You want some verbal abuse to go with that pizza? Maybe for christmas I'll buy them a book on hospitality. Damn!! what a strange experience. The pizza is not bad, but the atti...

Just Like Home!! 8/13/2006

I am a greater NYC transplant and 60% Italian to boot. I have been living in the south for about 4 years now and have done nothing but complain every time I've eaten Italian. Well... since finding Joey's I have no reason to complain anymore. Their food is wonderful. Their pizza crust doesn't flop when you pick it up and their canolis are made the right way... with ricotta instead of whipped cream or whatever the rest of the italian restaurants in the south put in them. When you order a side salad, it comes with oil and balsamic dressing topped with salt and pepper just the way my italian grandmother used to make it. My favorite dish at Joey's is the eggplant parmesan. It is divine! It's made correctly and the eggplant just melts in your mouth. There are a lot of places up north that can't make eggplant parm as well as Joey's! It really is excellent. It reminds me of the way my great aunt makes it. Absolutely delicious. \r \r Then there is the atmosphere. There is a dark haired, Italian man (Joey) in a white t-shirt and jeans standing behind the counter tossing pizza dough... and he knows what he's doing. Plus, the family that operates the restaurant really is from NYC and they have the accents to boot. My husband and I just love it. It absolutely feels like home! Thanks to Joey's for opening in Brentwood and saving all of us northern transplants from having to eat lousy Italian food!\r \r Pros: Authentic NYC staff and awesome pizza and Italian dishes Cons: none that I can think of. more

YUM YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/12/2006

Being a southern girl who lived in Manhattan for 10 years, I really did not know pizza until I lived in NYC. All the differnt things New Yorkers can do with pizza amazed me and I was rewarded with a few lbs. Totally worth it though. Then I got tired of BIG city living and came home to TN, but I can now get my fix at JOEY""S. Pizza and TIRAMASU!!!!!!!!! Life is grand!!!\r Thanks JOEY""S!!!!! Pros: Good food Cons: LBS due to stuffing my face. more

Best Pizza Ever !!! 7/25/2006

I think Joey's is great. The only negative reviews are about lack of flavor, get real, you idiots. Joey's pizza has the best taste of any pizza I have ever had. The other negative comment was about how Joey's has gone down in its new location. WRONG. Joey's is the best ever !!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Amazing Pizza, amazing people 7/14/2006

Joey, Chris, and family have the best pizza place anywhere! I visit NYC often. NYC is filled with great resturants. I can't find pizza anywhere near as good when I'm there! I come home for pizza! (And yes, I have visited Brooklyn's infamous Spumoni Gardens!) \r \r If you want great pizza - there is only one place. Joey's\r \r Oh yeah, the lasagna, rolls, calzones, cheesesteaks, salads, tiramasu are all incredible too!!! Pros: everything! more

Absolutely the best pizza in Middle Tennessee!! 6/4/2006

As a native New Yorker, it was hard for me to find ""NY pizza"" until I discovered Joey's. I've been a customer for 16 years -- first at the downtown location and now in Brentwood. If you haven't tried their pizza, your missing a treat. Also try the chicken parmigiana sub. It's a wonderful treat for your mouth! Love you guys!! Rhonda more

super 4/12/2006

Joey's special pizza is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. Be sure to add the olive oil and parmesan cheese. more

best pie in town - HERE. 3/2/2006

As a NY to Nashville transplant, I can really call Joey's a slice of NY. The pizza is perfect - the only ""real"" pizza I've found here. I love Joey, Chris, and the whole staff - they feed me well and treat me like family. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing the food is here. If there were a rating higher than Highly Recommended, I would use it. Pros: inexpensive, great atmosphere, prompt service Cons: none! more

best pizza in the world 12/31/2005

Hands down the best pie you'll ever eat. It is amazing every single time. more

Pizza smuggler no more! 10/24/2005

Up until the blessed day when we found Joey's, I had to smuggle whole, frozen pizzas in my luggage every time I went home to NY to visit! Well, not anymore! Not only have we found the authentic NY pizza we were craving but we found a family away from home! Joey and Chris are the best! The staff is great and Joey has trained them well in the art of pizza making! We wouldn't DREAM of ingesting the swill that passes as pizza in this area ever again now that we found the real thing! The rolls are scrumptious!! The tiramisu is to DIE for!!! Even Ray's ""Famous"" tastes like cardboard in comparison!\r Thanks to Joey's, Nashville feels a little more like home. (Now if we could just teach these people to use turn signals!) Pros: Inexpensive, Family atmosphere, The BEST food Cons: Not open on Saturdays & Sundays more

No one can compare to Joey's! 6/26/2005

Joey's is the best hands down!! If pizza is not your forte, their lasagna and eggplant parmesan are the best in the world...Just ask Joey and he will tell you....they have great salads, top notch atmosphere, etc....if you can't take my word, just drive by their between 11:15 and 2 mon-fri and look at the line going all through the resteraunt...WELL WORTH THE WAIT!! (Not to mention, though the line looks long, Joey ensures it moves quick!!) Pros: Food, Staff, Atmosphere Cons: Hours of resteraunt, Nothing!! more

da best 5/20/2005

I travel all around the south with my job, and Joey's is the best pizza in the south, period. And I know my pizza. This place even surpasses the late Bob Russo and Rocky's Brick Oven in Atlanta. OH SO GOOD AND SUCH NICE PEOPLE. Forgive them their yankiness. more

Joey's the real deal 5/19/2005

You have GOT to be kidding... 2/17/2005

OK people, we need to talk! I feel compelled to comment on a few of these recent negative comments about Joey's. \r \r Firstly, Anthony, I doubt you are a real New Yorker, because Lombardi's ain't nothing to write home about, and yes, your are right, there is a ""famous Ray's"" on every corner. But a real New Yorker knows that Ray's became commercialized after all the hype, and there is only one true Ray's in the Village that makes great pizza. Oh, and by the way, I would never eat my pizza from a Coal Burning Oven, but you give me a Wood Fired Oven - now that's a good pizza. \r \r Second, to the SoccorMom, Joey's is one of the cleanest restaurants in all of Nashville, and they have the inspection score to prove it. I really believe in the Nashville food rating system, and if there was an issue with improperly stored foods, I'm sure it would have been raised. Besides, every pizzeria I've ever visited ""freshened up"" their pizza slices. What do you do at home with leftover pizza? Give me a break.\r \r Lastly, to Sugar... I'm sorry - I didn't get through your whole blog. I got distracted with your use of the numbers 2 and 4 instead of ""to"" and ""for"", so I just stopped reading. I'm sure you have a point somewhere in your write-up, but just for future reference, 4 pizzas 4 the office is NOT a big order.\r \r Look folks, Joey and Chris are good people. They would give the shirt off of their backs for someone in need. The ""rudeness"" that so many people speak of is not meant to insult anyone. YOU try serving 300+ pizzas (est.) per day. The occasional (and rare) order detail may get missed, and non-standard requests may be greeted with a less than favorable demeanor. Just get over it, enjoy the show (and eat the best pizza in Nashville)! \r \r - Du Cotti Pros: Great food, Good people, Reasonable prices Cons: That darn fountain, no Tripe, Need clam sauce more
