The Mansion Hill Inn is located at the corner of Pinckney and Gilman. The picturesque hotel is located in the Mansion Hill district of the city. We attended a wedding at the Mansion Hill Inn. The room was lovely, and the atmosphere was exquisite. The staff seemed eager to please, and a good time was had by all.

Rooms here are GORGEOUS. I stayed in both the James Whistler and the Atomic rooms. Very interesting decor that goes from traditional to modern. And not a DOILEY IN SITE. If you have 'bed and breakfast' phobias like I do (hatred of shared bathrooms, thin walls, frightening lace/plaid/floral decor)..NEVERFEAR. You will love this place. It's tasteful on every level, quiet, private, and, depending on the room, features great whirlpool tubs or steam showers. All rooms have cable and free internet access and floor to ceiling windows which access a balcony or patio. Some with skylights over soaking tubs/whirlpools. You'll love the lush mattresses/sheets and Aveda products and wine reception in the evenings. The location is close to everything (shopping, Overture Center, The Capital, etc. You can't go wrong. Please DON'T bring your kids. The staircase is tall and winding, and hey, you'll ruin the atmosphere for the rest of us.
Pros: Decor, Internet Access, Location
Cons: Distant Valet Lot

ok, so madison is pretty chill and has lots of hippies and not enough swank most of the time. But if you want to do it up fancy, this is the ONLY place in madison to do it. Views of the capitol or the lake, walking distance to pretty much everything that visitors want to see (farmers market, state street, convention center, capitol, UW union terrace, both lakes, etc). You can easily taxi it from the airport or park and never have to drive during your entire visit. The most upscale hotel Madison has to offer (which is a bit sad, but it is pretty nice) Madison's best restaurants are in wlaking disctance too (L'etiole, Magnus, Tornado) as far as fancy, great food and spending your money goes

We really enjoyed our stay at the edgewater. It's within walking distance to state street and the capital. The rooms are exceptionally clean and nice. They also allow pets, so we liked the fact that we could bring our dog along with us. Try the internet for pricing.

I absolutely adore the Canterbury inn in Madison, WI. Each room has a mural of a different tale from the Canterbury tales. The rooms are so comfortable and they will do anything to make you even more comfy. They leave you cookies and soda/water etc. They bring you wine and cheese in the evening. And breakfast in bed-- so wonderful. We've been going every anniversary. Even after having kids-- we just bring them with. It is right on State street so you can walk everywhere.

More
The Hilton Hotel Monona Terrace is located near the Capitol Square. The hotel is comfortable and clean. The rooms offer a view of The Capitol or Lake Monona. An executive lounge is available for guests on the upper floors of the hotel. The lounge provides a lovely panoramic view of the city. The Capitol Chophouse is located in the hotel. The restaurant is, perhaps, the best restaurant in the city. The restaurant features steaks, and a variety of excellent seafood is also available.

...go to the Quality Inn on Cahill. We have for the past 6 years, and to date have never been disappointed. The rates are reasonable, the free breakfast convenient - eggs, bacon, all the tasty cholesterol no no's along with healthy options and great coffee. The hotel rooms aren't tremendously different than anywhere else, neither is the pool/amenities - THE STAFF are the reason to go. We have on every stay received above and beyond professionalism and manners. It's clear they genuinely enjoy working with people. We've been to many over rated over priced chains, the Quality Inn's staff stand out as the clear leaders in QUALITY.

this bed and breakfast is an absolutely perfect place to stay. the grounds, although very small, are carefully groomed and just gorgeous. even though it is on a somewhat busy road, you feel as if you are at a country cottage. the main room is incredibly open and airy, with high vaulted ceilings, and a large sitting area. the hosts are kind and welcoming and the food is good. they obviously take their goal of being environmentally friendly very seriously. this is a very peaceful place to stay, and is less than 10 minutes from downtown madison, either by car or by bus.

More
A bit off the beaten path, this hotel is nonetheless are good find, especially when I visited--U of W Graduation time. My room was not large, adequate though. I was impressed with the amenities--interactive television, videos on demand, music on demand, high speed internet, large workspace, not to mention a clean room. It is a bit east of the ideal downtown area (State Street) but nestled in a nice area with a Holiday Inn and large Kohl's shopping center surrounding. Getting to U of W-Madison campus from the hotel isn't hard either. The hotel is certainly not the finest in eccentric Madison, but far from the worst--there are plenty of less attractive motel selections, and this Crowne Plaza has a beautiful heated pool, restaurant, game room, business center, and workout room to accomodate its guests. It's a nice moderate, clean hotel.
Pros: Amenities, Priority Club Member, Cleanliness
Cons: Location, Pool Location
