Hey I wanted to try something different, something romantic, it had nice white table cloths and it seemed that it would be quiet enough for enjoyable conversation, did not want to go to the same places we always go to. I thought I had found the perfect place. I had been there in the late afternoon and had a glass of iced tea on a very hot Friday afternoon. It was so good and the owner was so very pleasant. So I called, made reservations, as was recommended on the website where I went for the review. One was good, one was not so good, but I thought I would take a chance. They greeted us, had our table ready, only about 2 other groups in the entire place, it was 9:05. We looked at the menu, I noticed they were very proud of their selections, but I thought, ""oh well"". We'll see. I eat salmon all the time, even across the street at their competition and where it is always amazing. However for $32, I began to wonder. I shd have wondered for a moment longer. The salmon was not very good, I had to use the sauce to cover up the flavor of the salmon because it just was not pleasurable at all. The almond rice was just way overcooked white rice with a few almonds dried up and thrown on top of it. The only ""if you want to call it that"" good thing about the meal was the green beans. My husband had the chicken and he eats chicken also at the competition across the street, where it is always amazing as well. I was surprised to hear that he thought it was kinda of chewy, not a tender kind of taste. I mean gosh, how can you possibly screw up chicken? My caesar salad was good and the bread and iced tea were both good. We paid our bill, $90 for chicken, salmon, two salads and iced tea. We decided to go across the street to their competition for our usual dessert, and as usual, it was fabulous. Houston's----R&D Won't try Cafe Expresso again, unless I get thirsty for iced tea.
