Best

One of my favorite places to eat in Denver. Try the paella or pork sandwich. The pork they use is tender and tastes slightly gamy like the fresh pork my sister used to serve me on...

Worst

I am from Tampa FL, known for authentic cuban food and ""Cuba Cuba"" does not come close. Not to say their food is bad, its just not great, especially for the price. Their black b...

Cuba-licious! 7/16/2004

Great atmosphere with live music during the week and a great outdoor patio! Lots of varities of mojiots to try out - we'll be back again! Pros: music, intimate setting, Unique dishes more

Cha Chaaa Chaaaa! 12/31/2003

I don't know why people compare this with SF because in the Bay we have ""cha chaa Chaa!"". That place is the only place I could compare Cuba Cuba with, and I'd say this place definitely comes up short. I also went with 4 people and we went through 2 caraffes of sangria - $25 each, and the food was overcooked hard, bland, and small in portion. We hesistantly and almost timidly returned the pork dish. The server WAS GREAT! He definitely dealt with the sitaution very well, but I unfortunately won't be going back. Pros: atmosphere/cosy, good management, service Cons: over cooked, bland food, doesn't stand out more

Best latin food in the midwest!!! 7/8/2003

We (4 of us) went to dinner at Cuba Cuba and we all agreed the it's hands down the best latin food we've had outside NY, Miami, and SF. The food was great... from the authentic dishes (vaca Frita)to the chef's specials. I personally had the special (Halibut served over rice and asopado (stew, Latin style!!!!!!) and thought the fish and flavoring was made perfectly. It's nice to see ""real"", original dishes coming from such a small place, unlike those big corporate restaurants. The ambiance made me feel like i was in another place and the waitstaff was charming, not stuck up. The only down fall is that we waited about 1 hour to be seated, but we drank Mojitos to keep us happy. Pros: Great Food, ambiance, good drinks Cons: long waits more

A small slice of Havana 3/13/2003

First of all, this is a Cuban restaurant, not Brazilian as the previous review states. This is the closest thing you will find to authentic Cuban food in Denver. You'll notice a lot of caribbean influence with an emphasis on beef, pork and seafood. A few traditional cuban dishes are missing from the menu, but what is offered is quite tasty. Don't forget to have a Mojito to start your meal off right. Pros: Unique in Denver, Tasty food Cons: Sometimes noisy more

Worth the wait! 2/19/2003

Cuba Cuba came highly recommended to me, and we ate there my first night ever visiting Denver. I was impressed by the homemade Sangria and Mojito's. The plantains were all prepared perfectly and the camerones dishes were wonderful. Our waitress could have been more engaging and less artificial. We waited over an hour for a table, yet enjoyed the bar atmosphere and ambience. I would return on my next visit without hesitation. Pros: Delicious, Innovative, Comfortable Cons: Pretentious, Crowded, Indifferent more

way to go!!!!!!! muy bien! 12/1/2002

We have eaten at Cuba Cuba over a dozen times and felt it was time to share the wealth. This tiny treasure has been a welcomed restaurant to our community. We love to go for happy hour, dinner, dessert-- or sometimes to hang out at the bar. the people are incredibley friendly--and always willing to go out of their way to make us feel at home & comfortable. We love going on weekdays--when you can get right in-- but sometimes the party starts on friday-- mojitos..... tooo good. take it from a Miami, Cuban native-- this place is for real! from the vaca frita to the platanitos. It's great that Denver finally has an authentic cuban menu! Pros: drinks, food, ambiance more

overrated... 11/11/2002

Denver's love affair with Cuba Cuba looks like a keeper. However, it's more of a place to be seen than to dine on fantastic Cuban food. Last week, four of us stopped in for a visit. The overall dining experience was very good. Everyone was great...especially for a super hectic Friday night. Yet, everyone raves about their food...when you can get better authentic Cuban food at El Azteca and more consistency at Samba Room. Their Vaca Frita should have been called Vaca Seca because it was more like eating a huge hunk of Cuban deshebrada. And numerous people swoon over the Bacardi Painted Mahi...why? The boniato mash is divine, but the fish is sorely overcooked and overpriced for the portion at $18.95. If you do go, be prepared to wait. They take no reservations. We arrived at 6:45 and finally got a table at 9:00! Get there early or late... Pros: service, boniato mash, decor Cons: noise, appetizers, some prices more

Great cocktails & food, long waits 11/4/2002

My first visit to Cuba Cuba was probably my best. A wonderfully romantic meal punctuated with tasteful food and exquisite cocktails. (truly) The restaurant wasn't crowded and the overall feel of the place was pleasing. Unfortunately the past few times I've gone since haven't been as pleasurable. Expect to wait as long as 1 hour for a table if you go on Friday or Saturday night. Cuba does not take reservations, which is ludicrous considering the popularity of this place. But if you're perfectly happy to wait an hour to get seated, take advantage of the bar - delectable drinks such as the mojito and sangria will tempt you. But don't stop there - their other cocktails (the coconut martini: coconut milk & rum, up) are also tasty. A unique restaurant with a fun atmosphere, try out Cuba Cuba on a weeknight when it's slow. Cheers. Pros: Great cocktails, Good food, Fun atmosphere Cons: 1 hour table wait, No reservations, Crowded beyond belief more

Simply the Best 8/16/2002

I happenend upon this tiny treasure of a restaurant the other night. The atmosphere is amazing the staff is simply delightful and the food.....is outrageous!! I would recommend this place for a drink after work or a romantic dinner on the the patio. Pros: friendly staff, excellent menu, wonderful atmosphere more

Bad Cuban Food is the WORST 8/2/2002

Being a Florida native, I was expecting a lot more than a trendy atmosphere from a Miami native Cuban restaurant owner. The tostones were dry, obviously old, and not seasoned. Tostones should be crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, these were neither. Our server informed us that the Cuban sandwiches are pre-made earlier in the day. Yum. Our entrees had a miniscule amount of black beans accompanied by a huge mound of rice. And to top it off we asked for hot sauce and they brought us Tabasco sauce, out of all the hot sauces in the world (or just in Cuba), WHY TABASCO?? The owner came to our table after realizing we were disappointed and asked ""are you girls Cuban"", as if that had any relevancy to having a palate for good food. This is definately the worst Cuban food I have ever had. more

Nice to look at 6/24/2002

If it's friendly service you are looking for, then pass Cuba Cuba by. The restaurant has unique decoration and makes a fantastic mojito. We had a lot of time to notice the decor and the menu due to our 2 hour wait (which we were told when we arrived at 6:45 was going to be 45 minutes-1 hour). Hostesses were rude when we checked our remaining wait time once after 1 1/2 hours. I have no problem waiting for a table but 2 hours with no explanation seemed excessive. We eventually got sick of waiting and decided to leave. We felt the service was too rude to return. Pros: Great decor, Nice drink selection, Tasty mojitos Cons: Rude hostesses, Inattentive bartender, overy crowded and hot more
