The Margaritas Alone Are Worth It 5/13/2010

Be careful when dining at Oyamel - the food is very good, so you might be tempted to keep ordering. Before you know it, you'll have raked up $100 in tacos alone. But go here anyways; it's a great happy hour spot with the deals they offer (half price tacos and margaritas, drinks on sale). Lunch or dinner is equally excellent - they offer free chips and salsa, but the guacamole is worth the price (they make it in front of you). Try their ceviches, all of which are light and fresh. I also like Oyamel for brunch - they offer many of their usual dishes that you can find for lunch or dinner, but add an array of more breakfast-like dishes as well (i.e. huevos rancheros). Pros: fresh, yummy drinks, flavorful tacos, great brunch Cons: if you're hungry, prices add up more

Amazing upscale Mexican Food 3/30/2010

On the first day of my new job, my boss and a few co-workers too me out to Oyamel to celebrate my new position. I had never been to the restaurant and was curious to see what it had to offer. After just one visit Oyamel now ranks in my top 5 favorite places to eat in D.C. Their small plate menu allows much to explore and their creative choices have you wanting to try many new dishes. I have yet to try their grasshopper tacos, but enjoy their homemade guacamole and other delectable dishes. RUN, do not Walk to Oyamel to try their upscale Mexican menu in a sophisticated restaurant. Pros: homemade guacamole, sophisticated atmosphere, delicious food Cons: $$$ more
