Lake City Transmission

We took our car in for transmission work, gambling that they could rebuild it for less than the dealer would charge to install a new one. They took six weeks to rebuild it twice and sent it home with us. Two days later there was still clearly a problem. The second rebuild took two weeks and two more rebuilds. We took the car home again. The next day the problem was back; the car was undrivable. The "repair" ended costing as much as a complete replacement, $3k. At that point we took the car in to the dealer, and had to pay another $3k just to make the car drivable again. I am now fighting with them to refund our money. It is the height of irony that they used to be called Lake City Transmission, the transmission experts, and are now called Reliable Auto Care. In my opinion they are neither. Stay far away from this business. They will take your money and fix nothing. Pros: None Cons: Unreliable, slow, ultimately didn't fix the problem more

After two trips and several hours there never was a solution to an odd behavior from my transmission, but the investigation was beyond thorough and I was only charged for an hour of labor. Would definitely go back. Pros: fair and thorough. more

Lake city transmission was to rebuild my transmission. In reassembling my car, they accidentally reconnected the airconditioning into the place the seat heaters should have been plugged into. (I didn't have seat heaters/ hence it was an open plug ) After multiple trips to them and them not knowing why my airconditioning didn't work, they sent me to the dealer who found Lake City Transmissions error for a grand total of $600.00. Lake city said if it was thier error that they would pay for it then have refused to do so. In addition, they kept my care for almost 3 weeks and I heard everyday that I would have it back tomorrow. more

These people are very honest and extremely talented. I was told by me local dealership that I needed 3000. worth of vehicle repair. I went to Lake City Transmission for a second diagnose, they were referred to me by a close friend. They not only gave me a free diagnosis, they also fixed my vehicle for less than 300. not the 3000 my ex-dealership quoted me. Thanks for you help Lake City Transmission! If you are looking for a shop this is honest and very good at what they do, then I suggest you call Lake City Transmission. When I was told by another transmission shop that I need to replace my transmission and the cost could be 2500.00, I went to see Steve at Lake City Transmission and he diagnosed the problem and fixed it with just a sensor and saved me $$$$ more
