Happier customer. Fischer repaired our bathroom after we had water damage. The project took over 7 months and billing was painful, but in the end we feel like we got a fair deal. The people who did the actual construction work on the house were skilled and friendly. The only work that was sub-pair was the tile work that was subcontracted to Great Floors (different issue). In the end, I'm a pretty happy customer. Only wish it didn't have to take so long. more

Overcharged, misled, left with incomplete bathroom for 7 months 1/21/2014

Our bathroom floor had water damage. We called Fischer in June to come repair, and opted to use insurance to pay. We also request a few upgrades: use tile floor instead of vinyl (120 sq ft), install 2 pocket doors, and move a light-switch. They provided an estimate for all work, including insurance and upgrades. We signed and they ripped out the floor. It was weeks before they came to do more work. Supposedly they were trying to find shower tile to match what we had left after the tear out. In late August we finally got a change order that indicated they couldn't find the tile and needed to replace the whole shower. The change order also included some upgrades and the price seemed high, but the estimator assured me it was also an estimate and pressured me to sign so we could continue work. Since we had already waited over two months to have work done (living without a shower and toilet that whole time), I signed. The project dragged out for a total of 7 months. They told me to explicitly not pay until they finalized the bill, so I waited. I asked many times about it. Meanwhile, I had to take on the burden of managing the insurance payments because they wouldn't do the work themselves. Finally insurance was fully paid and Fischer told me to pay the exact amount of the estimate, stating it was a contract the whole time. Now I am reviewing in detail and found some items that were never completed (moving the toilet over 18" was one). They are refusing to take this off the bill, even though it was not done. I am also finding out that a subcontractor who came in to help later, because Fischer couldn't complete the work themselves, will be charging me pieces of the items Fischer is charging me. For custom upgrades (tile floor, doors, light switch) we are being charged $4300 by Fischer and several hundred by the subcontractor. It does not add up. Fischer has resisted to provide us with line item cost of materials and labor for custom work for 4 weeks now, even though that is part of the contract. more

Unfair billing practices... Quotes different rate than actually charged. Material costs are about 3-5x at retailers. more

I never even considered another plumber! 12/17/2010

I've happily used these guys for years, but when my 1912 era side sewer finally went out, backing up into my basement (yuk!) I was especially grateful for their professionalism and fast response helping with professional cleanup and replacing the line. Later, when a related issue neither of us knew about arose (another line that didn't appear on official records) they came right out and fixed that at no charge! They explain everything, clean up after themselves, are courteous and friendly, and they know what they're doing. I never even considered another plumber for this huge job because you don't want to mess around with anything as important to daily life as a properly functioning sewer line! more

As I sit here with your crew at nearly 2:00 am, I just wanted to commend you on your services. As a former "Ballard-ite", I recognized the "Fischer" name immediately upon an internet search for this service at a time of real need. Your technician, Jonas, showed up after receiving an emergency call for a sprinkler head failure. The initial reason for hiring him was the short lead time to arrive at our facility. In the meantime, our national service center manager had tried to contact one of your competitors. We turned them down due to extended response time. They then showed up anyways, with a van, and no large equipment to complete the job. They were sent away. Your techs showed up on time, and had the proper equipment to complete the job. They delved right into the work, and completed the job in a reasonable time frame. The equipment was appropriate for the scale of the job, and they performed excellent work. They removed nearly 500 gallons of standing water. I was impressed with their ability to complete the job, and the care they showed when discussing the problems associated with the removal of such a large volume of water. They explained the fact that the moisture had risen up the drywall, and were able to accurately evaluate the extent of the damages. They left several air movers, and a dehumidifier. This showed me that they were concerned about the long term aspects of the water intrusion. They were personable, knowledgeable, and interested in doing the job right. As your advertisement says, "The one people recommend" is an accurate description. I will not hesitate to recommend your services to others in the future.
