Romano's Macaroni Grill

We were with a group of 8, ready to eat, drink and have a fun night. I don't know if this was the first group of 8 our waiter ever had or if he just didn't care. Four of us ordered drinks while waiting for the others. 15 minutes later, one of us had a drink, the other 3 were still waiting. Bread was tossed down on the table and our waiter disappeared. My husband went and hunted down someone to get balsamic vinegar and grabbed a pepper mill on his way back to the table.. Entree's came - it was as if the chef was on an austerity program. One dish didn't have a single artichoke as listed on the menu, one had 3 pine nuts in the whole dish, 2 chicken caccciatore had no sauce on the pasta. When grated cheese was offered and accepted by all 8, the waiter ran out after one dish and disappeared. Came later, did another couple of dishes and disappeared, came later and did a couple more. Nuts! Two guests were out of ice tea and ignored so my friend got up and grabbed a pitcher and brought it to the table. No ice in the glasses but hey, can't be picky, right? I realize the waiter doesn't control the kitchen but he does control the attention given to any table. Perhaps he was happy with the automatic tip that's billed to a table of that size...but he could have done so much better. more

My favorite dish is the shrimp portofino. We enjoy the food but find the atmosphere unpleasant because of how noisy it is, tables crowded together, and families with children who aren't taught how to behave. Therefore, we no longer eat at the restaurant - we order takeout and eat at home. Much more relaxing and quiet. I have no complaints about the service. Most of the servers do their very best but occasionally they are too busy to give excellent service. Friendly employees. We're just tired of eating at restaurants that have no insulation in the ceilings and where you can't carry on a decent conversation. As soon as I opened the door, I was apologized to for the hostess not having been there sooner. Promptly seated, (it was a little after 1 o clock, so I know how the service can be slow) I was offered (and graciously accepted) an ice cold drink. 10 short minutes later I'm tearing into the best chicken parmesan I've eaten at ANY chain restarant in America. A prompt check with a smile later, and I'm out in time for the softball game. more

The food is only slightly better than some frozen dinners. The service is extremely slow and the servers are unaccommodating. The noise level is high and neither parents nor restaurant staff seem to make any effort to control the raucus behavior of children and young adults. The food was mediocre at best, and definitely overpriced. Service was slow. We received our salads barely ahead of our entrees. There are too many fine places in Dallas to eat good Italian food to waste your time here. more
