Best

All the years I've been going the Hobbit Hole and all of it's successors, I have never had a bad experience. Best egg salad and tuna salad sandwiches in town. I just love this pl...

Here's the problem: the food here tastes like something I could make myself with basic ingredients from an average grocery store. And my cooking, I must disclose, is amateurish a...

Love the food, but not the service 5/24/2009

I've been to this restaurant many times because the menu is absolutely delightful and full of variety, but the last THREE times I visited this place, I left before ordering because I was not greeted at all after 10-15 minutes. And it was certainly not because the restaurant was overly busy. I still daydream about their blackened tilapia and avocado burger, but I just wish they'd hire more staff. Bottom line, don't go if you're in a hurry! more

interesting restaurant 8/18/2005

this place has a diverse menu with something for everyone. it has outdoor and indoor seating. the place is a little hard to find but it's worth it. the food is good and the portions are average. the prices are a little steep but i don't think it's too bad. the atmosphere is nice, more casual than anything. i'd go here with my friends but not my dates. more

Great one-of-a-kind spot! 8/18/2005

Offering a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, the Hobbit Cafe has been in Houston for over 30 years, and still shines. Serving sandwiches, soups, desserts, and smoothies (among other things), one of the best items on the menu (in my opinion) is the white and dark chocolate mousse cake. Sunday brunch, served from 10:30am to 1:30pm, is also an excellent time to visit this spot. Take the time to enjoy the great food, as well as the woodsy, cozy atmosphere. Service is friendly, and prices are good. :) more

  • The Hobbit Cafe has been serving Houstonians for over 32 years. We have a unique restaurant which serves some of the best cuisine in town. Try our black bean nachos, monterey jack cheese, pico de hallo, jalapenos and sour cream. Amazing salads like the tropical chicken salad-fresh Spring mix, fruit, toasted almonds tossed in a tropical yogurt dressing topped with jerk chicken and toasted coconut. The Gandalf sandwich (avocado and mushrooms under melted cheese), avocado burger, buffalo burger and black bean burger are very tasty. Try the Caribbbean Salmon, grilled with spices and topped with jerk sauce, mango salsa and toasted coconut, valinor-steamed vegies piled high over brown rice and beans.
