Not a place to go if you are actually hungry 1/7/2012

Food was good... but as soon as they brought it out I knew we'd have to pick up something else or eat leftovers at home.... Each item is priced individually... no salad with your food. My husbands plate had maybe 3 oz of meet with a couple scoups of vegetable sauce... Hardly enough to feed a grown athletic man... Was expecting the live music to be open to all... but it was in a tiny bar two rooms down from where we were seated and we couldn't really hear the music at all... As always parking in Green Hills is a nightmare...I don't usually bother to write negative reviews... but I am so disappointed in this experience.. I will never go back. If you are looking for upscale atmosphere with snack sized portions at premium prices, then this is the place for you.....I dont mind paying $100 for a night out with my husband but I don't want to leave hungry. (I am actually a very small person, so dont think that I need huge portions to be satisfied). more

AMAZING 4/23/2011

I am shocked to read any even semi-negative reviews of this restaurant because I thought it was fabulous. I'm from New York and have high standards for restaurants. so I am extremely picky about everything when it comes to details. F Scotts has it all: unbelievable food, excellent service, live entertainment, great management. Food- I went there for the first time last weekend and already returned again this weekend because I could not wait to go back and try more dishes on the menu. I've tasted the chicken, scallops, and fettuccine bolognese. My favorite was the scallops which were perfectly cooked and plated with fresh angel hair pasta and a vegetable medley that worked beautifully with the dish. But every single thing on all the plates I've had there have tasted fantastic from the main dish to the garnishes. I've also had the frogs legs app, the sunchoke salad, and the parmesan truffle fries side. They were all terrific. This chef has the rare ability to make sauces that are not too heavy yet still robust in flavor. They also make their own pasta, which is rare for Nashville restaurants and really sets them apart in my opinion. The service was great. The waiters were extremely helpful, friendly and let us control the amount of time we wanted to spend there. Meaning we had a long luxurious meal there when we wanted to and a quicker meal another time when we were in more of a hurry to catch a movie afterwards. The live jazz was very enjoyable and matched the ambiance of the restaurant. You can tune it out if you aren't into music or sit closer to the band to enjoy it more. Finally, this restaurant is well managed. They immediately had our table ready for us when we came in for our reservation (even when we were 10 minutes early.) And they were friendly and welcoming to all different types of clients (younger, older, classy, casually dressed). If you have never been to F Scotts....GO NOW! more

best anywhere!!!! 9/23/2009

my hubby and I went there for our 20th anniversary and was made to feel as though we were the only people in the restaurant. The service by Larry was outstanding, the food absolutely fantastic!!He saved a table for us in the jazz bar for after dinner entertainment by the amazing Begee Adair. What a wonderful night! We told our neighbors about and they went the following night and had the same wonderful experience. We'll be back again and again! Pros: Best food, wine, waiters, somelier Cons: NONE!!!! more

question not review 7/8/2009

Can anyone tell me if this is the type of place I can put on a good suit and enjoy some jazz without feeling like I'm over dressed? I'm 34 and just wanna find a nice atmosphere, free of hip-hop though I love it to the death, to relax and maybe have a conversation of substance with people who are willing to talk about more than Michael Jackson's death. more

Too much attitude 3/20/2009

My wife and I had been looking forward to visiting F. Scott's for some time. We decided to try out the bar. I spent five minutes trying to find a wine selection that was appealing and reasonably priced. When I told the sommelier standing behind the bar that I wasn't knocked out by the selection, she made an indignant gesture, grabbed the wine list, and walked away. She then went out of her way to have loud conversations with other guests nearby around how she selects wines...conversations that my wife and I were very clearly meant to hear.\r \r It actually took several minutes for one bartender to get me a drink at one point, even after she'd taken my order. Of course, having her mother come to the bar was probably a distraction since she spent most of her time talking to her. I also overheard some slightly unexpected comments on other patrons there.\r \r Disappointing and not what I expected given the reputation here in Nashville. Pros: Live Music Cons: Service Attitude more

Bland 3/3/2009

Nice 20's ambiance, much older crowd, no wait on a Friday night. As for the food, I ordered the beef tenderloin and the beef and all the sides including the sauce were very bland. Even salt didn't help. The bread basket came out with stale bread. Live jazz in the bar was nice but I will not be returning to this restaurant. Pros: Live jazz Cons: the food more

Best restaurant in Nashville 3/1/2009

Not only is F. scott;s the best restaurant in Nashville, but it compares favorably with wonderful restaurants around the world. The menu is seasonal, and there are always specials. The food is uniformly interesting, innovative and most important, absolutely delicious. The portions are ample, but not ridiculous. The servers are always well informed, and warm and attentive, without being intrusive. The entire environment is comfortable and relaxed, yet special enough for a dressy occasion. The daily, live jazz from the bar provides great background music but it is still quiet enough for pleasant conversation. Elise, one of the owners, is a wine expert, and fills her list with interesting, unusual and fairly priced bottles. She loves to help you choose. F. Scott's is a delightful experience in every way. Pros: Food, service, music, ambience Cons: non more

Not Impressed 11/9/2008

Ate there when I first moved here about 3 years ago. I was so unimpressed I cant even remember what i had and never went back. more

Best in Nashville 10/24/2008

F. Scotts is one of the best, if not the best in restaurant in Nashville. The menu is always fresh, the staff is excellent, and the wine list is great. The jazz bar is great as well. Steve is the perfect host. We have enjoyed this restaurant since our first date in 2002. For special occasions or just a fun evening out, F. Scotts is consistent. Pros: Service, Food more

still one of the best 3/2/2008

We went recently for our anniversary and had a very nice dinner. The server was very knowledgeable and he did a very good job pairing wines for us. We liked all our food, but our fish entrees were outstanding! My only knock is that it's a little dated inside, but it is Green Hills so it is what it is. The jazz in the bar is nice touch as well. Pros: food, service, extensive wine list Cons: decor more

Best restaurant in Nashville 2/20/2008

F. Scott's is by far my favorite restaurant in Nashville...and I have certainly been to alot of them. The food and atmosphere are phenomenal. You can almost always be seated in the bar and you are taken care of just as carefully as if you are in the dining area. The jazz is always a nice experience to go along with the food. This is THE place for a romantic experience. more

Excellent All-Around 2/16/2008

I have never written a restaurant review before, but wanted to tell you all about our dinner at F. Scott's because I had been nervous after reading some negative Citysearch write-ups on the place. I took my boyfriend there for a romantic and relaxing date and couldn't have been more pleased. The atmosphere was classy, clean, quiet and comfortable. We could enjoy the bar's lovely jazz music from the dining room, though it wasn't overwhelming. Our waitress was friendly, unobtrusive, and very knowledgable. Our courses were paced out perfectly. The food was perfect in size (filling and they clearly don't try to make up for quality with quantity) and ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY DELICIOUS. We began with Caesar salad, winter soup, and restaurant's warm homemade breads. My boyfriend dined on the pork chop for dinner while I loved the vegetarian special: spicy artichokes, root vegetables, and red wine risotto. For dessert, we luxuriated in a ginger apple crisp a la mode. It was also all elegantly presented. When the bill came, both my boyfriend and I noted that it was an appropriate sum for this all-around excellent experience. And upon leaving, we found we'd been sitting for so long that we'd closed down the restaurant at the end of the night, and no one had rushed us away... or even hinted! It was all perfectly lovely. Pros: Food, Value, Service more

Overpriced food with a snobby ambiance 1/10/2008

My family went only because we heard strong recommendations from a professor at Vanderbilt. We realized the prices were high...but great food can come with a great price. Not here....\r The menu is limited and has generalized (not creative) menu items of an overpriced wannabe restaurant. I ordered the chicken and was disappointed with the flavor. It was dried out and only had some flavor thanks to the thick sauce underneath. The server forgot to bring drinks mulitple times and we were left with unfilled glasses. On a positive note, the wine was good. The meals weren't absurdly small in size, just in flavor. We were unimpressed...they would have to change more than the daily specials for us to go back. Pros: music was great, good choices of wine Cons: wait staff was snobby, poor food flavor, stodgy ambiance more

Consistant 12/30/2007

Always a great dining experience. Valet parking is nice and the entertainment in the lounge is always fabulous. We enjoy the atmosphere. Pros: Great food and wine more

Great Gatsby, It's Good! 12/26/2007

My wife had Sable Fish and I had the pan-seared monkfish. Both were excellent. Glazes/sauces for the fish were lightly sweet. Our appetizer of goat cheese, mushrooms, and bacon on flatbread was delicious - and very rich. The ambience is classy without being stuffy.\r \r more

pubic hair in food 11/30/2007

My friend found a pubic hair in her food here. I was with her. I saw it. I would advise checking your plate for pubic hairs prior to eating your meal. more

Worst Meal in a Long Time 11/10/2007

I had the worst dinner at F. Scotts I've ever had in Nashville: the service was rude, the food was cold, and the wine I ordered had turned bad (when I sent it back, she tried to sell me on another wine that was $20 more expensive with no apologies). If you want a nice meal, I would encourage you to go elsewhere. more

Best in town! 9/13/2007

I've been to F. Scott's a dozen times, and everytime the service has been wonderful and the food -- perfect. This is not a $$$$ steak-house, go to Morton's or Ruth's Cris if you want steak (although F. Scott's does have a very good filet mignon). But, if you want amazing, creative and varied cuisine, along with a sophisticated and romantic atmoshpere, then F. Scott's is your place.\r \r The only place I can think of in Nashville that has comparable cuisine is Flyte. And while my experience at Flyte was great, I'd take the service and ambience of F. Scott's everytime.\r \r So, unless you're a high-schooler that doesn't appreciate the enormity of restaurant management replacing, on the spot, a dress your server damaged so that you're little prom isn't ruined, I think you'll enjoy F. Scott's. more

Boooring 7/2/2007

Bad service and booorish dishes. Very average.\r Not a place I would take friends or dine again. My dish was burned and the service was poor. more

Great Sauces 4/15/2007

I decided to go to F Scotts for my senior Prom. The ambiance was wonderful, I really enjoyed the meal I ordered. The Service was good, up until they decided to clean the table. The lady who was cleaning the table spilt oil all over my dates prom dress. The management did do a very good job of makeing it the best situation possible but I just couldn't believe that a place of that stature would spill oil all over my girlfriends silk dress. They management heppened to get another dress that was the right size and style just a different color. I realize it was an accident but those kind of things shouldnt happen because her dress is ruined now. If they wouldn't have gotten another dress I would have been really mad, because my prom night would have been ruined, but I wont ever go there again. I really didn't expect to worry about something like on my prom night, I couldn't imagine taking her on a regular date there. You would think they would have been extra careful around a silk dress but I guess the waitress wasnt paying attention. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Parking, Service more
