Mike Hastings, the brass repairman at Art's in Birmingham, is phenomenal. \r

I've known this a while, as Mike has been my go-to guy for brass repairs for years. My wife and I send all our brass students to him for their horn repairs, also. (She's a band director.)\r

However, I recently took him what I thought was going to be a real challenge. \r
\r
A 1938 Conn 44H trombone I recently acquired had a tuning bow that looked like it had been in a bar fight and lost. In addition to the four big dents in it, the rest of it looked like one of those hammered finishes you see on some cymbals. \r

When I picked up the horn FOUR HOURS later, it looked as if nothing had ever happened to it. Unreal. \r

The slide alignment he did is also perfect. \r
\r
Somebody needs to give this man a raise! \r
\r
He provides ridiculously good service that reflects well on the high standards Art's has, for years, set and maintained.\r

Art Freehling would be proud.\r
