Thankful I found her! 4/25/2012

Having recently relocated to Nashville, I was cautious in selecting a new OB/GYN. I'm thankful that after consulting with several, I chose Dr. Maikis. She's practical in her responses to questions and in the way she approaches your health needs. She performed my fibroid removal surgery in November - with amazing results. I was scared to death...but something about her cautious confidence - not over-confidence (which I've encountered in many physicians) - made me think, ""this lady knows what she's doing and she's going to make sure I'm okay!"" The day of the procedure, she was just as concerned about calming my nerves as she was my family's. She was the first Dr. to recommend that I have surgery (I've seen top specialists in NYC & LA) and I'm so thankful I took her advice - the quality of my life has improved tremendously! Bottom line, she's smart, talented and Nashville is lucky to have her! more

Wish I had a better experience. 2/2/2011

The office and OB equipment was clean, is only thing nice I can think to say. I have read other reviews for Dr. Maikis that are better than mine and a few worse. Here is my experience. Dr Maikis would say one thing and during the next she would say conflicting and then look at me as if I was nuts when questioned about what she previously said. I had family with me during the visit and they also noticed that there were several times between visits where there would be a discrepancy. It was very frustrating. She blew off my nausea symptoms and told me to take ginger & eat crackers before getting out of bed. It felt like I was talking to a stranger on the street giving me advice from a magazine than a doctor. I wanted her to give me a prescription. She said she does not like giving medication during the first trimester. What kind of doctor has issues with treating a pregnant women for nausea and vomiting? I finally got a clue after my third visit and found a NEW doctor who prescribed me zofran and will never return to Dr. Maikis's offices again. more
