Love it, but nowhere close to Chicago style. 3/21/2011

Although I think Nicolo's is really good pizza, it's no where close to Chicago style. First, Chicago style is know as deep dish..hands down. There is such thing as Chicago style thin crust, and this isn't close either, considering when you order, they ask hand tossed (not Chicago) or thin. The only thing remotely close to making this Chicago Style thin crust is the fact it's cut into squares. However, Chicago thin crust has a hard, crunchy crust (on the pieces that have a crust). Nicolo's hand toss has the thickness of Chicago style thin, but not the crust or the squares. And, they don't even have an option for deep dish. Again, I think this is really good pizza, it's just not Chicago style. more

Not bad, not best 3/10/2011

Went to have some lunch, and the place was pretty much empty. Loud music. Three video game machines, TVs every where. Pizza was good, had the ""meat you at Nicolo's"" weird how the cheese was on top of all meat so when a bite was taken by me or my 4-yr old, almost lost the toppings right on to the plate Lol. Service was nice, they brought the pizza out to us, brought us plates, asked if it was good. Even boxed/bagged up our left overs Should of gotten a picture of the place!! Next time! Always love pizza! more

This place is frustrating. We've had some decent pizzas here that can be fairly close to real Chicago style thin crust (even though they insist on cutting it in pie slices rather than the traditional Chicago Style squares) and then we've had many bad pizzas here. Lately they've been more bad than good. You can also get friendly service one day and then some condescending jerk-O the next. You have to order extra cheese or there is never enough, same with the sausage, you hope you get 1 piece per slice on a regular order. One day the crust will be good the next it will taste and feel like cardboard. And never have them deliver. I think their ""counter-culture"" delivery dudes stop somewhere to hit the bong and bottle because it is always an hour and a half for delivery no matter when we order, and it will deliver cold. We've given this place many chances to be our regular pizza place but no more. I'd rather travel to the Walnut or Wyman's No. 5 for better quality pie & service. It's a shame because on the rare occasion that they would get one right it was pretty decent. Advice: Hire a new manager that gives a damn about consistent quality and service and fire the ignorant jerks, in this economy there are better people available that would love a job. Pros: Can be good crust & good sausage, depending... Cons: Spotty Service, Spotty quality, horrible delivery more

2 hour delivery time for a cold pizza and no refund. Thanks but no thanks. Rude condescending management on the phone. more

must eat old slice 6/14/2008

so, whats up with having to eat the old slice first? cant i ever have a fresh slice out of the oven for a walk up lunch? guess not, all i get is the slice from the oldest pie (policy) and its tossed into the oven with crappy ingredients, comes out like crackly cracker bread' with cheap pepperoinies and thick conjealed cheese. yuck. ---oh and the SALADS--- SPONGE CHICKEN IN A CONTAINER WITH OLD ICEBERG, OLD FLAVORLESS DRESSING , SOGGY CRUTONS AND A NAPPY STALE PIECE OF BREAD (AS IF WE NEED IT) . nice people though. more

Friendly and fast but THAT THING IS NOT A PIZZA!!! 10/4/2007

Do you like pizza? What do you think of when you think of pizza? Some people like a softer crust; some crunchier. Some like it thick, while other like it thin. Lots of cheese? Or lots of sauce? Or both. Regardless of a person's preference, I don't find it possible for Nicolo's Pizza to stay in business because it satifies absolutely none of the criteria for pizza! The crust resembles something somewhere between a half cooked matza and a soggy saltine (minus what little flavor either of those have). The sauce tastes likes plain tomato paste from a can despite their claim that it is make fresh daily from raw tomatos. And again, they claim that the cheese is fresh and REAL, but tastes more like that FMV generic cheese stuff that says on the package ""imitation cheese""--it doesn't even melt (maybe it's very REAL soy cheese!). On top of that the prices are just as high or even higher than better quality and better tasting places in the area. About the only nice things that I can say about this place is that the service is friendly and they're fast, but if you feel like eating, then try another place. Pros: Fast and Friendly Cons: horrid pizza-like thing more
