Best

Absolutely loved it.

Worst

The portions are too large for one person, the food is too expensive for what it is, the waitstaff is usually preoccupied with how young and cool they are, and it is far to noisey...

worst place in town 1/23/2008

Owner came by and told us we needed to leave as he needed the table. What a rude and disgusting little man. Pros: none Cons: owner and everything else more

Won't Return 1/13/2008

After living less than a mile away from Buca for almost a year, my husband and I finaly decided to get take-out from them one night after receiving a coupon in the mail. The service was good. Our food was ready in twenty minutes as they said it would be. We ordered chicken parmigian and fried calamari. I knew we would be dissappointed as soon as I got to may car with the food and the calamari smelled fishy. It was just the right amount of food for two people, and was not horrible, but was only warm, not hot, and it was definitely not anything special. The calamari was rubbery, and a little over cooked. And since when does chicken parmigian come with ham on top? The food was edible, but with so many other wonderful Italian restaurants in Houston, I don't see how Buca has managed to stay in business. We won't be returning. Pros: Good quick service. Reasonable prices. Cons: Calamari over cooked. Food was nothing special and was not served hot. more

So not recommended 3/16/2007

After ten years in the restaurant business, I have never experience such a lousy restaurant staff. First I called in my order 30 minutes before arriving to the restaurant, then once there I still had to wait for another 45 minutes. Then when I check my order, I notice that I was missing an entree. When I told the hostess about my missing entree, I was ask to check and made sure I did not receive an extra entree in my order (which I did not). After waiting over an hour for a take out that I was told shoud only take twenty minutes and some lame excuse from the staff, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who is willing to spend money and wants to be treated like a decent human being. Pros: Food is okay, big portion Cons: Lousy service, inconsiderate staff more

Good food, service, and huge portions 3/14/2007

I love this place. The portions are huge, inexpensive, and taste great. This is definitely a group-friendly restaurant. I was happy with all the dishes ordered and would recommend this to anyone that likes Italian food. The restaurant is huge, but making reservations is probably a good idea. Pros: food, service, portions more

Great Italian food!!GOODBYE Antonio's Flying pizza, HELLO Buca!! 3/1/2007

Make reservations. Must have the tirimisu. For under $10, four people can share this liquor-saturated dessert. You get this tour around the restaurant and it is so festive in there! If you get to sit in the kitchen, all the waitstaff and chefs will always introduce you to every dish as they take it to their guests. Pros: Fun, liquor tirimisu, fun staff, great atmosphere... Cons: parking can be annoying more

Excellent White Pizza 12/30/2006

I stopped in at lunch for a pizza and will definitley be back. The white pizza, not on the menu but made special for me, was excellent with just the right amount of gorganzola cheese and carmelized onions! The wait staff is more than friendly, they are inviting and make the homey atmosphere believable. Bring the whole clan, sit down and get ready for a true family dining experience! May seem pricy at first...remember though the menu is set for family or two person servings! Pros: food,,ambiance, value Cons: some seating is too close to the wait staff service area. I don't really want to listen to them begging off for the night! more

Great Customer Service 10/23/2006

Bucca di Beppo has great bartenders and staff. Of course the platters are enormous but what do expect its family dining. In addition, they now serve lunch. We had the pleasure of sampling their lunch menu and giving them input. They offer a good variety with a nice atmosphere. You can enjoy a good food with friends and family. Pros: Thumbs up!!! more

Good enough for even for an Italian 8/2/2006

I grew up in the back of a ravioli shop and eat some sort of southern italian dish at least once a week. Needless to say, I avoid Italian restraraunts. But I gave this place a try. I was with 2 other people and the proportions were very reasonable. I like how they walked us through the kitchen on the way to our table. I went on a Monday night, so there was no wait. They give out a lot of wine and they appear to use a lot of fresh ingrediants (very essential in Italian cooking). I wouldn't ask someone to marry me there, but it's not a child-inf*sted smoking closet either. In terms of expense, I would say all Italian restraraunts are expensive given the fact that the food costs about 15 cents to produce and maybe 20 cents to prepare. So a $15.00 plate of spegetti and meatballs is like a 10000% mark-up. If you don't how to cook it and you enjoy eating Italian food, then you can't go wrong with this place as a casual dinner. more

Not the best Italian, but good food & value 8/15/2005

While I would never suggest Buca for a special occasion, it is a fun restaurant. I agree with the reviewer that was reminded of the film "Big Night". Buca is a chain, but a pretty good one. The restaurant walls are covered with pictures and diners are encouraged to explore. The atmosphere is reminicent of what Chili's/Bennigan's are trying to pull off. Pros: Good food, Good value, Good service Cons: Can be crowded, Wait at peak times more

Celebrating Life! 6/16/2005

This is, by far, the most interesting and fun place to bring your celebration to. I come here for nearly all my family and friends great moments. That is what's great about this place, you can come one night with family for a great dinner; and the next with friends to let loose and just have fun. My little brother loves the green beans, believe it or not, and my best girlfriend loves this rasberry lemondrop cocktail. It's the best of both worlds. You should probably make reservations but during the week there's hardly ever a wait. If I decide to go and have to wait, at least I know it's worth it. I love the chicken parmesian and love the pictures on the wall. I like to go where I know what I'm getting and here I know I can have a great dinner at this place. Pros: Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Interesting Decor more

Dinnerpalooza 6/11/2005

Good food and lots of it. But it was way too loud - and I'm in my twenties, I'm not an old grandpa with a sensitive hearing aid - it was really freakin loud in there. There were kids EVERYWHERE, yelling, screaming, crying, climbing on back of my booth. I think I saw a kid swinging from a chandelier! Okay, there was no swinging from chandeliers, that I saw anyway. Bucca di Peppo should really have 3 sections: Smoking / Nonsmoking / Children. Pros: Great for Groups Cons: Way Too Loud, Too many kids more

Better than Olive G*rden 4/7/2005

In the movie "Big Night," a great small, authentic, gourmet Itallian restaurant is run out of business by a big, noisy American Italian restaurant, that serves food that panders to American tastes with a lot of tomato sauce and cheese. Buca is the latter restaurant, not the former. The portions, the wait for a table, and the noise level are all enormous. The food has lots of tomato sauce and cheese, and all the wine is cheap. If you want the American stereotype of Italian food, it really is quite decent. My favorite dishes are the chicken marsala and the Margherita Pizza. But Buca is not authentic and has very little individual character. Pros: enourmous portions, cheap Cons: crowded, noisy more

Little Italy in Houston! 4/3/2005

This is by far the best italian food in Houston- with portions being family style, it's a good place for big groups and special occassions. Try getting the smaller portions so you can try more items. The small dishes are still a fair amount to share. Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: too crowded more

Awesome! 2/17/2005

We went for my birthday, and the food was delicious, the service prompt, and the waiters were really friendly and funny! I definitely recommend it for a somewhat nice night out! Pros: atmosphere more

Great for Groups 8/18/2004

The food is very tasty and served in ample portions. I always have plenty to eat and each person pays around $15 total for a great assortment of food...which is pretty good for a large group dining outing. The eggplant parmesan is the best ever. Great for vegetarians as well. Atmosphere and decor are great. Service is even better. Pros: Good Food, Good Service, Good Value more

Just OK 6/19/2004

On a Friday nite at 6:30 we had no problem getting seated. By the time we left the place was packed. Pros: Decor, Service more
