Best relaxing delicious dinner in town! 3/27/2011

My husband and I love the Au Pied de Cochon! The service is impeccable and the food is fabulous. I am tired of the ""artsy"" restaurants in town that treat you as if it is a favor to you to be in their restaurants - this place treats you like royalty. The food is absolutely delicious and the wine list is amazing! I love the waiter Martin and the manager is wonderful, too! I highly recommend. more

It's so sad! 9/12/2009

Our party of 3 thoroughly enjoyed the food & service but were amazed to be the only table in the large restaurant upon arrival at about 6:30 on a Friday night. By the time we left around 9:00, there was only a single diner & one couple in the dining room. There was also a party of six on the patio. Unbelievable for a restaurant in a hotel. I'm sorry that it probably won't be around too long. Better hurry before it goes. One of my friends declared the onion soup as the best they ever tasted. not so much 8/21/2009

I was there for a celebratory dinner one month ago. The trotter was unavailable(for at least 3 weeks prior according ot our excellent waiter) and everything we had was either cold or at best mediocre. I had steak and frites, which in retrospect was the equal of a chain(think applebees) sirloin with greasy fries in a paper cup. Prehaps this place works for travelers or people with no better knowledge, but it is far below par and the lack of thier signature dish or a response form thier management when we complained is a massive FAIL. I don't care how pretty somewhere is or how wonderfully the staff behaves(other than management ignoring tables), there is no excuse for being served 20$ chain restaurant meals @60$ a head.\r \r Thanks, but never again. Even if you magically have the ""trotter"" in stock.... Pros: service, interior Cons: cold less than mediocre food; lack of signature dish more

horrible place 3/11/2009

a friend and i went there a few nights ago. and found the service very lacking to start. tended to rush us threw our order and then after we orderded disaperd from sight you would have thought they were busy with guest but there were only three other tables in the whole restaurnt with people.. i had to ask for everything more than twice. and thn the food was just horrible and cold it had probally been sitting a long time before we received it. and last the price was far over priced for what we had dont waste your money and time Pros: quiet Cons: bad food bad service rude waiters more

Seriously, Don't waste your time. 11/22/2008

One of the worst restaurants in town. The waiter barely spoke english (and his first language clearly wasn't french), never even asked for a drink order, and when I was given a little dinky menu that said ""QuickBites"", I asked if there was a full menu I could order from, and was told in very broken english that there was no such thing. I don't know if they serve different items during the day, but I was told no basically, and ignored for a good chunk of our dining experience. I went with two other people, and between the three of us, we ordered the N.Y. Strip steak, the linguini, and the calamari. The only thing that was even edible was the calamari, and even then the maranara that came with it tasted bottled. My friend kept having to pick little rosemary twigs out of his mouth from the linguini, and said, to be blunt, that the aftertaste on the tomatoes in it tasted like throw.up, seriously. None of the plates contained any garnish, or even any sides. I was given a plain white plate with a hunk of chared, burned, medium well inside steak (no pink at all), when I had ordered it medium. I was able to flake off burned pieces, it was so well done. They put a dish on the side of what tasted to be nothing but worchestershire sauce. The steak was also not seasoned AT ALL. At least the calamari was okay, so we all just ended up munching off of his plate instead. Luckily the remulade sauce on it wasn't spicy really.\r \r All in all, this is the least french ""French"" restaurant I've ever experienced, some of the poorest service, and definitely the worst food. This place is definitely memorable, but it's in that ""Man, we are NEVER coming back here"" running joke sort of ways. I can't believe we just spent $65 on that. Next time I will literally eat the $65 in cash, it will taste better. Pros: The place was clean I guess. Cons: Service, food, price, pretty much everything. more

It used to be great... 11/21/2008

I do have to say that i was really disapointed by my last dinner at Au Pied de Cochon. \r What a difference from the time when it opened to now. I remember going over there a few month after it opened and it was great!!!!! It was the best Steack Tartare in town for sure. The Sea Food was great as well and my girlfriend and i enjoyed our dinner very much. She had the Roasted Turbot and it was excellent. \r We started to go over there for late dinners after the movies or a show and we were never disapointed besides the Gangsta crowd that you can find there late on a Saturday night. Nothing better than a nice bowl of French Onion Soup and a Croque Monsieur to warm you up in a cold January night. We took some frieds for a birthday and i had the Veal Blanquette with the pearl onions, the button mushrooms and the Rice. That was awesome and all for of us had a great time. My girlfriend Bianca had the Scallops with the crushed potatoes and she literally ate the whole thing. \r After moving to North Carolina for two years and coming back to Atlanta last month i couldn't wait to go over there again for dinner. I guess it wasn't such a great idea after all. The food was blend, luke warm and we really didn't enjoyed our time. The quality of the Sea food like the oysters went down but not the prices. The veal stew was a total disaster and my girlfiens fish was melly and overcooked. After asking our waitress it seems that the original Chef called Maxime got snatched by a big hotel resort in Las Vegas and left in July 06. I guess it is our loss as the ""French Touch "" left the building as well as the good food. Too bad because this place with the decor and the great food was one of a kind in town.\r Now i wouldn't recomment it to anyone and i 'd rather go to Joel instead. Pros: Beautiful Decor Cons: The food more

Good 11/21/2008

Very nice place and setting. Great sea food and service. Open all night and all day so it is good after a night out in town Pros: Easy access and great location in Buckhead. more

How do you say, ""bust"" in French? 4/17/2008

If you would have split the price of my bill in half it might have been worth it. I got the veal while my friend ordered the steak and both meals were so generic. You could tell right when it came out there was really nothing to the meal. Basically just two hunks of bland tasting meat on a plate. If you are a decent cook you can probably stay home with a bottle of wine and do much better. The server was nice but I had to flag her down to place an order and it was not crowded at midnight. You will wait forever to get your food so I hope you really enjoy the person you're with. The ambience is pretty cool but taking price completely out of the picture there are a million other restaurants with much better food than here. However, the miniature ketchup bottles are pretty cool. more

mixed bag, but a real French menu 4/5/2008

Like others, I have had mixed results. My service was fine, although many of the staff seem a little amateurish for such a venue. My ""crab salad"" was delicious, and large, although I was expecting more greens or vegetables -- it was only crab and artichoke. The veal stew was a disappointment -- undercooked potatoes, cloyingly sweet carrots, although the meat was very nice. Portion pretty chintzy for the price --it's lucky I had an appetizer. I keep hoping for another Brasserie Le Coze here --authentic French food in relaxed surroundings, but the food here is consistently inconsistent. more

I liked it okay 8/9/2006

We ate at the restaurant as my fiance is french and a chef. We went with a couple other chefs and I don't know if the service staff was intimidated or what but they were never at the table and were always peeking at us from across the room. Service was Sslllooooww. Food was great though when it arrived. Very pretty inside. I recommend it simply becuase of the food. And for those who try the Pigs foot, be aware that that pig foot is fatty and has lots of bones- that is the way it is! My fiance loved it. If you do not like that order the foie gras yum or the lobster ravioli. French american food that is pretty good and good addition to Buckhead. Pros: Food and Decor Cons: Slow service more

Excellent food, above average service 7/6/2006

I have just eaten here for the first time and I absolutely loved it. We ordered a seafood platter appetizer and it was delicious - a huge platter of oysters and shrimp on ice. The filet was perfectly cooked. The french onion soup was really tasty. Their fries were delicious as well. Unlike many of the other posters here, we had a wonderful time and our server was delightful. No problems with any portion of our dinner. Although it is a bit pricey, it's located in an upper class hotel in Buckhead - what do you expect?\r Highly recommended... Pros: Food quality, Service, Food selections Cons: Difficult to find if not familiar with area, a bit pricey more

slow and overpriced 5/6/2006

I visited au pied late at night for fine dining, but the amount of food for the price was minimal. we didn't even get bread until we requested it. The entire dining experience took over 2 hours, even though we were one of two tables. After waiting for the check what seemed like forever, we totaled the bill in our heads and merely left the money. very disapointing. Pros: escargot Cons: service speed more

Fabulous experience 4/7/2006

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. the decor is amazing. I am regular for lunch and dinner. the food and service is consistently excellent. I totally recomend the lover's booth if you want a romantic dinner. they are little private booths that close of with curtains. I heard they just started a 7 day promotion incl lobster night on Mondays, free dessert buffet on Tuesdays, one dollar shrimp and oyster on Wednesdays and the 5 dollar martinis on Thursdays. It is a really enjoyable restaurant!! more

What a Disappointment! 2/20/2006

At least another patron who wrote a review was offered bread. We were not, even though the bread plate and butter knife remained on our table throughout the entire meal. The entire meal was a disappointment: salad -blah; soup - mediocre at best; lamb- ordered medium rare was over-cooked; lobster ravioli - chewy and nondescript; even the creme brulee, which the waiter described as the house favorite, was nothing to write home about. (At least they were consistent). The staff from the time we exited our car were friendly and attentive. The decor was interesting and different. The ambiance could have been enhanced by dimming the lights - a bit bright for 9pm. The best thing about this place may be that it's open 24 hours, even though I've had better, more satisfying and certainly cheaper meals at Waffle House. Pros: Friendly staff, Ambiance, Open 24 hours Cons: Over Priced, Over rated more

delicious and convenient 9/5/2005

I highly recommend this restaurant. I was a bit unsure because it always seems so empty and cold but the food is absolutely delicious. The service here has improved significantly over the past year. They also serve the best fllet in Atlanta I am sure. The wine is a little pricey but it is a hotel after all. Pros: food, service, atmosphere Cons: valet more

Lunch was a disappointment 8/29/2005

My family and I had a lunch (not a buffet) on Sunday afternoon. But this lunch was awful. I ordered seabass, it was a very thin slice and very hard to chew, Mussel so small it looked shrunk to half the size and it was very tough to chew like either it has been over cooked or cooked the day before. It was not even green mussle either for the price that was charged. The best thing we had was the piece of bread. A glass of Pino wine was $16, I guess it was a special wine. We simply felt that the quality of food was so poor to justify the price. It was a disappointment. Sounds like from reading post's here other dinner patrons had a good time, I might try the dinner. Service and atmosphere was great... Pros: service , atmosphere Cons: quality of food more

Great dinner 8/12/2005

I had a very nice dinner, it was romantic with the live jazz music, and the service was impeccable. The food was great, it made me think about the wonderfull week I spent in Paris a while back! I will definitely put this restaurant on my list of places to visit more frequently. I saw a comment about expensive.... They offer a geat lunch buffet for 17.95, which is not expensive at all. At night I guess it is not for everyone, but since the value is definitely there, I am comfortable with that :) Pros: raw seafood, service, free valet more

Worst lunch Ever 8/2/2005

The service was good, but the food was terrible we had the signature Au Pied de Cochon pig and it was 80% full of bones, we also had the clams which seems very old and this place was stupidly expensive. Will never return. Pros: Nice Decor, Middile of Buckhead Cons: Expensive, Paid Parking more
