the spaghetti sauce was the WORST i every had ate it tasted like a no name brand ragu sauce from the jar that has been sitting outside all summer long then they added WATER and heated it up and served it. believe me about this save your self i wish i would have known about this place before it was expensive but i don't care about spending money on good food but this place is not worth eating it for FREE Pros: waiters were nice i Don't wont to give them 1 star they are 0 Cons: it should not be called Italian it should be called GARBAG more

Best Italian Family Restaurant 11/30/2009

This intimate restaurant makes your Italian dining experience unforgettable! The menu selection holds a plethora of options ranging from Anti-pasta to Seafood. This family-run business is very tight knit and offers excellent customer service. Owners never forget a face! Pros: Amazing Lasagna, Pizza and Dessert Selection Cons: Sometimes the parking in the area is not so convenient. more

BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD. 2/24/2009

I love this place. The red booths and waiters are old school and awesome. The pizza is the best in the world. Order thin crust with green olives, black olives and mushrooms. The carafe of house wine is a deal for $18.00. Ignore the negative reviews...they're haters. 2 hour free parking down the street in the residential area. The pizza is expensive but well worth the money because it is incredible. If you can't afford to eat out stay at home and quit complaining. This place rocks. Pros: pizza, atmosphere, parking, waiters more

Over priced! 7/18/2008

We stopped in Anna's for a late lunch. My husband and I were the only customers in the place. The waiter was very nice. The service was fast. The atmosphere was quaint. The prices were way too high for what we ordered. We paid $35.00 for 2 pasta dishes, one order of spumoni ice crean and a diet soda. The food was good but not that good and the portions were only medium sized. I would expect either lower prices or larger portions in a place like this. $18.95 for a pasta dish that had minimal amounts of chicken in it is way too expensive. It was worth going there once but we have found italian food that is just as good for a lost less coin. Pros: tasty food Cons: way too pricey more

wonderful food and service 3/10/2008

I wanted to treat myself to a night out with a good book. Anna's was the perfect place! My server was an older gentleman who was SO NICE. He was attentive without being around too much. I was able to read, drink wine, and eat in peace. The ravioli is amazing. The house chianti is good. The bread was great. The ambiance perfect. I couldn't have had a better date with myself! YAY! Pros: good service, yummy food Cons: i walked, but others will need to search for parking more

Worst Italian Food 3/4/2008

I wanted to try Ann'a because of the quaint exterior decor. However, the interior is quite depressing due to the poor lighting and the elderly patrons. All of that I could overlook, but the food was absolutely disgusting. The pasta was over boiled, almost mushy, and the sauces were awful. I always finish off my plate, but I pushed this meal away after a few bites. This is unquestionably the worst Italian food (actually any food) I've ever had. more

Authentic Italian 9/5/2007

I can't comprehend the complaints I am hearing about Anna's. I love this restaurant. I am part Italian and I get such enjoyment from going to Anna's. Not only does the ambiance and atmosphere resemble an Italian restaurant I used to go to a lot in Italy, but the food and the customer service is great as well. Moreover, I get to speak Italian with the very nice manager who tends to throw in a complimentary appetizer for me having been a customer for so long. Obviously, Anna's is a restaurant I highly recommend. I currently live in the OC, so I try to create occasions/excuses to drive down to LA in order to eat at Anna's. Great food, great service, great romantic yet family friendly atmosphere. Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Food Cons: Parking can be a problem sometimes more

Bad food, bad service 8/4/2007

I was disappointed by both the food and the service. The marinara sauce was almost inedible - everything else was very bland. Our waitress was rude and hard to find - not to mention unsanitary. She actually had an open piece of candy in her hand when she brought food to our table! By then end of the evening, we couldn't find her so we eventually flagged down a manager and waited 20 minutes for the bill! Not recommended! more

Red Booths, Bad Service 3/10/2007

When first looking at the $20 a dish menu, red booths and new york italian atmosphere, i though we'd be in for a treat. i felt, oh this must be where the godfather dines, this must taste authentic. not so much. our waiter was, in lieu of saying rude, disinterested. he just didnt really smile, or care, to the point where we were afraid of asking for olive oil, extra parmesan, and even the bill, so i can best describe him as scary. The veal (which had an inspirational footnote on the menu that prompted me to order it) in sherry sauce, had a bit of pungent taste, that was not to my liking. the sole meuniere didnt come out as i expected, it was drenched in gravy which made the batter soggy and ended up tasting more like sweet and sour chinese chicken. the highlight was the side of pasta that came with the dishes, but since i was too scared to ask for more cheese, i couldnt really enjoy it. save your money and go elsewhere. Pros: Parmesan Cheese, Red Booths, Dimmed Lighting Cons: Service scary, Food strange, Too expensive for what it is more

Super-fattening comfort Italian with okay service. 8/9/2006

My wife and I went to Anna's a number of times as guilty indulgences. The pasta dishes are made with cream, egg yolk, parmesan, and ever-increasing amounts of cheese. For all of this, it tastes quite delicious (as it should), if a little bland. Pros: Good comfort food. Cons: Massive calories; poor service. more

Bland food, great atmosphere 1/18/2006

This restaurant has been here for over 35 years -- and it feels like it, in a good way. Very homey, with vinyl booths, red checked tablecloths, and a friendly, folksy menu. The food, however, was bland and flavorless -- and the prices were slightly higher than I'd expect for a family restaurant like this. I've only tried the one dish, but based on the strength of it, I would not necessarily go back. On the other hand, it's atmospheric and great for kids. Pros: atmospheric Cons: bland food more

True Italian food on the westside!! 10/26/2005

I have been coming to Anna's since I was a student at UCLA and have truely enjoyed every visit. My boyfriend and I have tried almost everything on the menu and have never been dissapointed. I have been to Italy and Anna's is the closest to Italy that I have tasted. The pizza is superb. They use the best tasting cheese and the marinara sauce is excellent. The pastas are also great. If you order a cream sauce the server even prepares it right at your table. My favorite dish is the veal pizzaola. It is so tender you don't even need a knife to cut it. Anna's is definately one of my favorite restaurants. If you are looking for authentic Italian food this is the place for you, If not go to the Olive Garden. Pros: service, food, ambiance more

Best Italian food in Los Angeles 9/3/2005

I've been going to Anna's a few times a year since it opened in 1966. It is one of the pleasures of the Los Angeles area. Anna's has an intimate Italian atmosphere with some of the best service in the area. Their wait staff have been there since it's inception and are pros. Anna's has the best marinara sauce and pasta dishes I've ever tasted. In fact, I can't find sauce that tasty anywhere else. The garlic bread is to die for. Anna's is great for business meetings, family get togethers or romantic dinners. Some of the best celebrations of my life have been spent there and I'd highly recommend Anna's to anyone fortunate enough to venture through their doors for a meal. Pros: tasty food, great service, location more

Not flavorful 8/2/2005

Our first impression of Anna's? Red! Anna's has red decor, and the lighting is red. Rather extreme, but our eyes adjusted. Anna's is a pleasant enough place, and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. We ordered the eggplant alla parmigiana, and penne pasta with mushroom sauce. The eggplant was a large portion, accompanied by pasta and garlicky green beans. The eggplant dish was a thick slab, covered in a somewhat bland sauce. The mushroom sauce on the penne tasted strongly of onion but had little other flavor. Prices were on the high side of average. Overall, we cannot recommend Anna's despite the quality service. Pros: good service, vegetarian selections, large portions Cons: bland sauces, a bit expensive more

anna's & romance 7/29/2005

I had my first date at Anna's and have been going there for the last 25 to 30 years with my family. I can not think of any real home cooking as good as Anna's. Imust add I only decided towrite this review because of a negative review of a biased person who may own the other restaurant reviewd according to the public profile. I believe this landmark may be too good for the ""new cuisine"" that tastes canned. Pros: friendly, romantic, comfortable Cons: getting pricey more

unimpressive 2/3/2005

Went on a Wednesday night for the specials. Both the lasagna and the fish were mediocre; minestrone soup was thick and flat. Penne pasta side dish was overcooked and soupy. The only tasty part was dessert. The chocolate ice cream and coffee were quite good. I've had plenty better Italian at plenty better prices. Pros: ice cream, coffee, throwback atmosphere Cons: lackluster food, pricey for quality more

homemaker 5/18/2004

We enjoyed the service at this restaurant immensely, which only enhanced the great flavors of the cuisine. Our server jose made our experience all the more memorable by his attentivness Pros: reasonable, good service, comfortable more
