I took my 97 Jetta in - a car they supposedly specialize in - and requested that the fuel pump and ignition system be checked. These guys neglected to tell me there was a ziptie holding my ignition system together because it s not something you usually look for and then refused to partially refund me. They also said it wasn t in their job description to tell people everything that was rigged on their car - but I wasn t expecting them to tell me about the ziptie on my emergency brake cable...the ignition system is relevant to what they were supposed to be looking at! more

Honest Car Mechanics 4/27/2011

Ive always been very satisfied with the work on my three cars and have never paid more than market rate for anything. Plus, one time they told me that an issue with my car was the subject of a recall and that the manufactuer would fix for free. They called the dealership, explained the problem, and didnt charge me anything. more

A dependable, convenient and highly competent auto repair shop. 4/5/2011

I have been taking my cars to Key Motors for more than 30 years even before George and Scott ran the garage. They have serviced our Volvos, my daughters Honda, and my Audi TT. I value their advice and highly recommend Key Autowerks. more

I appreciate how Scott & Russell know me (and my car!). They are prompt with getting me in, realistic about how long and how much the repair/maintenance should take and I appreciate their advice on how to manage repair choices as my car ages. 'Love the location - close enough for me to walk home as needed. 'Love their offers to drive me home! more

I walk into Key and I feel like I am greeted by old friends. No work is done on the car until I am called and the needed repairs and costs explained in detail. The work on the car is only done with my approval. Never have we (my husband & I) not been pleased with the service and quality of work we get from Key! more

I haven't had to have my car worked on for a while, but in the past every time I've taken my car to Key I have been given a no pressure, honest appraisal of the repairs I needed. In the past they helped me by prioritizing what was needed now vs. what I can put off for a while and still safely drive my car. I've never left wondering if I was just taken advantage of, which sadly has happened to me at other car repair shops. more

I have been using Key Auto Werks as long as I have owned a car, about 40 years. They currently service my car and my husband's car. At one point, when our kids were home, we had all 4 cars serviced by Key Auto Werks. They are honest, dependable, and friendly. They only do the work that is necessary and their skills are excellent. I have never had to bring back a car because something was broken. I do not use dealerships for service. I always take my car to Key and cannot say enough positive things about them. It is very comforting to be able to trust your mechanics. 4/1/2010

We have used Key Auto Werks for a quarter of a centurty. Over the years they have serviced our Audi, Volvo, and Toyotas. They have moved two or three times and we have followed them around. They are effecient, knowledgeable, and I trust them compeltely. It is one thing we do not have to worry about. We always receive good service at Key Auto Werks. more

benefit of the doubt one too many times.... 6/11/2009

I went to key auto werks on multiple occasions as they were recommended. They return calls, give you timely information BUT are at times, unprofessional. My impression was that they are not motivated to work with one's warranty. It was uncomfortable arranging for drop-off/pick-up although it is advertised as part of their services. More importantly, I was surprised with some of the hot tempered responses I would get with respect questions regarding the repairs and costs. It is difficult for me to make an assessment of the quality of their repairs but I will say I was not happy with certain approaches and recommendations. I gave them the benefit of the doubt one too many times. more

Expensive... 8/28/2007

I tried Key Auto Werks based on the single review here and based on their website testimonials. Unfortunately, I did not have quite as positive experience as others have. It's true that the people that work there are friendly and polite, but as for honesty and fair prices I'm not so sure. I needed a signficant part replaced and the main guy gave me a quote for replacing it. Just to be sure I called the dealership asking for a quote for the same repair. The dealership was nearly $500 cheaper! Hey, I'm all about friendliness and customer service, but for $500 more? I don't think so. So if you are one of the few people where money doesn't matter than I can recommend this place otherwise look elsewhere. Or if you do use this place make sure you understand what you are paying for. more

The best foreign car mechanics in Houston 11/18/2005

Key Auto Werks is the best foreign car mechanics in Houston, and we are so glad to have found them. My husband and I have been taking our BMWs to them for four years and have been extremely pleased with their honesty, their fairness, their excellent work and their general knowledge. They work on BMWs, Toyotas and other nice foreign cars. I like the fact that they are just as comfortable working on older models (i.e. our 1989 Toyota truck and our 1994 BMW), as well as newer models (like our 2001 and 2002 BMWs) - they have proved equally competent and knowledgable of both. They will honestly tell you if something does not need to be done to your car, and they are extremely nice, friendly people. HIGHLY recommended!! PROS: highly competent, fair, honest, versatile CONS: None more
