Nothing Special 5/22/2009

Ordered delivery from here. Food arrived over an hour after ordering, they assured us it would be here in 30 minutes. Dishes were cold, soggy, and difficult to eat out of their fancy looking take out boxes. Flavors in most dishes were nonexistent, and the few that had flavor must have had every spice in the kitchen in them. In the end I enjoyed the bread and thats about it. As the headline states, nothing special, there are plenty of other great places in the area to try. Cons: Delivery, Flavor more

Bruch is a Lock 7/7/2008

I used to live on the West Coast, and I have a fondness for breakfast burritos. Flo is my favorite place in Chicago to try to recapture that West Coast glory. It's kind of steep, but delicous, nonetheless. In fact the whole brunch is inspired by the Southwest. I've never had a regular meal there, but they also seem to have a wide variety of options. Last time I went, I had the blueberry pancakes, and they were perfectly cooked and perfectly balanced with the blueberry to batter ratio. Another important fact to be noted is their use of my favorite local coffee, Intelligentsia. You are able to help yourself to it when you're waiting for your table, but, contrary to popular belief, it is not free. They add it to your tab when you are seated. more

I would say your average brunch place 12/28/2007

Went here from reading the reviews and would say that the food was basic and regular nothing really extraordinary. From the reviews I was expected so much more and didn't really see the hype. The food was good and regular. more

Amazing Meal 11/18/2007

Just got back from Sunday Brunch. We were looking for a replacement brunch location due to the temp move of Dodo. This place has it all! Good food, great food, fast service and reasonable prices. Free coffee during your wait (which was only around 25-30 minutes) topped it off. Would highly recommend this place and will sure be back! Pros: Everything Cons: Dont sit by the door if you can help it, but a busy place is a good place more

Terrific brunch place! 3/23/2007

I happened to be in the Ukrainian Village last summer and tried Flo, after hearing good things about it. It did not disappoint! The pancakes were out of this world and my friend's egg sandwich was huge. We went on a weekend, with a group of 5 people, and didn't have a problem getting in. The service was great, coffee cups were always full, and the food is absolutely delicious. A great value. Pros: Yummy eggy sandwiches, good value Cons: Ukrainian Village is too far away for me to go every weekend! more

The best breakfast joint in Chicago. Period. 1/25/2007

We've been to many breakfast restaurants in the city but FLO easily beats them all. We heard Ann Sather was good. OMG. It was horrendous compared to FLO. In fact, it's unfair to put them in the same category. FLO has very unique dishes that are made right each time. The chorizo burrito and chilaquiles are delicious. Their coffee is nice and strong. The service is completely awesome. \r Development opportunities: Control the draft, you can feel the cold air if you sit near the entrance. We've had some juice issues in the past. \r Pros: Damn good for breakfast/brunch Cons: Don't sit near the door, it's cold. It gets packed. more

Brunch 10/5/2006

What a great little find this restaurant was for me trying to offer out of town guests something better than the typical overpriced brunch of downtown. Went on a Sunday for brunch, and there was a small wait. A locals spot for sure, but a very welcoming atmosphere. Coffee offered while you wait for a table outdoors on benches or standing. We were seated promptly. A very nice menu offering. Certainly not your typical brunch menu. The food was fresh, well prepared, and delicious, service was above standard ... while waiting the host took a chair to an elderly man waiting outside of the restaurant so that he did not have to stand. Compassion, great service, good food and the price can't be any better. I love this place. Pros: Great Brunch, Good Service, Fantastic Price more

THE Best Bloody Mary in the world! 8/30/2006

If you like spicy bloody mary's then you need to head to Flo for breakfast and jump into one of their Chile Verde Bloody Marys. Its made with a poblano sauce base (so it's green, not red) and tastes incredibly fresh. You will immediatley feel the great sting in your throat from how spicy this drink is. It's not hot just for the sake of being hot, but hot from all the fresh peppers and spices they must use. Feast has a really good Bloody Mary, but it doesn't hold a candle to the one at Flo. The food is excellent as well - try the chilaquiles. Pros: The spicy chile verde bloody mary and the chilaquiles. All the food is GREAT. Cons: Could open a bit earlier on the weekends for us early risers. more

Twice in a week 1/23/2006

My wife and I enjoyed incredible breakfast on a Sunday morning. We really didn't want to leave. Great food, cool space and friendly service. I liked it so much, I scheduled a business breakfast the following week and my associates enjoyed immensely. Pros: cool, great food , good, warm service more

Great guacamole! 9/25/2005

Excellent brunch spot. Great eggs, food seemed healthy, fresh & definitely not greasy. Cozy atmosphere. Pros: food, price, good parking Cons: noisy more

Best Brunch I've Ever Had 3/13/2005

I am originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I am telling you.........the Huevos Rancheros (for brunch) was to DIE for. The red chile sauce (Hatch, NM) was wonderful, the eggs were cooked perfect, and the tortilla was warm and delicious. My husband had the same with a side of french toast and homefries. We will be regulars without a doubt! Pros: Food, Food, Food Cons: N/A more

Go with the Flo! 11/15/2004

Wow. Went a Sunday morn and had to wait about a half hour, but WELL worth the wait. Good God! I had the huevos rancheros. My brother got the breakfast tacos. Wife had the strawberry pancakes. Aunt Mildred, they were good! And food is all under 8 bucks...you can't beat that. The inside is cool without being pretentious, and the tattooed lad waiting our table couldn't have been a nicer chap. I'd say best kept secret in the city, but judging from the wait, maybe it's not so much a secret. Only drawback is that the place is not built for parties of more than about 4. You're best off going with a party of deuce. Hoddy toddy, what a rush! Pros: food, price, atmosphere Cons: , busy more

What a meal! 8/22/2004

The food here is great. We arrived around 11 AM for brunch and had a short wait which was no big deal. The atmosphere inside was great, good art and eccletic vibe. What blew us away was how awesome the food is! The egg sandwhich with red peppers and spininch is incredible as well as the has. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items. Highly Recommend! Pros: Great tasting food, good street parking more

Great breakfast value! 7/26/2004

Huevos rancheros are excellent!!! Excellent, friendly service and an eclectic menu with something for everyone. A new breakfast favorite! Pros: great coffee, guacamole, service more

Now This is What I'm Talkin' About 5/15/2004

You can't go wrong with a marriage of Latin culture/spice and breakfast. Healthy, chic, but not so over the top that you feel like you have to put up a front. The service was quite impeccable. The pancakes..any of them..excellent. Expect to pay maybe about 10-12 for breakfast without tax. Haven't been there for dinner yet, but I've heard good things about their fritos pie. If you have nothing to talk about, the ambience will give you plenty. Modern paintings adorn the walls for those looking for anything to say. Pros: Fairly priced more

""Flo""'s Review by MWK 12/10/2003

This resturaunt is the perfect place whether it's for an intimate date or a small gathering of good friends. The service was extremely attentive. The food was impeccable. The menu either for dinner or brunch was very exciting and mouth watering! This is highly recommended! Pros: Great menu, Intimate/personal, Great music/lighting Cons: Parking, Small entrance more

Treated like friends 11/30/2003

We were in town last week for four days, and ended up having breakfast at Flo twice. Great burrito and low-rider breakfast. On the second visit, our original waiter from the first visit remembered us right away, and even though he wasn't our server he checked on us and chatted with us about our visit to Chicago. He was very sweet and friendly. Half of my breakfast burrito made it home to Minneapolis and was just as delicious reheated. Pros: inexpensive, great food more

Great food and relaxed environment 10/5/2003

We visited late in the lunch/breakfast shift on a Saturday and had a great relaxing lunch. The egg sandwich was hearty with firm spinach leaves and a great blend of flavors. The atmoshphere is nice and the waitstaff was pleasent and helpful more
