I am from NYC. My brother and his wife live in Houston, and recently experienced a terrible loss. I wanted to send a timely and meaningful arrangement to them. I had seen River Oaks Plant House written up as ""Best Florist of 2010"" in a local review, and thought I would give them a try.
Although the woman I spoke with was initially quite nice in the phone, she turned out to be misleading, really let me down. Calling first thing in the morning, I asked to order one of the arrangements shown on their website, explaining that I needed delivery for that day, or at least for the next morning. I was immediately given a long list of excuses why they couldn't make the arrangement listed on their website. When the woman heard my story, she said that she wanted to check with a supplier to see if she could get a particular flower in to help out. She said she would be ""right back in touch"", and took my number. 2 hours later I called her, and she said she was still waiting to hear from the supplier, and would be back in touch within an hour. I said that if they could not get the flower, it was ok, and to please call back so that we could figure something else out. Several hours later I was still waiting to hear, and then I was called away to take care of work. Toward the end of the day I called back, and got an answering machine. I left a message, and they never called back, not even the next day. They never gave any reason for their dismissal of my order request. And my ""timely"" flower delivery was set back several days.
I definitely DO NOT recommend this River Oaks Plant House!
