a comfy place to chill 4/17/2009

A great place to hang out with your friends, having a beer. The outdoor patio feel of the place makes it fun to just relax. It's popular with the college crowd, but all are welcome. They've got great drink specials for those of us trying to save $$$. Pros: tons of selections, in rice village Cons: doesn't have hard liquor more

Great beer specials 7/17/2007

If you are going to the Village for beer, then be sure to stop by Little Woodrows. It has beer specials for every day of the week - some not so amazing and others that are pretty good deals. The crowd is not so bad either. I was expecting more of the "prep" and "jock" type, but in reality you have a nice blend of people - old and young, trendy and laid-back. Parking may be difficult on busy nights - as is the case with all of the bars in the Village that do not have their own lots. But you are bound to find a spot that is not very far away. If you want liquor, of course, Little Woodrows is not the place to go. However, the Village location gives you a chance to be smart (as much as that is possible while going out at night) with your spending. Woodrows has cheaper beer than the other places in the village, so if you want liquor before/after having some beer, there are bars next door that can serve you. The staff is attentive and does its job. No complaints there. It does not seem like a place for great conversation though. As much as I have a tendency to eaves-drop on other people's conversations, I can't think of anything especially interesting while there. Still, overall, this is a good bar. Pros: Cheap beer, good variety, competant service, good location. Cons: Parking is limited more

great place for a beer on the patio 11/22/2006

quite a small establishment that only serves beer, it's highlight is in it's spacious patio out in front. the ambience is laid-back and "come-as-you-are" with a hole-in-the-wall vibe. great place to hangout and socialize with friends.* Pros: spacious patio, hole-in-the-wall vibe Cons: only serves beer more

Cozy little bar 11/13/2006

Sometimes the village gets packed but you can always get a beer here. Cheap drinks indoor & outdoor seating, and a pool table. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Little Woodrow's advertises itself as "upscale," but the crude black-marker scrawlings of inebriated patrons, framed pictures of American icons John Wayne and Babe Ruth and scantily clad female bartenders add up to Neanderman hangout. Reinforcing male-centricity are the 100 beers on tap, Golden Tee machines and Wednesday's "Big Beer Night", when 23-ounce mugs of domestics are just $1.75 and imports and micros, $3.75.

    The Draw
Sunny, pleasant days bring Rice undergrads and anyone taking a sick day from work out to the famed patio along Morningside Drive. The crowd is young and cliquish, but for the most part, well-behaved. The mood is most serene on Sundays when chit-chatting over drinks lasts all day, and sporting events play all night.
