way too expensive on items 12/31/2012

I just went there and was looking at some transformers and boy oh boy are they expensive. I am a G1 transformer collector and know about about how much some most of the transformers should cost. When you carge over $110 for a $50 item that is overcharging for it. Now I can under stand overcharging a bit for a vintage toy (and how much you overcharge should depend on how much the toy is really worth) because they have bills to pay and they don't do business over the Internet either,m but this much is ridicules. I would love to give a local store my money but with how much they overcharge I'm sticking to the internet, Sorry. :( more

Its like stepping back into your childhood 4/16/2006

and the childhood of millions of other kids all at once!! I was told to go to this store by my girlfriend, but had no idea how awesome it was until I actualy stepped inside. Although I hadnt planned on buying anything, I spent about 25 bucks and bought more amazing relics than I had dreamed! I still have the awesome air freshener in my car and my best friend loved the Mr. T boxing doll I gave him! more

A great blast from the past 4/3/2006

Big Fun has recently moved to a bigger and better location. Now it's spacious and has many more fun things to offer than it used to. The store mainly has great relics from the 80s, but of course stuff from all the other decades too, including the 90s (Poppels!!!!!, remember those, girls?) They have vintage toys (like My Little Ponies, the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles even still in their package) This is my new favorite store at Coventry, because I feel it is 1000 times better than it once was. I got a shirt made there that says "My <3's in Cleveland" They have other Cleveland inspired sayings and many blasts from the pasts (Jem, Thundercats, Dukes of Hazzard, etc) to put on any color shirt of your choosing. A great walk down memory lane and pretty inexpensive. I want pretty much everything there. more

80's Mania 3/28/2006

I grew up 3 hours south of Cleveland and have been making trips just to go to this store for years. It is located in a nice little part of the city surrounded by some interesting restaurants. Inside the store is a world taken from 1985!! There are giant cutouts of New Kids on the Block, old Vanilla Ice trading cards, and drawers full of knick-nacks like crazy. PLEASE go to this store and just look at all the neat things that they have there. Also, if you buy anything they almost always give you free goodies with your purchase. What a great plus!! more

Eclectic Retro Toy Shop!! 11/7/2005

This place is the best for boomers who want to recapture their youth thru old toys! I haven't seen anything like it elsewhere. It's a unique collection of all sorts of old toys, paper, candy, comic books and magazines, and so forth. Some of it is "real," some repro, but it's all quality stuff. Mostly 1960s-1970s. You will find great things that you'd forgotten ever existed. Nice trip down memory lane. Great location right on Coventry. more

A store for the young at heart 8/17/2005

Okay, this is, for all intents and purposes, a toy store. But take your average 5 to 10 year old in here, and they will have no idea what any of this stuff is. But you will. 30 somethings on up will know what most of this stuff is. And my sixty something mom knows what ALL of this stuff is. Get your sense of nostalgia out and start shopping. You will not believe the old toy treasure you will find in this store. From lunchboxes to 3D Jesus postcards to Bendy Gumbys (and all his pals) to Fortune Telling Fish to Punching Nun Puppets to Jackie Kennedy Paper Dolls - you remember it from your childhood, and they probably have it. Start browsing in this store, and before you know it, two hours have passed. The prices are reasonable for buying back a piece of your childhood, and for the real collector items, the prices are, well, definitely memorable. Big fun is exactly that. Big Fun. more

Small, charming, and full of goodies 8/14/2005

Of all the little field trips we took over at Coventry Elementary School, the most interesting one was to this store, about a two-minute walk from the school. It's the kind of place that sells lunch boxes, potato guns, and that little thingymajig you've always wanted: the definition of a novelty shop. It's owned locally, which is a good thing. But frankly, I'd go anywhere close for this kind of kitsch. Everything is cheap-ish and it's clear that a lot of genuine fun has been had in making the store work. If you're in Coventry anyway, you must not miss this store; if you're looking for a cute birthday present, check it out; if you're in the state - well - think about it. more

collectibles 8/6/2005

If you collect anything from by gone times then this is the place to check out. The real collectibles are under glass, but the reproductions are out where you can search throught them....just like when you were younger and mom took you to the dime store. Lots of things to choose from...lunch boxes, star wars, barbie dolls, gi joe. Remember the toys from the cereal boxes, the dish towels from the detergent companies.....take a trip down memory lane with a visit to Big Fun. Price from reasonable to thousands. more
