Unbelievably bad 1/14/2012

OMG! So disappointed! My wife and I usually go to Pappa Bro?s or Bob?s chophouse both of which are excellent. Thought we would give Nick and Sam?s a try for something new. Our 9:00 reservation was late, place was packed but we have no idea as to why. Even thought the wait staff were friendly service was very slow and the dining room was loud. Mussel appetizer was disgusting smelled and tasted like horse manure! Seriously not fresh sent it back immediately. Tried the shrimp cocktail as a replacement and it was extremely salty. It was not the cocktail sauce but the plain shrimp was way too salty, how can that happen? more

Lousy Food (Easter Brunch) 4/24/2011

Unfortunately, even for buffet style, the food was lousy. My wife and I tried to recall of the countless meals we've had (from the highest end restaurants to the greasy spoon diners), we've never had such a disparity of money spent to satisfaction received from our experience. The surprising part was how lackluster the entire experience was. The hostesses were overwhelmed (barely kept order of the seating). Overbooked and overpacked the room with tables. It made the room too loud & too congested. Sadly, the food and drink were horrendous. The blood mary was bland tomatoe juice. The cocktail sauce for the shrimp (which were beautiful) was inedible. As well as the chicken and pork. The lone highlight was our server Gabe who did a nice job. This is the one concept I can't grasp...if you're a higher end steak restaurant...and have spent years cultivating that image, why would you tarnish your image by putting out such horrendous food. Nick & Sam's...either stick to your regular menu or take Easter off and remained closed. more

Worst service, I've ever experienced 2/7/2011

We were in Dallas for the super bowl and we booked a reservation at Nick & Sam's for 8 guest more than 2 weeks in advance. We arrived 30 min early for our 9pm reservation. After nearly two hours of waiting we were told that they would not be able to seat us. more

Classic Steak House 8/19/2010

All around good steak house. Dallas has so many steakhouses that it is hard to say which is best but Nick and Sams is a good one. more

Nick and Sams 3/30/2010

I had a chance to take my date to a wonderful steakhouse. I have lived in Dallas for nine years and always gone to Bob's and most recently Ocean Prime. Another guest at Ocean Prime told me about Nick and Sams. Boy, was I blown away from the moment I walked in. From the door to the check everything was sensational. It is safe to say that I won't be going to any other steakhouse for awhile. I was truly amazed! The maitre'd was phenomenal...and you can't miss her! Save a litlle money and spend it at Nick and Sams! It is top of the line. Pros: Attentive service, great steaks, amazing ambiance Cons: can be crowded on the weekends more

Beyond Fabulous!! 2/28/2010

I went to Nick & Sam's for the first time and was extremely impressed with everything from the impeccable and professional service to the outstanding food!! When given direction, the wine conossieur found the perfect fit and my new favorite wine!! The steak was melt in your mouth and the entire evening was remarkable. It is pricey, but well worth it. Trust me!! Pros: Impeccable Service Cons: Nothing! more

Best food in town! 10/5/2009

I came here with my family and have gone there on dates. This place has an amazing atmosphere! Everything that we ordered was awesome and I would suggest it to anyone from a birthday dinner to just a date night. Impeccable service! Pros: Everything is amazing. Awesome atmosphere~ more

Great service, phenomenal food. Lobster mac is out of this world. Dark, cozy atmosphere. best steak in Texas. Pros: The steaks Cons: none. more

Great food, Service. 9/3/2009

I have been eating here for years, the food is consistent, and the wait staff is professional and courteous. Whether just heading to the bar for a drink and some dessert, or a full dinner with 8 of your friends you will leave stuffed and happy. There are times when there is a wait in very busy times, but that gives you an excuse to enjoy the bar for a bit. This is not the place to go if you want to run in eat fast and leave quick, it is a full experience. Pros: Experience, food, ambiance more

Absolute Favorite in Dallas!! 11/13/2008

This is the place to go for special occasions. The food is phenominal the service impecable. I love the crab cakes and the caviar and toast points that are complementary. They have an extensive wine list and arguably the best steak in Dallas. I have been reading some reviews about how long it takes to order get food etc. This is a place for event dining. Meaning eating here is an event. It is not a fast food joint to zip in and zip out. You wil spend for appetizer, entree and dessert at least 2 hours. At most fine dining places this is normal. Also, as a tip, if eating as a couple, you can order half orders of the side dishes and they are plenty for two, plus less expensive. I have been there for several birthdays and have never been disappointed. This past birthday they brought out a special dessert with candle and chocolate that was painted with gold saying Happy Birthday and my name. It was a very nice touch. This restaurant aims to please and is not offended if your steak is too rare or too done. I love, love, love this place. It reminds me of a place where Dino and the others would go back in the day, full of dark wood, suits, piano player, very masculine and fabulous! Pros: Food, Ambience, Wine List Cons: Dark more

Step above the rest 10/2/2008

Our party arrived early, so we ran over to the bar to get drinks. I'd say, within 10 mins we were seated. I'm getting old, so I had to have some help reading the menu since it's so dark. The bone in rib eye is excellent. Very tender aged. You can tell the quality of meat is very different than Bob's or M&M's. Ordered creamed corn as a side and the fries. Cream corn is immaculate. And the fries are just the way I like it, crispy and thinly sliced. This is also a very good place for large parties. Pros: Wine list, ""reasonable"" priced. Lots of who-chee mamas at bar Cons: valet only...very dark inside. more

This steakhouse sets the standard for all others 9/5/2008

Nick & Sam's is the best steakhouse we have ever experienced. The food is excellent, the service is second to none and you feel so welcome. We met the chef (Samir) and he is an incredible person that is a perfectionist. We started with a glass of wine and they treated us to complimentary caviar! The crabcakes are a great start. Their salads are so huge that we share a salad and they encourage that and NEVER make you feel weird about sharing. Then the steaks ~ the long bone rib eye is a sight to behold and so delicious. The chateaubriand is a treat to share with 2 - 3 people. Sometimes we share the 22-26 oz. steak and get some wonderful sides to go with it. When we take guests from out of town to N & S they always remember their visit and how they were treated so special. It is hard to find another steakhouse that even comes close in quality or service. This is not just a restaurant, but an experience! Pros: Food is excellent, service is excellent and charming, friendly atmosphere more

Crowded, busy restaurant with great food and high prices 8/24/2008

Great good, service at the level you'd expect from a high-end restaurant, crowded, and noisy. We went there for the first time yesterday on a Saturday evening. Beginning with the complementary caviar appetizer, proceeding through excellent steaks and the sea bass special, and ending with beignet dessert, all of the food was outstanding. Wait staff were attentive and cordial. We (my wife and I both) were distracted by the extreme crowding, though. There were far too many tables packed together. No one, including waiters, could maneuver between chairs without kicking and bumping them constantly, and there were only a few places where anyone could even maneuver through at all. It was noisy on a weekend evening, and the prices were what you would anticipate... without any alcoholic drinks, our meals together ran $145 with tips. Good place, but know what you're getting into. more

Poor Service spoils a nice place. 8/3/2008

The Problems we have had is all about the bad/inexperienced wait staff. We Like the atmospher at Nick and Sams. The food is good, but it is putting up with the staff that spoils the evening. If I could speak to the owner, I would tell him that he has a great restaurant that the staff is flushing due to poor service. for all the problems with the staff and service, the price is way too high. If they had the service at Capital Grille this would be a great place. Still, it is not as bad as the Old Warsaw. Don't go there for sure. Pros: Nice ambiance and food Cons: Service and lack of training of wait staff - Priced too high for the service you get. more

Great steaks, but over-priced given the service 6/8/2008

Had 9 pm reservations for 4 and arrived promptly on Saturday and weren't seated until 9:45 pm. The bar area was buzzing with activity so the wait wasn't awful, but the service in our secluded part of the bar area was poor. We ordered a bottle of wine and the waitress clearly forgot so we asked another one to bring it. Once we were seated, our server was competent, if an automaton. He seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed. We didn't get to order until 10:15. Lots of attempts to upsell (e.g., Kobe beef). Please! If I wanted someone to upsell me I'd go to one of the Landry's restaurants. Food came predictably late. The ""damn good"" French Fries are so, so...I""ll go to Pastis in NYC anyday over this mountain of food. Other sides of asparagus and spinach were excellent. Pros: Great steak, good ambience Cons: Poor service during wait in bar area and in restaurant, wine not served at proper temperature more

Great experience 12/4/2007

We were seated quickly and without any problems. Service was outstanding. Waiter very professional and attentive. Food was outstanding. The only problem here is that they do not have an adequate valet staff. Had to wait to drop off car and to pick up as well. Definitely will go again. more
