Moeller's Bakery! What can I say! Being a USMC wife I

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/2/2014

Have been going to Moeller's since they were in the Rice Village - bought my son's first birthday cake there (a small white cake with a clown on it) as well as many others, including a special order one that involved batman and a monster truck, Star Wars, chocolate cupcakes with cowboys or plastic army men on them - have never been disappointed. The gingerbread men are the best, as are the orange rolls, petit fours, apple slices and plain white bread (great for French toast). more

disapointed 7/4/2011

iI ordered a chocolate Stars Wars cake for my son's 4th birthday party. It was the worsst cake we have ever tasted. Cake was dry and disgusting, not to mention the lack of creativity. Would have done better at Kroger for half the price. more

Moeller's Bakery! What can I say! Being a USMC wife I more

Disappointed 5/7/2011

I ordered a half sheet cake for a graduation party and was so disappointed in bakery staff and quality of cake. Upon picking up the cake at the bakery I found staff to be borderline rude to most waiting customers and generally apathetic. The decoration on my cake was ho hum and the script was barely legible. The cake itself was significantly dry and the frosting overly sweet and a bit hard. We ended up discarding almost half of the cake due to lack of interest due to reviews by our party guests. I won't be purchasing a cake from this bakery again any time soon. The grocery stores will have my business back! more

Don't write a check or your identity could be stolen! 1/7/2011

I have bought goods from this bakery for many years. In November 2010, I wrote a check for the purchase of a birthday cake. Someone working at Moellers stole my identity and wrote counterfeit checks to the toll of $1500 several weeks before Christmas! Don't write checks to Moeller's or this too could happen to you. more

Moeller's is the best! 2/11/2009

Moeller's is the best ever! I am 40 and have been enjoying their white sheet cake for almost that long. As a young girl I went to the Rice Village location and have followed them to Bellaire. I do not care as much for the chocolate or layered cakes but I wouldn't have a birthday for me or my children without a Moeller's white sheet cake with their traditional pastel icing! more

cake was mediocre, but cookies were great! 2/4/2009

i ordered a regular white birthday cake, after reading all the rave reviews....but was extrremely disappointed....it tasted okay, but much like something i could have made out of a box myself....the frosting was very thick and sweet, much like what you buy in the grocery aisle made by betty crocker or pillsbury.....not pleased at all......however, the sugar cookies are great and reasonably priced....would definitely go back for the cookies.........they had a lot of delicious looking pastries, which i did not try but plan on next time! Pros: dinosaur sugar cookies Cons: white birthday cake and frosting more

Best Gingerbread Men Ever 1/7/2009

I have lived in Houston for 42 years and never visited Moeller's until a few weeks ago. On day one I bought petit-fours and chocolate chewy cookies. The following day I went back for more petit-fours and chocolate chewy cookies in addition to gingerbread men (totally great); ranger cookies, and sugar cookies. It was during the holidays so everything was decorated wonderfully. I had read the service was bad, but my experience was totally opposite. It was me who slowed down my order because I couldn't make up my mind. The individuals working there were great and even let me sample a few things before I bought them. Pros: Great Cookies more

make sure you get what you pay for.... 12/30/2008

The petit fours are adorable, and the taste is a bit above par. CAUTION: Check the box before you leave the bakery. On two occasions, I made it to the party lacking at least half a dozen (paid for) petit fours. I know, I know...I should have checked, but I was in a hurry...and the box was covered and stapled closed. Also, do NOT expect friendly service b/c this isn't the place for smiles and helpful employees (this comment is not based on a one-time experience...have been there many times). more

No Flavor Cocolate Cake. 11/9/2008

I picked up a chocolate cake with butter cream icing for my son's birthday. It was the worst cake we have had. I usually buy from 3 Brothers Bakery who makes excellent cakes. But, they are closed due to Hurricane Ike. There is no flavor to the chocolate cake. It may might as well be white or yellow. The icing is stiff and way too sweet. There is no creaminess to it. I will not be buying cakes from them again. Randall's makes better cakes and they are much cheaper. Pros: location Cons: cakes more

My thought... 8/1/2008

This bakery has been a childhood favorite. Every birthday I had a cake from Moellers. Their pastries, orange rolls, strawberry cake, peti-fours..etc...are to die for!! Moellers is a very original bakery. They will make you feel right at home. They do however, have their set backs with some of their workers. What customer service place doesn?t? We all have a perspective in this. How were you feeling the day you were being waited on? Was everything going your way? We have those days when no one can make us happy. Dont blame it on people who probably have nothing to do with your problem. i am not saying they are perfect, but nither are we. I thank the people at Moellers for having to deal with some of the people who come there. I have been there during Christmas... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! Pros: great food!!! more

Moeller's still the best 7/23/2008

Moeller's has consistently been our favorite bakery in Houston. From their original location in West U, their breakfast pastries and petit fours are a family ""must"". My birthday cakes from my first to, shall we say, more recent have always been excellent. There is nothing like Moeller's to make you feel like it is made just for you! Although I find service a tad slow, it is part of Moellers and I still will highly recommend them for sugary sweets. more

Awesome Mouthwatering Petit Fours 7/9/2008

For over 20 years I've been in the Hotel & Restaurant Industry. Without fail, I always rely on Moeller's Bakery. They're Petit Fours are to die for...not to mention all the other yummie things they bake. I could eat a dozen or more in one sitting! You must try them! more

Birthdays aren't birthdays without a Ms. Moeller's cake! 3/27/2008

I have been eating Moeller's cakes/petit fors my whole life! I'm a choc-o-holic except when it comes to white-on-white birthday cake from Moeller's. Her cakes literally make a birthday. Did I mention how friendly and efficient they always are? Definitely the best bakery in town... more

best bakery in houston, hands down! 1/27/2008

I've been going to Moeller's Bakery since I was in a stroller... and now I'm 27. We've had birthday cakes, carrot cakes, wedding cakes, sugar cookies, danishes, gingerbread men, etc. for years. All of the white cakes taste like wedding cakes and the petit fours are a family favorite. Whenever my mom visits siblings out of state, she takes a box of them with her. We even had them shipped in little plastic containers to us while in college since birthdays felt incomplete without them. This is not a gourmet bakery, you won't get things with french names or complicated fillings. It's a classic bakery, more in the style of what you wish your mom/grandma could bake but prettier. Simple is often way better in taste! It's definitely a family bakery, many of the people I've seen since I was a little kid. They'll learn your name and you'll feel like you live in a little town rather than a huge city. Definitely try them out, I promise you'll be a return customer! more

Outrageously good! 10/18/2007

When I had a belated wedding reception in August 2007, I wanted monogrammed petit fours. I looked all over town and, on the recommendation of several people, tried Moellers. I was concerned when I read one of the other reviews here, but reassured I'd come to the right place when I saw and tasted the amazing desserts - just heavenly! Yes, the staff is busy, but this is clearly a result of the high quality of their product. The hold time on the phone and the wait in line were very well worth it as my reception guests could not stop talking about the wonderful petit fours. They were perfect - exactly what I wanted - and I would highly recommend Moellers!! more

Average items with tiny selection and a good Gingerbread man 5/7/2007

Well, we visited this bakery on the tentative recommendation of Mike Kahn out at Kahn's deli in the village because we were looking for someone that could bake the fabulous French pastries the way we used to get them at Alfred's delicatessen until 1995 when Alfred died and the deli shut down. (Mike is Alfred's son). Pros: Gingerbread man Cons: Inedible Tiramisu, too sweet, tiny selection more

The BEST Cake in Houston 4/24/2007

I absolutely love Moeller's Bakery. I worked there in high school (in the early 90s) and have been going back ever since. We have a Moeller's cake for EVERY birthday, baby shower, and anniversary. The cakes are delicious. The butter cream icing is perfect. Everytime we introduce someone to a Moeller's cake, they all want the address immediately. It's impressive. Pros: everything, all the food/baked goods Cons: parking, customer service, no sunday hours more

Worst Customer Service! 4/21/2007

The baked goods are ok, but the customer service is horrible! I went in with only 2 other people there and they acted like I wasn't even there! People would come up from the back and look around, chat with each other about nonsense and then leave. I had to ask someone to wait on me and it's not even a huge, busy place! I will NEVER go back! more
