Worst

I'd been wanting to try Eat Well since I moved to Silver Lake a couple of months ago. You would think from the long wait that the food would be incredible! I had the Buddah Bowl...

Well, I would give it a 4 star rating, but it is Closed, shutdown, Gone... more

Surprisingly fresh and tasty food!!! 9/23/2007

I have to say, i expected just another yummy greasy spoon-type diner when my hub and i went here for saturday brunch recently. And, while the atmosphere is definitley casual diner with no frills, the food was beyond expectations! I had the breakfast burrito, which was fab with no potatoes (yay!), lots of black beans, eggs, cheese, and fresh avocado on top... super tasty with spanish rice. But the real winner was the salad (cobb or chef - can never remember which is which) that my husband had. Big chunks of bacon, blue cheese, avocado, on a bed of spinach and iceberg, with a big freshly cooked chicken breast on top. He literally said it was the best salad he ever had. Though there was a slightly long wait, they seated us quickly and service was fast and efficient. Pros: fresh made to order food, coffee that keeps coming Cons: slight wait on weekends, parking can be tough. more

Service Great...Food and atmosphere Not so Great 9/9/2007

I'd been wanting to try Eat Well since I moved to Silver Lake a couple of months ago. You would think from the long wait that the food would be incredible! I had the Buddah Bowl that another user had said was her favorite. Let me tell you, there is nothing special here. The tofu tasted old and the beens were almost tasteless despite the liberal, dry curry or all spice...not sure what, sprinkled on top at the end. I was also a little surprised by the prices, since the atmosphere of where I was sitting left a little to be desired. I was in between dirty bins of dishes being loudly thrown around, with a bell ringing out of control from the kitchen and a customer swatting flies with his news paper. And why do restaurants charge the same amount for a prefab veggie burger as they do for beef burger? I will never understand this. Pros: good service, hip place Cons: food tasts like nothing more

Best breakfast in Silverlake 5/22/2007

I have never had a bad experience at Eat Well. My food has always been terrific, I order the same dish every time. The Buddah Bowl. It is so good, and enough food to fill you up and save the rest for lunch. Not to mention healthy! I would come here everyday if I didnt work so far away. My only wish is that they would open for dinner! Pros: tasty healthy food, friendly staff Cons: long wait on weekends more

Did not live up to its name... 3/29/2007

Unfortunately, I have to say that I did not ""eat well"" here. My husband and I visited for the first time last Sunday afternoon. We saw that the restaurant was pretty packed, and we figured a place this popular must be for a good reason. After a fairly short wait, we were seated at the outdoor seating area on the sidewalk which was very pleasant. It was all downhill from there. It took our waiter, a pretty young guy, FOREVER, just to take our order. Then after he took our order, we had to wait around 45 min. to get our food. This is somewhat understandable if the restaurant is packed, but by this time, the crowd had thinned out considerably. I don't know what can possibly take so long to make a club sandwich and sausage scramble. Come to think of it, it probably didn't take that long to make and was just sitting on the counter for a long time because when the food finally came out, my scamble and biscuit with gravy was frigid! Horrible! Not to mention that the eggs in the scramble were over cooked. Needless to say, we won't be eating there again. Luckily, the Cheesestore was right next door and we popped by there and had a wonderful experience! more

Great food, good variety 11/5/2006

Good food, good service, good range of food. I personally luv the poached eggs with the hollandaise sauce and canadian bacon. The hollandaise sauce is made very well. I also like the pancakes, they are just right - not too flat not to fluffy and it has that slight wheat flavour. The veggie omelet is great too. Most dishes are heavy portions so bring your apetite b/c there will definitely be leftovers. This place is crowded and with good reason. Luv the restaurant not so much the type of people that go there, it kind of ruins the ambience for me - so my husband & I do not go as often as we used to. Pros: Good food, good portions, great value Cons: Too crowded, too trendy-ambience not so great anymore more

I LOVE THIS PLACE 9/1/2006

My friends and I used to go every Saturday morning for breakfast. I quit my job and can't afford to eat out now. But I think fondly of this place. The service was always great. We had a favorite waitress that would come over and chat with us even when we weren't at one of her tables. The breakfast burritos are awesome! Everything there is awesome actually. I take everyone new to LA there. My mom even took me and all my friends there for easter breakfast. The place is rad. Dog friendly. Kid friendly. more

Friendly staff and consistently satisfying American cuisine 8/31/2006

I will say first that its the staff that sets this American diner apart from its contemporaries. Ultra-hip without the pretense, their attitude welcomes you into the ""regulars crowd"" even upon your first visit. more

Nice Staff, Fun Atmosphere, Fresh Foods! 7/24/2006

The folks who set up the Eat Well in Silverlake must have anticipated the supreme people watching opportunities when putting up those mirrors above the booths, but keep your eyes on the prize, ie: the great food! Pros: Fresh food, great portions, really nice staff Cons: Parking, maybe? more

A Silver Lake establishment 7/2/2006

I've been going to this place on a regular basis for years. the staff is always is really cool with my weird custom orders and they make a point to remember my name. They play great music and did i mention that they have good food? Nothing beats their chilaquiles or egg sandwich after a night of heavy drinking. more

Just great 4/6/2006

The chilaquiles are outstanding for breakfast. Service is always great. There's usually a wait after about 10 am on weekends, but it's typically not so bad. And always worth it. Coffee is very good, and always refilled promptly. It's just a great place. more

good stuff 8/26/2002

I've visted both the West Hollywood and Silverlake locations, and find the Silverlake location more to my liking. Funky, fun and full of good energy, Eat Well has a good selection vegetarian (and non-vegetarian) brunch food and friendly, attentive staff. Eat Well is definetly a good place to people watch! more

The most important meal of the day 6/14/2002

While waiting for your breakfast make sure you get a piece of their crumble coffee cake. Careful, it is addicting and you'll soon find yourself with little or no room for your meal. Definitely wait to sit outside. You'll probably wait 20 minutes longer on the weekends, but if you're out for weekend brunch you definitely don't want to miss this people watching opportunity. Try the chorizo and eggs. It's as healthy as chorizo can be; this place is light on the grease. more

The Big Mess 6/13/2002

It's all about ordering a Big Mess after a night of partying. It's the perfect complement. Although, they have great food overall, breakfast is my favorite here. Service is friendly and expect to wait on a Saturday or Sunday. This place is popular with the locals. more
