Once Upon A Child

I love secondhand stores. Unfortunately, the prices at Once Upon A Child are not even close to what one would expect at a secondhand clothing store. They offer a good selection of very nice, clean, well-taken-care of clothing; but the prices are too steep for my frugal wallet. The few times I have visited the store, I have walked out buying nothing because I knew that I could buy my son brand new shirts & shorts at Target for the same or less. I will say the store is very well organized and very clean. It is very easy to find the section that contains your child's size clothing. The staff stayed behind the counter and was only helpful if you approached them. I have no plans to return to this store. I can spend my money more wisely at Target. more

I have tried on several occasions to sell merchandise to Once Upon a Child. They will buy some items, at a bare-minimum price, but turn away other clothes for no apparent reason. I have even had them tell me that an item I brought in (brand-new, with tags, never been worn) looked like it was too worn and had been washed too many times. The tags were still hanging off the sides! The clothes and items they sell are not that discounted off of new merchandise you can buy anywhere. So I guess we know they are making a killing, buying clothes for pennies and reselling them at high dollar! more

I love the idea of a children’s consignment store but when visiting this store I was amazed at the prices they had listed on items. I could go to Target and buy brand new for the prices they wanted on some clothing items. I also found the toys to be very over priced and knew this because a couple of items I looked at I had just bought at Babies R Us for less than the consignment store had them priced at. They are very picky about what they take which is great for us shoppers but I wasn’t impressed as I watched them go through my friends stuff. All her stuff was clean and no stains but the lady told her they would rather have brand name items only. I couldn’t believe it. I don’t think that everyone looks for brand name items when shopping for used clothes. I think the point is getting something nice for little cash spent. I won’t return to this store or recommend this store to anyone. more
