Asahi Japanese Steak House

All the cook did for show was the onion thing (volcano and train). Nothing that great unless you call cutting up the vegetables etc as a great show. We got great service on the drinks for the most part. I thought that it would much better since the reviews were so great. I did like the noodles. I didn't like the cook giving you the ginger sauce without asking. This leaves me with one white sauce which was not as good as other Japenese restaurant in Greensboro. The vegetables and rice were okay but I didn't have enough white sauce since I had the unrequested ginger sauceI had to wait to get his attention for more white sauce. The shrimp and chicken werer terrible. They were both tough and didn't have a good taste. You couldn't cut either with the fork so you had to pick it up on your fork and try to bite pieces off. There is no way I would good back. You couldn't pay me to eat there. I couldn't believe it when people in our group clapped after that mess. I am sitting there thinking "are they nuts?" ::Decor:: The decor itself could use the upgrade and the hibachi tables seem to be home made. But chalk it all up to an experience and sit back and enjoy. ::Service:: Wait staff service on a Thursday night was slow considering there were only four other tables and one waiter taking orders. ::Food & Experience:: The chef seemed well versed with all the Hibachi tricks. The long wait to put in our food order was well worth it once our chef walked up to the table smiling. Egg tossing, onion volcanos and all, I would give the entertainment an 8.7 on the scale and the food was fabulous. The meats were cooked to perfection, however the veggies tended to be over seasoned on occasion. The Red Snapper and Filet Mignon is highly recommended.
