occasion. I just got engaged and I was going to meet my fiance's parents for the first time. Kristen gave me eyelash extensions and did my make up. I felt so beautiful. Thanks Kristen your the best. Pros: Kristen, parking, great location Cons: nothing more

color made me cry 5/31/2008

I read some of these reviews and decided to try Salon Red. When I called, I tried to get an appointment with some of the stylists mentioned in the reviews but was told they were no longer with the salon. This should have been my first clue. When I got to the salon I was pleantly surprised by the parking as there is a ton! That was the last thing pleasant about my experience. I noticed that the salon was dirty and cluttered looking with magazines thrown everywhere. I changed into a smock as instructed and noticed after I put it on that it too was dirty. No wonder nobody was in this place..it was like a ghost town. Well, I settled in to get my highlites done and was treated to absolutely horrendous music. My highlights were put in but to my surprise, I was finished up by an assistant who proceded to burn my head with a flat iron and pull on my hair despite my complaints and to add insult to injury, my hair is now awful and I need to go get it fixed. Needles to say - I will not be back. Next time I am going down the street to a place more highly reccomended. This was a disaster. Pros: Plenty of parking Cons: Dirty, unplesant, pricy, pushy, not talented more

Not Impressed 5/2/2008

I was trying to get in with my regular stylist at the other location and was told that she was no longer with the company so I decided to try the Decatur location..I love Decatur and the cute little shops so I thought why not? When I entered the salon the reception was cold, there was no place to sit and I had to wait over 30 minutes to get my hair done..the cut was ok but I was not impressed. I felt that the price was too high for what I got and the attitude was "too cool." I miss my old stylist from the other location..I definately didn't go because of the salon..I called to explain my situation and find out where she was and was told that they do not know..I am really hoping to find here because I will definarely not be coming back here. Pros: Cute shops in the neighborhood Cons: so/so hair..bad attitudes..overpriced more

It's Love!! 3/28/2008

I followed Jacqui A. from Fresche. Honestly, I would follow her anywhere!! I'm of East-Indian descent, with long black hair. When I first started with her almost a year ago I was getting really bored with my hair, and I wanted some sort of change, but at the same time I wanted to keep it generally long. Jacqui immediately understood my trepidation (as I'd never colored my hair before), and suggested very natural-looking chocolate highlights. I actually just saw her again yesterday (my first time seeing her at Salon Red) and I just love love LOVE my hair!! The style is long, yet bouncy and voluminous, and the color looks so natural, and brightens up my face. Take it from someone who was overly-protective of her hair... Jacqui is an expert at what she does, is friendly and down-to-earth. She won't make you feel like you know nothing about your own hair (like a lot of stylists and colorists do), and therefore if you get nervous about something, you're not afraid to speak up! If you want someone who knows exactly what they're doing, and knows what look best on YOU, then go see Jacqui!!! Pros: Enough parking, close to Emory, Decatur, Inman Park, Cabbage Town more

Great cut and great color...thanks Adrianne 3/1/2008

I followed Adrianne here from Helmet. She consistenly has given me the best haircut and color I have ever had and I am so happy I found out that she came here! The salon is very nice and the location is so convenient. They are even open on Sundays! Pros: Adrianne, the hours, easy parking more

Best cut color!!!! 2/23/2008

Recently I went into Salon Red in Candler Park, and saw Jackie A. She is amazing. Hands down it is the best color and cut I have ever had!!!! Her ability to listen and her skill are truly an artform!!!! Finally after years of trying to explain what I want, I have exactly what I want!!!!! Thanks Jackie!! more

Alison Lanier is the girl to go to! 2/19/2008

I live in Buckhead and was looking for a new salon to go to. My friend mentioned that Salon Red was the place to go for good service and great outcomes. She goes to Alison Lanier and told me to do the same. I went in not knowing what to expect and left leaving completely satisfied. I got highlights and a haircut and it was the best service I have ever had! Alison is so friendly and did such a good job! She is young and very stylish. I left the salon and got compliments on my hair one after another. The salon is very intimate and the staff is all extremely nice! Good Job Salon Red! Pros: Alison Lanier gave me the best haircut & everyone is very friendly! Cons: None! more

The best haircut and highlights I've ever had! 12/12/2007

After endlessly searching for a stylist, a friend recommended that I try Julian. He was so incredible. I walked out feeling like I had the best haircut ever. I came back there again and had highlights by Kristin and she gave me a phenomenal color. I highly recommend them both to my friends. The incredible thing is that Julian and Kristin actually listened to what I wanted then enhanced it with their expertise. It was a bit pricey but well worth it. I haven't had a bad hair day ever since Julian has cut my hair. They both gave me a style that I thought wasn't possible. Try them both and you'll be just as happy as I have been with them. Pros: Julian, Kristin Cons: pricey, parking more

most comfortable brazilian I've had! 7/11/2007

Having a brazilian waxing done can be a little humiliating, but Angie here at Salon Red made it comfortable for me. She put me right at ease, I was actually able to relax somewhat and turn it into a great experience. They use a different wax here, you spread on a thick layer, let it harden for a few seconds and then pull it off. It is a little more painful than the usual cloth strip method, but since it removes a larger amount of hair and more thoroughly, you don't have to go over it again so it ends up being less painful in the long run. It also has less chance of the hair breaking off in the process, which means less possibility for stray hairs left behind. The main reason I came here in the beginning was because the price is very reasonable, $55 but I will continue to come back for the great service! Pros: comfortable atmosphere, great service and value, easy parking Cons: none more

Great Place, Great Service 6/13/2007

I finally got the courage to change my haircolor and add lots of bold highlights to make it more fun for the summer. I had spotted Salon Red as it is the nearest salon to my house, and decided to go in and give it a shot. I had an appointment for color consultation with Monique. She was friendly and professional from the get go. She followed my direction for how I wanted my hair...only problem was I had done a very poor job of explaining what I wanted, and hadn't brought in any pictures. When everything was done and my hair blowdried, she said that if I wasn't completely happy i could come back and they would take care of it for FREE! I went back a few days later equipped with some pictures this time, and Monique did a fantastic job. I am extremely happy with the results, and just wanted to say THANKS for your patience and professionalism! I will be back! more

Great stylists, trendy atmosphere, reception & wait times not great 2/4/2007

I've been here twice- the first time in a hair emergency. I walked in hating my hair and walked out loving it. Alana did a great job cutting my hair and really listened to me before touching it, something I don't often find. I just got another trim yesterday and love it again. I would definitely recommend the salon. That being said, the receptionist was observed by my husband giving dirty looks to other customers when they weren't looking at her. And there isn't a lot of seating in the front, so if you're early you may have to stand. They do have some cute merchandise, to look at- jewelry and purses, etc., but you may start to feel uncomfortable if you have a long wait. So, bring something to read- they don't have a lot to choose from. If you're going there for the cut , color, or style, you'll be satisfied. But don't look for a big welcome or a comfy place to lounge while you wait. Pros: Great stylists, great products Cons: Not the best up-front hospitality, not a lot of seating more

avoid the owner - can't cut to save her life 10/12/2006

horrible cut time and time again!!!! i don't know why i returned for another time, i guess i was hoping for a miracle. more

bait and switch 8/2/2006

They changed my stylist from a sr. stylist to a trainee without telling me. The trainee ruined my hair. Another stylist tried to fix it, but this will take at least 4 or 5 months to grow out. As a Decatur resident, I try to support as many local businesses as possible. However, I do not recommend anyone going here. Pros: tried to fix the haircut Cons: changed level of stylist without telling me more

Abigail SAVED the Day 6/1/2006

I have dark brown hair and had my hair colored at another salon. I wanted my hair a lighter brown and it turned out pitch black. Abigail was SUPER nice and EXTREAMLY knowledgeable. She fixed my hair and actually made it look better then I originally pictured it. Apparently, dark hair is very difficult to color so if you want yours done go and see ABIGAIL!!! You WILL leave her chair happy. She is also a great value for her experience and expertise. Pros: Very Nice People, Cool Atmosphere, Very Experienced Cons: Bad Parking more

Clay saved the day (and my hair!) 2/28/2006

I walked into Salon Red today after walking out of a "new" Oakhurst salon. My hair was at least two different shades, not naturally occurring in nature, and not in a good way! I literally walked into Salon Red with my hair still wet after fleeing the other salon. I was in a panic - - not only was my hair a HOT MESS from the "new" salon, but there was RED DYE all over my scalp, around my face, etc. LUCKY for me, Clay Eaton was available. He cleaned off the red, toned down the red, and my hair came out looking GREAT! Thank goodness he was there! Everyone at Salon Red was friendly and very knowledgeable. If you are out there looking for an excellent colorist/stylist and a salon with a friendly atmosphere, I highly recommend Salon Red. Pros: Cutting edge colorist, Knowledeable, Friendlyh Cons: Non more

This place is Awesome! 10/4/2005

I am an African American female who has had trouble getting haircuts for my soft and fine but kinky hair. The first time I went to Salon Red, Samantha fixed my jacked up haircut and I have been going back to everyone there for almost two years. They are all so knowledgeable about different textures of hair. I will continue to go there as long as I am in Atlanta. Pros: Good Parking, Next to Good Food, Cute Stylists Cons: n/a more

Get Waxed 8/23/2005

I've never had a haircut here, but I do visit the salon for brow and bikini waxes. I've been to many places, and this one is outstanding. Kristen shapes brows perfectly and waxes are not painful at all. Pros: Easy street parking, Spa area is relaxing more

hmmm... not an A+ 8/3/2005

my first cut there was a disaster. really bad cut. but they were nice and i got another person to fix it and she did a wonderful job! so i am up-in-the-air about this place. i might go back to the woman who fixed it but still not sure. Pros: Close by, Products Cons: Bad Haircut more

Find somewhere else! 6/14/2005

I recently moved to Atlanta and had to find a new salon fast! This place came highly recommended, so I gave it a shot. When I called, I specifically noted that I had naturally curly hair and I needed someone who felt comfortable styling it. They assured me that the person they booked my appointment with would handle it with care. Not only did the stylist make me feel like a 2 year old when I walked in, this person either didn't listen to me or ignored me, but they cut off FOUR inches, leaving my curly hair to shrink up past my chin. I have never left a salon in tears before... I guess this was my welcome to Atlanta!! If you decide to try this place, proceed with caution... more
