Tradition Lives On 10/19/2006

Kuk Sool Won is probably one of the greatest martial arts unknown to most of the world right now. It's not only an art, it is a complete system of martial arts stemming from ancient teachings of the buddhist monks, the royal courts of Korea, and Family Tribal martial arts of Korea. From punches and kicks, to pressure points strikes and grapples, this art truly covers it all, including weapons training upon reaching first degree black belt. To top it off, this art is not only a young man's arena, it's for all people of all ages. Some families we have take it as a recreational hobby for getting back in shape together, some use it to learn self control, and of course, a lot take it to become a martial artist. The hardest part of being a good martial artist isn't kicking high, or punching fast though, its becoming a good person that tends to be the toughest. Etiquette above all else is taught to all KSW students, because it doesn't matter if you can kick the highest or break the most bones, it's being able to have the control to stop yourself from getting into trouble that helps the most, and that's where martial arts etiquette comes into play. I have been to several other martial arts centers and taken a few, I have found that this art combines everything I found in several styles into one complete style. Kuk Sool Won may not always look like its anything tough to do, but then again, if you have never walked on fire you never know how much it burns. In other words, come give it a try and see yourself become a stronger, better person Pros: Excellent Instructers, superb curriculum Cons: lots of hard work ( even though that's a good thing really lol ) more

An Explanation 10/14/2006

Martial arts is as much self respect and self discipline as it is self defense. The negative reviews that are currently listed on this site have all been posted by students at a local Martial Arts School. I will not mention the name of the school, as I would not risk the potential of my own students makiing the same mistake. I know the owner and instrucor this school and feel confident that this is not what he teaches his students. I am sure that these students felt that they were in some way helping to support their School Master, however mislead thay may have been. Please understand that these negative comments in no way accurately depict the teachings of our school, as I am sure the actions of those who submitted them do not accurately depict the teachings of their own school. Good for my kids 10/14/2006

My kids attend the Kuk Soo Won in Pasadena.( These two schools are owned byu the same family) It has been great and I recomend their teachings to any other single parents who are looking for a little back-up. I currently have a 3yr old and an 8 yr old enrolled. more

Traditional Vs. Sport 10/11/2006

I have been attending their other school and can't say that I agree with most of these opinions. I guess everyone sees things differently, but these people have been GREAT to me and my family. If you are looking for a family environment, and more than just a competitive MMA or Tae Kwon Do school, then this is the place. Pros: New School, Good Instruction Cons: Not very many tournaments if that is what youare looking for. more

Good School 5/8/2006

The people here are very nice and they are good trainers (I should know) and for the people that say this is not a good place to train, you are wrong, you were probally in the children class because the adult class is very good .The owner of this school is the owner of Pasadenas as well. I highly recommend Wood Forset Kuk Sool Won. Pros: Friendly staff, World Tournaments, very good classes more

instructors are clueless 4/11/2006

These have to be some of the worst instructors I've ever trained with. They teach kicks, but they can't kick. The classes were boring, in 1 class we did cartwheels almost the entire time. I don't believe the students could defend themsevles in any situation. (although that's not necissarily there fought) Cons: $$$$$$$$, poor teachers, poor classes more

would not train there 11/5/2005

This school is over priced considering what is being taught. The instructors are not very good & this seems to be pasted down to the students. The only reason I can see that they have any students is they put them on contracts. I asked them what happens if someone breaks the contract & they said that they have 90 days to pay it off or they go to court. This was the final straw for me. Cons: undicipline classes, over priced, no talent more

money hungry 8/31/2005

When I visited this school it seemed as if they cared more about money than they did teaching. The level of the students at this school is wosrt than any school I have ever seen. The instructors were not any better. If you are looking for a place to train there are good schools in the area to choose from. Cons: expensive, low skill level more
