You know, at the end of they day they're (mostly) just fish.
That said, the Aquarium has a very pretty location, and it's beautiful inside. The poor critters are all displayed well, and they seem as happy as they can be in little tanks.
The turtles are adorable, as are the penguins. The rest of the fish range from mildly beautiful to frightening (sharks, even on IMAX film, can really take the wind out of you.)
It is expensive to get in, even when you're a cash-poor student. And it's not huge huge (though it is about the biggest any reasonable aquarium can get, unless it's a Sea World.) But if what you enjoy is seeing beautiful things in captivity, this may be your place.

It's had some rocky leadership, and that has actually visibly affected the quality of the art and the exhibits. Nevertheless, it's full of magnificent works. This museum made me say "wow" at least once.
It's an easy walk from the T, cheap (free for a poor student like me), and definitely worth at least half a day if you can be convinced to look at something beautiful for a little while. Hey, you're in Boston - go!

I have a soft spot for science museums; or maybe I've never seen a bad one. Either way, the MoS tickles my creative spot in a remarkable way.
The museum was clearly engineered by somebody who believes in fun. Sure, there's information and technology and deep stuff like that, and I definitely dig that. But more importantly, it's full of hands-on trousers-rolled seatbelt-fastened-tray-table-locked-in-upright-position fun. You could spend a whole day here and not be done; that's impressive.
It's a little pricey, but not with a college student ID and not at certain times. Plan your visit well in advance. (Plan it carefully and ahead of time.) Be warned that if you spend too little time here, you'll be haunted by regret over having missed so much.
On the other hand, there's nothing bad about coming back to the Museum of Science. It's a wonderful place. I'm glad it's here.

And they have things besides pizza: subs, wraps, sandwiches, and drinks. The bread stuff is nothing to die for, but the pizzas are excellent. They are really big (REALLY big) and full of flavor.
If you're in Manomet or near Manomet or near Plymouth and looking for good pizza, this is where to call.

Imagine my delight half a year ago when I read in the Plain Dealer that Tommy's had gone smoke-free.
Finally, the only thing I didn't like about Tommy's was gone. The place now smells entirely like food everywhere, and it's wonderful.
They have good food. They have vegetarian food and carnivore food and vegan junk and meat, meat, meat. They have wraps and salads and pizza (it's okay, not exceptional) and falafel.
Also they have milkshakes that everybody must have once in his life.
Some people go, "psh! Tommy's is overrated! It's just cheap diner food!" These people are just jealous that they aren't Tommy.
Also, they have the Brownie Monster. This is good dessert. It is seriously good food.
Tommy's makes the trip to Coventry from anywhere naer Cleveland worth your while.

Stepping into Joey's is like stepping into a small, dark restaurant full of happy people.
It's not always quiet, true. And there isn't a whole lot of space between your table and the next party's, yes. But that's just how it is, and it's a wonderful place.
There are little candles on each table which are not tacky. There is great food, which is really Italian. And, since it's a local company, there are all sorts of neat coupons you can usually find that make the great food even cheaper!
But I would never pass up Joey's for the money. It's a wonderful, casual little place for eating in; you can also order a pizza and go eat it by the Chagrin park, which is a fantastic thing to be able to do.
Joey's is one of the things I really miss about Cleveland.

Once we were seated in the window of this attractive Georgetown restaurant. This may be why the waitstaff seemed so neurotically obsessed with making sure we looked happy every five or ten minutes. ("Is everything okay?" "How's your meal?")
They have fantastic meat here. I prefer their chicken, but the seafood is also very good. It's central to Georgetown (but most things are).
The image projected was definitely "upscale" or at least "Georgetown". This meant that they were very friendly, but unwilling to kill a fly hovering near our table. (They were probably praying for it to go away.)
I will definitely be back here the next time I'm in town; it's a great place to go, quiet and cozy.

*Those people* go to Fire and Ice. You know, *them*. That kind of people. They dress and talk like *that*.
Well, it isn't all yuppies, but there are more than a few. And if you can get past the people, the prospect of an all-you-can-eat build-your-own-meal place is actually rather appetizing.
The big attraction is that you can spoon any kind of food from little serving bowls into a little bowl of your own, and then watch as a trained professional empties your bowl onto a big, circular oven right out there in the open and cooks it. Also you can cook it with lots of different kinds of sauces.
That's about it; but, hey, you can keep going back and putting more stuff in bowls for the chefs, and they don't seem to mind. (I've never stayed for more than three or four rounds; maybe they -do- start to mind after a while.)
When full, it can get loud; and it's often hot near the oven. Oh well. It's never too bad that you can't hear anyone, and since it's in Boston you can usually just throw yourself outside if you're desperate for cold.
The desserts are good, though not earthshattering (and not unlimited.)
Don't go for the atmosphere; go for the food!

Well, she seemed a whole lot like Mary Chung anyway. See, we'd mentioned to our server that the food we got was *really* spicy! and a woman came out and gave us a new, less-spicy version of the same dishes. And if it wasn't Mary Chung, it was certainly somebody nice and accommodating, which is great in Boston.
Once it wasn't burning our palates, the food was excellent. I'll definitely go again.

This isn't the Mayflower, but it's a darn near perfect replica. (Or so we're told.)
There is a little set of exhibits attached to the boat which tell some history of the Pilgrims' travels, and it's fascinating, but there isn't too much to it.
If it excites you to be standing on a carbon copy of the very boat that brought the first settlers over to Massachusetts, if you feel a profound sense of importance and sadness and joy at looking at things steeped with history, then you will love being on the Mayflower II.
Personally, I found its charm faded pretty quickly. It's not a very big boat, which is itself fascinating, considering that it took more than a hunded people across the Atlantic Ocean, but which also means that there isn't a terrible lot to explore.
At the end of the day you might be just as happy seeing this from the outside as the inside. And that's free (it's moored to a public dock). Still, you can say you were on the Mayflower, which is as much as those pioneers could say 385 years ago.
