dixon bain was such an idiot. my dog got sick, I took him in, asked for every test in the world to be done. he said there was nothing wrong. I took him back several times, then he said he had liver cancer by feeling his stomach (no X ray). I had taken him in with head pain, he said there was no way to see inside a dogs head. \r Ended up it was an infection that got so bad it killed him, and you CAN SEE INSIDE A DOGS HEAD - WITH A CAT SCAN OR MRI. \r DON'T GO HERE! more

My kitty was hit by a car this morning. I heard the screeching of car tires, saw my kitty airborne, then hit the pavement twisting and writhing..... He ran off to the neighbor's yard, but was obviously limping and in shock. I was in my robe, no shoes, nothing.... I ran to him, got in the car, and drove straight to Hillside. The first lady who saw me immediately took my kitty to the examining room. The female at the front desk immediately started going over estimated COST and when I explained that I did not have my purse (money) with me, she said ""Just go home and get your money"". GO HOME AND GET YOUR MONEY. THIS is the first thing said to me as I stand in the lobby at 9:00 am in a robe with blood and dirt on it, my kitty having just been hit by a car. I don't know. YOU DECIDE IF THIS IS CALLOUS. (And yes, I HAVE the money and I paid the vet bill) I would say that SENSITIVITY TRAINING should be the FIRST THING that is administered to the female at the front desk. And I am NOT some person who walked in off the street with an injured feral animal. I AM A REGULAR CLIENT OF HILLSIDE. They have been caring for my kitties for OVER A YEAR - and THIS is how I am treated in an EMERGENCY SITUATION? ""GO HOME AND GET YOUR MONEY."" How absolutely, positively, totally, and completely, UNFORGIVABLY CALLOUS and PATHETIC. While the actual vets that have treated my kitties over the past year have been very kind, this type of behavior by anyone at the front desk is just INEXCUSABLE!!!!!!! more

Did some research on pet cemetery and crematory referral from Hillside VC...QUICK, RUN, & FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE! Pet Rest Memorial Park & Crematory has a bad write up and many bad reviews. Before reading the reviews, I called the place and spoke to Rick...somewhat unpleasant person to talk to, and he wanted an extra $100 for me to give him to have a private cremation for my pet dog. Furthermore, there will be no documentation and no assurance that I will be getting the right ashes of my dog. Rick told me that I just have to trust him, and that I am not allowed to stay for the creamation process to finish and wait for the ashes of my dog. Lucky me, I was able to stop Pet Rest from picking up my dog from Hillside VC and I was able to find a reputable, professional, and compasionate place to do the cremation. Unbelievable! more

I take both my dogs to Hillside and have had nothing, but good experiences. Their hours make it super convenient to schedule appointments around my work schedule. Also, for the area, their prices are pretty competitive. We primarily see Dr. Huskey, who is great at explaining things in plain English and is incredibly capable. My dogs are pretty healthy, but one has required a major surgery. She talked me through it and made me feel at ease. She was also good at explaining the cost-benefit analysis of what my dog needed. They do not offer any discounts for rescue pups, which I see as a drawback. However, when I've used the mobile PetVax place to save money on vaccinations, then submitted the records to Hillside, they've never given me a hard time about it. I've never boarded my dogs there as I don't like the idea of them being confined in a kennel 24/7 save a few brief potty breaks. However, this is likely the set-up at pretty much any vet, which is why I use a facility dedicated to boarding (Barking Hound Village, which also has super convenient extended hours). I am a teacher near Hillside veterinary clinic.\r We are often brought animals that are found on the playground, many actually dumped. Recently I was brought outside where a cat was found. It was obvious that the cat was not well. We were able to get it contained in a pet carrier, called a parent, then drove it to the clinic. The full story was explained to the clinic. They decided that the cat needed to be euthanized, which I believe was an accurate decision. The parent then came back and told me the cost. After thinking about it I was outraged. The clinic knew the situation. I understand paying for the cost of the medicine, but not for an ""office visit"". The clinic was aware that we were trying to help an injured animal that did not belong to us and we had no way to find the owner. Their policy should be to consult the necessary people and then determine the charge. I called the office three different times, one to check on the cat, and two to discuss the charges. Please be aware that this is not a clinic that treats individual cases, but treats every case as a number. more

Highly recommend this vet clinic. They give the best love and attention to your pet. Their cost is reasonable and they look for options to make the visit more affordable. more

Our experience with this vet clinic was terrible. During our dogs week long treatment there, we were treated with unreliable and untrue communication regarding our pet's status, medical advice that was inaccurate, and witnessed unkind treatment to boarded dogs. Do not be fooled, as we were, with the convenience and front that is given from the doctors, technicians, and others at this clinic. more

i stumbled across hillside 8 years ago when i first moved to dallas. i was shocked to see that my dogs had fleas and ran to the nearest clinic i could find. the staff assured me that this was a big problem in the summer, and i was not alone. they even taught me about a few options for getting rid of them ASAP and keeping them off. when my pets were due for shots, this was the first place i came to. my first vet was dr. potter. she is amazing. there is not enough room for me to sing her praises. she has even come to my house to give vaccinations to my cat that turns evil the minute we walk in the door. she hugged me and cried with me when i had to put one of my babies to sleep. most recently, she has been helping my oldest baby with an auto-immune disease. her assurance and kindness and knowledge is not only helping my baby, but is keeping me calm and sane, too. and, because she does have to have a day off every now and then, i've come to know this kind of care from all the doctors here. how could i ever go anywhere else? i understand now why they are so busy. but i'd rather wait for the best than settle for anywhere else. thank ou, thank tou, thank you hillside. you truly do an amazing job. thank you for all the care and compassion you show. and thank you for the newest additions to my family- while the kitties can be brats sometimes, they bring so much joy. and guess where they're going for shots? dr. potter, of course! Dr. Merrill is ""the"" most compasionate vet I have ever experienced! She always is on the floor playing with my dogs, and she is very honest and educated! I love Hillside Veterinary clinic! I recently adopted a dog from there, and they were so helpful in making sure he was a good fit for my family and I. His name is Austin, and he is the best dog anyone could ask for! All of the staff at Hillside were so great and informative about preventatives he should be on and what his annual vaccine schedule should be! Alot of the staff even call me to check up and see how things are going! I strongly reccomend this clinic and I really respect and enjoyed the entire staff! more

I keep going back to Hillside Vet Clinic because it is very close to my house. But please be aware that they close on Sat. and Sun. at 3pm. now and not a soul checks back in till 7 am the next morning. That leaves your pet, alone, in a cage, for 15-16 hours. My sweet pet died and part of me died with her. I sat at home and realized with a gulp that it was way too long for a sick animal to go unattended. They did tell me about the option of moving her to an emergency clinic, but I felt that moving her would be hard and that it would be very expensive. Was she not already at a vet clinic????? more

Our pets have gone to all of the vets: Dr. Bain is very sweet and always sees are pets; he has stayed late on a couple of occasions for us. Dr. Chritton is very thorough and kind to our pets. She answers all our questions (even the silly ones!) and personally ensures our pets are cared for when they are in the hospital. Dr. Potter sees our kitty with a heart problem every 6 months and she also does our cats declaws (13 years we have had 4). She is a terrific person and an excellent surgeon. Dr. Huskey is great! She truly loves our pets and our family; she greets us with a smile and is comforting during difficult times. Last weekend my sister's cat became deathly ill. It was on superbowl Sunday and my sister's vet was closed. I called Hillside, spoke with Dr. Claybrook and told her about my sister's sick cat. Despite Dr. Claybrook's schedule being completely booked, she did not hesitate to say, "" tell your sister to come on in, I'll make sure her kitty is cared for"". And she did! She stayed late (she missed half the party she was hosting at her home) to save ""Squirt's"" life. \r The people at Hillside are truly the most caring, compassionate and talented vets we have ever seen. I've been using Hillside since I moved to the city of Dallas (about 4-5 years ago) and would highly recommend them. Hours, responsiveness and just general care has been about the best of any clinic I've ever used.\r I mostly see the same vet, who I really like, but with 3 kitties, stuff comes up. I have always been pleased with my expience at Hillside. As I said, the staff is nice, the vets are smart and caring and you can't beat the late hours.\r This is a large facility with lot's of business, so just be prepared for that. But I do like this place and the people that work there. more

The staff are curteous, respectful, friendly, understanding, patient, well educated. We have the best cat dr. (dr. chritton) and the best dog dr. (dr. bain) out there... I can't say enough good things about all the years I have brought our 3 animals here.... I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone! more

Hillside Vets are absolutely wonderful. They have taken care of my fiance' and I's four dogs and done a great job with every one of them. One of the dog in particular is sort of a health disaster. She had an emergency last summer (got bitten by a friend's dog) and they were wonderful both in her care and in calming our fears. She also had to have a complicated knee surgery that went very well.
