Awesome place folks. Great Vietnamese 'fajitas' in chicken or beef. The crispy spring rolls are the best in the city. Open your minds and enjoy the great food and service. more

The trendy neighborhood restaurant next to copy dot com in the Montrose area is now serving Crawfish on tuesdays. Boiled in Louisiana and asian spices to there bright red and steamy pared with new potatoes and corn on the cobb. Pros: ""Best martini"" Cons: await for tables more

An Excellent Meal 4/1/2010

Offers an awesome take on Asian food, not like any other I have ever Tasted. The owners have surpassed all others and created an gourmet taste and product, at a Mickey D's Price! A must try Restaurant! Pros: Patio, Full Bar, Wonderful Service Cons: Very Small more

This place has gone downhill! AVOID AT ALL COSTS 4/14/2009

I've been going to Mo Mong for years. I have noticed a slight decline but after tonight's meal, I will never be back. It took over 20 minutes to get our Mango Chicken Spring roll app. My martini tasted like Robitussin and cost $9.00 - wayy too much. Our food took almost 45 minutes to arrive. Keep in mind we were one of maybe 3 or 4 parties in the entire restaurant. When we were served, the plates were chipped and cracked. I don't know what happened to this place but it's horrible now. I would recommend dining elsewhere. Pros: Food tastes OK Cons: Chipped plates, slow service, wayyyy overpriced. more

Superb 3/19/2009

This place should be in every conversation of great Houston eating establishments. The menu is wonderful with so much variety. Today I kept it simple with a grilled pork sandwhich and the pork was melt in your mouth good. The Bangkok Chicken is also very good. Great place! Pros: Great Variety Cons: None that I have found more

hot tranny thai fierce mess 3/22/2008

Hey, place was pretty good in my opinion. Service was excellent. Especiall since I over did it with the hot sauce and needed like 4 glasses of water PRONTO. Place was really romantic so that was a plus. Cool music playing. Art work on the wall was a little over priced, but that did not subtract from my dining experience. Pricing was fair as well. Pros: rainbow friendly, cool staircase, romantic, cool group setting Cons: calamari more

Great sophisticated vietnamese food 3/18/2008

This restaurant is a cool combination of urban and ethnic. The food is consistently good, and they have more than the standard vietnamese restaurants in town. The food has never disappointed us, and the service has always been excellent. There is always good people-watching here, and the patio is fun when the weather is not too hot. Pros: Great menu and even better people-watching scene more

Top notch grub!!! 3/13/2008

Bo luc lac, Mango spring rolls, (don't 4get the mango dipping sauce)YUMM!...Have an ice cold Tiger lager for me my friend, you'll surely appreciate it. Can't wait to go back. Pros: Good scenery. more

decent food 1/20/2008

We read the reviews for Mo Mong and decided to do take out. The service was quick and the interior of the restaurant was trendy but comfortable. We ordered the mango rolls, gu luc lac, and mo mong noodles. Overall the meal was mediocre for the price and I am not sure that I would return. Of the things that we ordered the best dish was the gu luc lac, next the mango rolls and VERY last was the mo mong noodles. more

My first date 10/15/2006

This is where my partner of 4 years and I went on our first date. We have been back dozens of times since. The food, alcoholic beverages, and atmosphere are pleasant and modern. Located in the heart of the gayberhood, it is the perfect place to let down with friends or bring that special someone. The bo luc lac has always been one of my favorites. The volcano chicken is great for spice. Sping rolls are always above average - I recommend the coconut shrimp spring rolls. The chocolate martini will make you want to head straight to Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco. Mo mong, you are a dream! Pros: food, service, atmosphere Cons: parking when busy more

what happened?? 9/9/2006

When I first discovered Mo Mong - hidden from view in the dark corner of a small shopping center - I was pleasantly suprised. The food and the service was excellent and the atmosphere was clean and modern (though I really think they should paint the place a warmer color than slate blue). This remained for the next year or so that we went there. Then, within the last two months, I have ordered ToGo at Mo Mong at least 5 times - and the food is not as good as it used to be! more

Try it. 2/9/2006

I've been going to Mo Mong for about 5 years now, and I have only once been dissappointed in the food. Sometimes I'll just order appetizers because they are soooo good. The atmosphere is great. They rotate the art, and the people watching is really good. For a relatively small place, it can get loud, so don't go there for a romantic evening. The service is generally a little slow, so keep that in mind. Best mooshu (spelling?) chicken there is. Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere Cons: Sometimes slow servic more

WHEN YOU WANT TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT... 1/29/2006

A friend from work recommended this place for years. Raved about the ambience and martinis. Hit Mo Mong before hitting the bars in the montrose area on a Saturday night. I must recommend the Mango Rolls. Absolutely amazing! Great sake list (recommend the organic rice style) and the martinis will knock you over. Well worth 7 bucks when it only takes one to get you happy! My date had the beef saigon which was fabulous. I had the curry chicken and will try something else next time (the curry was a bit much from what I'm used too). I would love to go and just try appetizers. Very imaginitive drinks and menu items! Pros: Location, Food, Drinks Cons: Cold upstairs! more

First timer and it was great! 11/2/2005

We just relocated back to the Houston area, our aunt lives in the Heights and took my kids to Mo Mong a few weeks ago. My 5 & 7 year old boys (who love Asian food) LOVED it, and wanted us to go back with them. Aunt took us there last weekend and it was great. I don't think I could even bother trying anyone else's spring rolls after theirs. more

Asian Fusion 9/30/2004

The menu at Mo Mong consists of various Asian influences -- so it really should not be listed as ""Vietnamese"". The atmosphere is what you would expect in Rice Village or downtown and it has NONE of the ambiance of a traditional Vietnamese restaurant (i.e., no buddhas or dragon decorations). They rotate the work of local artists to add to the romantic and peaceful atmosphere. If you like Sake, this is the place to go as their selection is HUGE. If you like truly delectable appetizers and entres that are unique, I recommend you try everything!! Pros: Unique menu items, great value, relaxing atmosphere more

artinasia 8/22/2004

This is one of those restorants that u cannot compare to another one. Mo Mong is unique in it's architecture and also in it's food. Even though the main theme is vietnamese food, do not be fooled by this clasification. Mo Mong serves vietnamese food with a twist. Not exactly your grandma kind of cooking. If you are looking for something totally wild and diferent this is the place to come. Food come usually mixed with tropical fruits and undescribable flavors. The drinks here are not very good, my partner had a horrible mango martini. Mo Mong is a must try and then decide if it pleases you taste buds. Pros: artsy, dim, easygoing Cons: , bad drinks more

Wednesday Night! 2/18/2004

At the bar downstairs on Wednesday nights starting at 7:00, $2 martini and vodka drinks night begins! There is a huge turn-out of all different people and I love it! The bartenders are awesome and the atmosphere is really cool. Go here! Pros: Wed. Marti Night, Outdoor Area, Great Food more

I Heart Mo Mong 7/9/2003

I just don't know what the last post was about. besides, if the last post went ""years ago"" why is he rating it NOW?? Maybe he was confused, since it was so long ago. Mo mong is deeeee-licious! I think the waitstaff are sweet and accomodating, the bo luc lac is to die for. I have not had anything there I disliked. The bartenders shake a mean martini. And the ever-changing artwork is fabulous. And Ric is an absolute doll. more

I went years ago... 5/27/2003

I had the Pho there. It was horrible, I swear that its the same instant Pho I ate when I was a poor college student. And my eggrolls (or were they crab balls?) were still frozen. more

Mo Mong 5/26/2003

Mo Mong is a great trendy restaurant with great food. It's a great place to go with freinds or a date. A bit pricy but very much worth it. They also have the best Spring Rolls in town. Pros: great service, great food Cons: No elevator more
