Editorial review from Citysearch 9/12/2013

My wife and I go to the Richmond location of Dimassi's at least once a week. The food is good, healthy, it is eating out with the healthy qualities of eating in. We always leave happy and the people are friendly, nice atmosphere and especially the lunchtime prices are very reasonable. more

STAY AWAY! 5/3/2012

I bought a groupon thinking this place was going to be good and it was a BIG mistake!!! My husband and I walked in and the guy barely looked at us and pointed at the tables from the cash register. The food looked old as it was and when I tried it, it was cold as if it had been sitting there for hours. Not even 10 min after I finished eating I had a horrible stomach pain and got extremely sick from food poisoning. NEVER AGAIN! Nothing compares to Fadi's Mediterranian Restaurant. more

Bad Management - Bland Food - Pricey 5/29/2011

First the management is rude! They stare at you as if they don't want you there. There is no direction and you just walk in pay and sit yourself. more

Worst food I have ever eaten 5/22/2009

This place has the worst food I have ever eaten. It is like a Middle Eastern version of Ryan's Steak House buffet. . I was sick for several days afterwards. Also not very clean. I would say you are healthier and happier if you stay away. more

Beware the positive reviews must be employees 4/23/2009

This is the only time we've ever said ""so where are we going to eat now"" before leaving a restaurant. I am a very unpicky eater and was able to eat a little of some things, but only the squash was really ok. My wife picked at her plate and couldn't eat much of it. I can't believe I paid. Far too expensive for such crappy food. I couldn't believe how bad it was. They had lamb, LAMB that was awful! How does that happen? I made a chuck roast the other night that was far better. It looked to me like this restaurant will soon be going out of business like 4 of their 11 locations here already have. Do yourself a favor and eat at a gas station instead. Cons: Everything here is a con more

Very Bland 4/18/2009

All the dishes are bland & not very fresh. The only good thing about this place is the fruit. I guess you can't go wrong with that. It's not even worth the ten dollars. I will never go back to this place. Even their pita bread is disguistingly bitter! How do you mess up on bread?? Pros: all you can eat Cons: bland, bland, bland, little variety more

Overpriced!!! 3/22/2009

My husband and I decided to try Dimassi's after reading all of the great user reviews and were sadly disappointed. We went late afternoon one Saturday and the restaurant was about 1/3 full but all of the hot food items were lukewarm or cold. The best part of the buffet was the salad..very good salads but I wouldn't pay $25 for them which is what the buffet costs for 2 people on the weekend. This place was a rip-off. I'm surprised it has received so many high ratings...either I went on a bad day or the people who are giving this restauarant 4 and 5 stars don't have very high standards when it comes to food. The most I would pay to eat here again would be $6.95 which is because the salads were good. Pros: Good variety of food Cons: Food cold and expensive more

This isnt your average buffet 6/23/2008

If you like Mediterranean food and plenty of it? this is your place! Everything they have reminds me of my grandmothers cooking. From the humus dip to the rolled cabbage the food was great! The price can?t be beat for two people. (Under 20 bucks w/ drink!) Even though this is a buffet the quality of food was superior even to that of a service style meal. The decor is also a nice touch with Arabian music playing in the background for that ultra Mediterranean feel. The desert is unbelievable! Pros: Everything was cooked properly and tasted like it should more

This place turned me on to Mediterranean food 5/2/2008

Went with my wife for lunch to the new Clear Lake location. I counted about 35 items on the buffet, not counting dessert. Not having eaten much of this type of food before, I was determined to try everything, even if I thought I would not like it. I made it through 18 dishes before I was stuffed. Plan on going back with a buddy and try to fit in the rest of the dishes. The salads, rice, and lamb are all excellent. I could eat that salad every day. I liked how each dish was labelled with the name and the ingrediants, so I knew what I was eating. Pros: salads, lamb, rice Cons: the restaraunt is too bright and loud more

Best midle eastern food in Houston 4/15/2007

Well being middle eastern myself I am impressed with Dimassi's food. It's as close to authentic as I have seen so far in the states. I have tried the one on Richmond and the one on Kirby. The one on Richmond seems to have more fresh food as it is more established and is thus busier. I love their hummus and baba ghanoug, bread is made right there and is delicious. Salads are good too. My absolute favorite is their baklawa which is to die for! Although they have raised their price to 10.99 on the weekends and for dinner I think it's still a good bargain considering that you get to eat all you can, drinks and dessert included. Overall I recommend for anyone interested in trying good middle eastern food. I go there almost once every week and I always leave happy Pros: Food quality Cons: None I can think of more

Great Lebanese Buffet 2/15/2007

Great salads, and their fresh bread was worth that alone, Lamb is good, if you have never tried mid eastern food this is the place to go, take a littlle and see what you do and do not like. Pros: cheap, good buffet, lots of parking Cons: hard to get to , no atmosphere more

Freshest Value & Variety 1/24/2007

I have not noticed 'old' food during slow times, the varied buffet is constantly refreshed. Salads are fresh and flavorful, great veggies. Slow-simmered lamb shank is excellent, fried cauliflower awesome, fresh pita cooked while you watch and hot tea or cold beverage included. Only $9.99 at lunch, and you pay as you go in. A favorite! Pros: Variety, freshness Cons: Run-down interior more

Kitchen 7/19/2003

I think whoever designed this restaurant does not understand the United States very well. The food is good, the salads excellent. What service you need is prompt and efficient. The decor is hideous. The price is less than I would charge. Probably for the true eater (gourmand) this is one of the best values in town. Pros: Good Value, Salad Bar more

Good to Try 7/19/2003

This is great if you're not familiar with Lebanese food. You're served cafeteria-style, so you can see most of the dishes already prepared. The freshly-made bread is awesome. The food is average, though. You can get better tasting Lebanese food at other restaurants. Don't go during off-peak times or you'll get food that's been sitting out. Pros: Decent variety, Good parking, Decent prices Cons: Mediocre food more

Good Lebanese Buffet 1/4/2003

Dimassi is a great value for those who would like to be able to sample a variety of Mediterannean/Greek/Lebanese dishes. Their buffet is what I consider to be the best one of this sort (and only) that I know of. Their salads are outstanding but their meats are only mediocre. The restaurant is also undergoing a slow renovation so expect the atmosphere to improve. Currently, it can only be charitably be described as 'utilitarian'. Interestingly enough, the owner of the restaurant is a Syrian couple. Pros: good selection, fresh vegetables, cheap Cons: not so great meats, chilly atmosphere more

A Euphoric Moment 6/8/2002

I noticed this resturant before I utilized Citysearch.com but yeah I am able to articulate how I feel now. This establishment has a cafeteria style, select what you can see from behind the sneeze guard glass and pay when you done selecting, and then go sit down and enjoy. If you have trouble with the pronounciation of your dish amicable emplyees are willing to assist you. Dimassi Middle Eastern Cafe is kept clean and refreshed but if you are looking for spicy Middle Eastern food ( if that phrase exists) this is not the establishment. Arabic Music is played in the background as you enjoy what you are eating. Pros: Large portions, Excellent Quality, genuine homefreshness Cons: One trip for meal more
