ME AND MY WIFE WENT THERE YESTERDAY, 4 LUNCH AND FOUND PLAIN FOOD. AND I WAITED FOR 15 MINUTE FOR MY CATFISH PLATE, JUST TO FIND A HAIR ON MY FISH. I TOLD THE WAITER AND HE SHOW THE OWNER , HE BROUGHT OUT A NEITHER PLATE, NO APOLOGY ARE NOTHING. I GUESS IT WASN'T A BIG DEAL 2 THEM. IT SUPPOSE TO HAVE A HOME MADE FEEL TO IT. No longer ""Best BBQ"""" 11/17/2009

I have been going to Hickory Barn for over 15 years and use to rave over their chicken fried steak , that was until last week I drove from Katy and was very disappointed it tasted as if someone took a frozen swanson chicken patty and put it in the microwave and served it with watery gravy !! What happened to the ""REAL"" chicken fried steaks?? more

best genuine BBQ I've had in a while 2/25/2008

I was really happy to find this place--my favorite spots have shut down or are long gone. I grew up in Houston back when there was basically only pasture along I-10 between the city limits and Katy, before the malls and the Home Depots. Walking into this place and having a brisket poboy soaked in bbq sauce with a side of fried okra is like being home again. You just can't find bbq (and sauce) this good, and a place this genuine, in Houston anymore. I love it and hope it sticks around for a long, long time. more

I crave their Barbeque! 10/28/2005

Hickory Barn has been my favorite barbeque place for fifteen years. When I was away at college and came home for a visit, Hickory Barn was the place I wanted to have dinner on my first night back. My favorite is their Chef salad with beef. The rib basket is also great. My husband (whose family loves this place too) always gets the chop beef sandwich with a side of okra. They also have great pies. Always great service! Pros: Great food, Inexpensive, Great Service Cons: No personal checks more

Pleasantly surprised! We used Hickory Barn to cater a big event and they were a hit! The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful. I am not a big BBQ fan, but I found myself enjoying every bite. more
