Dan seems to be the main guy there: either he is the owner or he is one of the seniors. He picks up the phone constantly (read: during haircut session!!) and takes more than 1 hou...

terrible. would rate negative if i could 4/24/2012

overall i would rate this salon in the negatives if i could... I went in with blonde hair natural highlights.. i wanted a purple peek a boo through my bangs with is just the purple underneath and blonde over top and then some blonde highlights that make my ends. When i first came in the girl seem super crabby and i could tell she did not want to do the service her name was Shannon. she went over what i wanted and i told her exactly. she never showed me a color book or anything and i guess i trusted her with the color thinking how could someone really screw this up. during the service she was texting in front of me and while drying doing other things in the back room. she put a cap on my head and tried blow drying the foils just so it could go faster and she could get out of there. after she took them out she just washed them all together and the purple which was only suppose to be one lil strand she put in multiple highlights through my Head!! those which weren't even suppose to be there bleed through my head making my ends all purple and the rest of my hair grey.. i did not know this coming out of the salon but thought my WHOLE head was purple because she refused to dry my hair. she told my get some clarifying shampoo and take it out if i didn't like it.. umm no i paid 100$ for this service I'm not taking it out tomorrow? and she knew it wasn't what i wanted.. well i just paid and walked out not really know what i actually had or anything.. i showed my friends and roommates and they came back to the salon with me they refused to give me Any of my money back except to bleach it which can make ur hair fall out or terribly damage it or turn funky colors. and they want the same girl to do it. she was over all very rude and so was the manager Dan, he told me i should have gotten clip on or blahhh blah blah which they shoulda told me about before... and the girl said its my fault because i have blonde hair!!! well fricken warn me that before you do it then duhhh! how would i know. i had a pink strip in my hair before and it didn't turn my whole head purple.. and overall the blonde highlights which u can hardly see and the purple ones aren't even to my roots they are TERRIBLY done and u could tell she was rushed.. overall i think there is some good people in the salon but i would get a recommendation to those people don't just go in... and DO NOT GO TO SHANNON and if you don't want to be treated terribly don't go in at all more

Do NOT ask for Lisa! 12/4/2011

If you decide to go here, do NOT let Lisa cut your hair. She's absolutely HORRIBLE. My sister went to Hair Forum for the first time yesterday, and I tagged along for support. My sister has thick black hair. Being Asian, she has found it difficult to find a good hair salon in Madison... so she thought she'd try this out. When we first walked in, we were greeted by Lisa at the front reception desk. She didn't seem very friendly. Since all the other hair stylists were busy, she said she'd cut my sister's hair. During the beginning consult, my sister wasn't sure what hair style she wanted. Her hair reached mid-back, and she wanted a dramatic chin-length cut but something easy to maintain. Lastly, she was very specific with the following: feathery cut at the ends (shaggy look), layers, and some thinning out. Lisa said she would cut it short in the back and long in the front. I asked if it would be like the Victoria Beckham style. She reluctantly said, ""kind of."" She wasn't very accommodating. She gave me a chair across the aisle, and I wasn't sitting anywhere near my sister. The overall haircut took 30 minutes, including the hair washing and blow-drying. This is disappointing because it really should've taken at least an hour. My sister said, ""Wow, that was quick."" Lisa's response: ""That's because I'm that good. I've been doing this for a long time."" She even mentioned that she has 12 years of experience -- yeah right! As the end result, my sister had a straight cut and NO layers. Her hair was thicker than it was; it was almost like a big mushroom cut. Additionally, the fronts ends were the same length as the back -- what happened to the ""inverted bob"" look that was promised?!! My sister and I wanted to complain, but Lisa chopped off nearly 1 foot of hair; we didn't want her fixing it and messing up more. As we were walking up to the front desk, one of the guy hairdressers looked at my sister's hairdo and was appalled. His facial expression was, ""Are you serious?"" From reading the other reviews, it seems like this is the only one of Lisa. However, if I can help someone avoid a bad experience, I hope this helps! more

The only place i go to any more 12/29/2005

Let me start with a caveat. I'm a poor college student - my haircut/hairstyle is modest. Pros: 1. the staff is professional -- there is none of that constant inter-staff chitter-chatter. 2. they are skilled -- this is not an all-clipper cut place. 3. the cutting stations are somewhat walled off from each other, so you have a feeling of privacy and calm 4. Even though I come in very infrequently, my stylist (DEAN) remembers me each time and recalls what he did the last time and re-evaluates what i should get. Some cons: 1. Not the cheapest place for a college student. I pay around $23 for quite a plain cut. 2. I find that I am kept waiting a good 10-20 minutes despite having an appointment, That said, the pros above heavily outweigh the cons. i'm not going anywhere else! Pros: professional staff, skilled staff, relaxed atmosphere Cons: pricy for a student more

Gina is great! 10/25/2002

All in all a great experience, I was going to Vegas for vacation and wanted a cut and style. My hair was difficult and she never complained. GINA. She also did not try to push the sale of their hair products which I hate when they do that. Pros: Inexpensive, Gina was nice Cons: Parking is a problem, Snotty Receptionist!!, Some snotty Stylists more
